Surreal humour (also known as absurdist humour) is a form of humour predicated on deliberate violations of causal reasoning, producing events and behaviours that are obviously illogical. Constructions of surreal humour tend to involve bizarre juxtapositions, non-sequiturs, irrational or absurd situations and expressions of nonsense.
The humour arises from a subversion of audience's expectations, so that amusement is founded on unpredictability, separate from a logical analysis of the situation. The humour derived gets its appeal from the fact that the situation described is so ridiculous or unlikely. The genre has roots in Surrealism in the arts.
People speak of surreal humour when illogic and absurdity are used for humorous effect. Under such premises, people can identify precursors and early examples of surreal humour at least since the 19th century, such as Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, which both use illogic and absurdity (hookah-smoking caterpillars, croquet matches using live flamingos as mallets, etc.) for humorous effect. Many of Edward Lear's children stories and poems contain nonsense and are basically surreal in approach. For example, The Story of the Four Little Children Who Went Round the World (1871) is filled with contradictory statements and odd images intended to provoke amusement, such as the following:
Mitchell Lee "Mitch" Hedberg (February 24, 1968 – March 30, 2005) was an American stand-up comedian known for his surreal humor and unconventional comedic delivery. His comedy typically featured short, sometimes one-line jokes mixed with absurd elements and non sequiturs.
Hedberg's comedy and onstage persona gained him a cult following, with audience members sometimes shouting out the punchlines to his jokes before he could finish them.
Hedberg was born February 24, 1968, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the son of Mary (née Schimscha) and Arne Hedberg. Hedberg graduated from Harding High School in Saint Paul.
Hedberg began his stand-up career in Florida, and after a period of honing his skills, he moved to Seattle and began to tour. He soon appeared on MTV's Comikaze, followed by a 1996 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman that brought him his big break. He won the 1997 grand prize at the Seattle Comedy Competition. The next year he appeared in an episode of Fox's series That '70s Show.

The Bizarre and Surreal humor of "OH! Super Milk Chan". This show is not for everyone. To be able to understand the humor, you need to be very multicultural and have a basic knowledge of both the Japanese and English language. The show heavily relies on parodies of Classic Anime from the 1970s. The show has done multiple references to Heidi-Girl of the Alps, Mazinger Z, Cutey Honey, Combattler V, Kyojin No Hashi, Dog of Flanders, Galaxy Express 999, Captain Harlock, Fist of the North Star, Ringing Bell(Chirin No Suzu),Ashita No Joe, Devilman, gorgo 13, candy candy and many more. Many people who are only familiar with recent Anime, probably will not get the references and not think the show is funny. "OH! Nobody has uploaded this one yet, so I figured since I managed to find the file, I'd throw it up here for y'all. Shooting Stars: Series 6, Episode 5 (Aired 23 September 2009) Starring: Bob Mortimer, Vic Reeves, Angelos Epithemou, Ulrikakaka Jonsson, Jack Dee, and George Dawes (he's a baby). Guests: Mutya Buena, Lenny Henry, and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen DISCLAIMER: All this here video is owned by the BBC, and I have no claim to it. I am making no money by posting this, just doing it as a public service to those of us too deprived to have access to the quality entertainment BBC2 (and the entire BBC) brings. If anyone at the BBC wants me to take it down, I will, just know you will be making fans of surreal humor very sad, like Jack Dee with his face like a water-damaged library card.
South Park South Park is an American adult animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone (usually collectively known as Matt and Trey) for the Comedy Central television network. The show revolves around four boys—Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick—and their bizarre adventures in and around the titular Colorado town. Much like The Simpsons, South Park uses a very large ensemble cast of recurring characters. Intended for mature audiences, the show has become infamous for its crude language and dark, surreal humor that satirizes a wide range of topics. Parker and Stone developed the show from two animated shorts they created in 1992 and 1995. The latter became one of the first Internet viral videos, which ultimately led to its production as a series. South...
