This is the never ending scallion trick so you don't have to ever buy scallions ever again and save money. First go to the store, pick up a several bunches of scallions and plant them. Then when you need use some scallions cut off the greens and they'll grow back. I really like scallions in my salad. Another name for scallions is green onions. Also, scallions are known to inhibit cancer and increase nutrients like zinc, which supposedly people worry alot about on a raw vegan diet. However, after 5 years on a raw diet and I have never had an issue. Scallions are also, good on zucchini spaghetti recipes.

INGREDIENTS: I c. each all-purpose flour, warm water; 1/3 c. finely chopped scallions; 1 T sesame oil; 2 T salt; 1 large egg; Â_ tsp white pepper; 1 tsp. cane sugar. RECIPE: Place flour in bowl & whisk it. Mix in water. Mix in scallions, egg, salt, sugar & oil. Heat small amount of oil in small sauté pan; oil should cover entire bottom of pan. Drain excess oil. Ladle pancake mixture into pan in thin layer that coats the entire pan. Cook on high 1-2 min. Flip and repeat. Pancakes should be golden brown with some dark brown patches.
Super excited to show you how to make some scallion pancakes. These are like a childhood favorite of mine. It's super, super easy. Used to make them if my mom left the house and I was in a panic and needed something to eat. So, first we're going to start with some all-purpose flour. I like to whisk it a little bit, just to aerate the flour, break up any clumps, etc.
Then, you're going to put in some warm water. I like to use the warm water. It's helps just make the batter a little bit easier to mix. Next, some salt, sugar, and a little bit of ground red pepper. Little bit of sesame oil. Of course, the scallions. I'm going to leave a little for garnish later. And then also an egg. I like adding the egg. It gives it a little bit of that fat. It also, when you cook it, gives a nice color to the pancakes.
So, when you combine these, the main thing you're looking for is a certain consistency. It shouldn't be too thick. It should be kind of like a loose pancake batter. So if you need a little bit more water, add a little bit more water. I've experimented with some gluten free flours, and many times you have to add a lot more flour. And you want to make sure it's kind of nice and smooth, so inevitably with flour, you get clumps. Just smooth it out before cooking.
So, this is kind of the consistency you're looking for. It's a little wet. And I'm going to move over to the stove and start getting that heated. Just using a little saute pan will make little ones of these. Add a little bit of oil to coat the bottom and get that nice and hot. So you want to spread these on in one even layer, so it cooks, doesn't have to be perfect. This is a rustic preparation, it's such a homestyle food. Get that oil so it's nice and hot. It's kind of gleaming. And then ladle on some pancake. You want it in a nice, even layer. Just going to round out the edges a little bit.
So, you'll know you want to flip the pancakes when they're kind of golden brown on one side. I like to use a fish spatula, since it's quite thin and you can really get under the pancake and get the whole thing, so it's quite nice and pliable. So the pancake is kind of golden brown on one edge, so get under it with the fish spatula, going to flip it over, and see that nice color. If you want it a little crunchier, you can go a little darker and brown, but I like it kind of like a nice golden brown. And once you get that color on the other side, you're ready to go. So I've prepared a plate with a paper towel, because this is being cooked in oil. If you want to drain it a little on the paper towel so it's not greasy when you eat it, and then you're ready to go.
So, I've taken the pancakes off the saute pan and drained them on some paper towels, and now we're going to cut them so we can share as a nice appetizer portion. So, I'll just cut in half, and we're going to do eight pieces, so I'll just cut in half again. Then finally, into small pieces. So you can see this is a nice, thin doughy one. You can have a thinner one if you like. The great part about this pancake batter is that it's really easy to work with and you can make it the way you like.
I'm serving this with some of the dumpling dipping sauce that we made earlier, but it's also really great with sriracha, if you're into spicy food. Or sometimes people like to drizzle some plum sauce on there. It's kind of whatever you like to eat it with.

Green Onion pancakes are something I always have to order when I dine out at a Chinese Restaurant. But I didn't learn how to make them myself until recently when I visited my friend who was making for dinner. I learned how easy these delicious pancakes are to make and let's just say we've been eating them on the regular. Subscribe and like if you want to learn how to make them.
Green Onion Pancakes Recipe (Makes 4):
Inspired by Sunset Magazine's recipe
Ingredients -
- ½ cup Chicken Broth
- 1 tsp Kosher Salt
- ¼ tsp Sugar
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose Four
- 3 stalks Green Onion
- 1 Garlic Clove
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 2 tbsp melted Ghee
- Vegetable Oil
- Soy Dipping Sauce (2 tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 tsp Rice Wine Vinegar, 1 tsp Sesame Oil, 1 tsp Honey)
Preparation -
I start by boiling ½ cup of chicken broth with 1 tsp of kosher salt and ¼ tsp of sugar. Once it starts to bubble, i'll take it off heat and then i'll add 1 ½ cups of all purpose flour. I'll mix it well with my wooden spoon until the flour becomes moist and then I'll turn it over on my countertop and start kneading. I'll knead it for 3-5 minutes until the dough is elastic and it's smooth like a baby's bottom. This process is really great for relieving any stress.
I'll wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
In the meantime, i'll work on my green onion mixture. I'm taking 3 stalks of onion and slicing it, using only the green parts. Next I'll finely mince 1 clove of garlic to give it a little bit of extra flavor. Now in a small bowl, i'll combine the green onions and garlic with a tsp of sesame oil and 2 tbsp of melted ghee, also known as clarified butter. I like to use melted ghee because it adds a little bit of extra buttery flavor but you can also substitute with melted butter or even vegetable oil. I'll heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds to meld the flavor and then give it a quick stir and then set it aside.
When the dough is ready, i'll divide it into quarters and on a floured surface, i'll roll the dough out as thin as possible into a circle, and then coat it with a layer of melted ghee. The fat from the ghee will help create layers when you fry them up later. Now i'll add my green onion mixture, and spread everything out. I'll roll the dough up and then i'll coil it into a circle. And then using my rolling pin i'll roll it out into a pancake. And it's ready to be pan fried!
In a large frying pan on medium-high heat, i'll heat some vegetable oil for a minute, then add my green onion pancake. I'll pan fry each side for about 3 minutes until its nice, golden brown, and the kitchen starts to smell amazing. When it's done, i'll just slice it into triangles and enjoy it with some soy dipping sauce!
This dish is so easy to make and it can be used as breakfast or even snack-time staple, not just when having Chinese food. I like to make the pancake dough ahead of time and freeze it so it's ready at a moment's notice. I hope you like this recipe. Give it a try and i'll catch you later! bye!

Scallions – also known as green onions, spring onions, salad onions, green shallots, onion sticks, long onions, baby onions, precious onions, yard onions, gibbons, or syboes – are the edible plants of various Allium species, all of which are "onion-like", having hollow green leaves and lacking a fully developed root bulb.
The words scallion and shallot are related and can be traced back to the Greek askolonion as described by the Greek writer Theophrastus. This name, in turn, seems to originate from the name of the town of Ashkelon. The shallots themselves apparently came from farther east of Europe.
The Welsh onion (Allium fistulosum) does not form bulbs even when mature, and is grown in the West almost exclusively as a scallion or salad onion, although in Asia this species is of primary importance and used both fresh and in cooking. "Scallion" is also used for young plants of the common onion (A. cepa var. cepa) and shallot (A. cepa var. aggregatum, formerly A. ascalonicum), harvested before bulbs form, or sometimes when slight bulbing has occurred. Most of the cultivars grown in the West primarily as salad onions or scallions belong to A. cepa var. cepa. Other species sometimes used as scallions include A. ×proliferum and A. ×wakegi.

Then when you need use some scallions cut off the greens and they'll grow back. I really like scallions in my salad. Another name for scallions is green onions. Also, scallions are known to inhibit cancer and increase nutrients like zinc, which supposedly people worry alot about on a raw vegan diet. However, after 5 years on a raw diet and I have never had an issue. Scallions are also, good on zucchini spaghetti recipes. -

Super excited to show you how to make some scallion pancakes. These are like a childhood favorite of mine. It's super, super easy. Used to make them if my mom left the house and I was in a panic and needed something to eat. So, first we're going to start with some all-purpose flour. I like to whisk it a little bit, just to aerate the flour, break up any clumps, etc.
Then, you're going to put in some warm water. I like to use the warm water. It's helps just make the batter a little bit easier to mix. Next, some salt, sugar, and a little bit of ground red pepper. Little bit of sesame oil. Of course, the scallions. I'm going to leave a little for garnish later. And then also an egg. I like adding the egg. It gives it a little bit of that fat. It also, when you cook it, gives a nice color to the pancakes.
So, when you combine these, the main thing you're looking for is a certain consistency. It shouldn't be too thick. It should be kind of like a loose pancake batter. So if you need a little bit more water, add a little bit more water. I've experimented with some gluten free flours, and many times you have to add a lot more flour. And you want to make sure it's kind of nice and smooth, so inevitably with flour, you get clumps. Just smooth it out before cooking.
So, this is kind of the consistency you're looking for. It's a little wet. And I'm going to move over to the stove and start getting that heated. Just using a little saute pan will make little ones of these. Add a little bit of oil to coat the bottom and get that nice and hot. So you want to spread these on in one even layer, so it cooks, doesn't have to be perfect. This is a rustic preparation, it's such a homestyle food. Get that oil so it's nice and hot. It's kind of gleaming. And then ladle on some pancake. You want it in a nice, even layer. Just going to round out the edges a little bit.
So, you'll know you want to flip the pancakes when they're kind of golden brown on one side. I like to use a fish spatula, since it's quite thin and you can really get under the pancake and get the whole thing, so it's quite nice and pliable. So the pancake is kind of golden brown on one edge, so get under it with the fish spatula, going to flip it over, and see that nice color. If you want it a little crunchier, you can go a little darker and brown, but I like it kind of like a nice golden brown. And once you get that color on the other side, you're ready to go. So I've prepared a plate with a paper towel, because this is being cooked in oil. If you want to drain it a little on the paper towel so it's not greasy when you eat it, and then you're ready to go.
So, I've taken the pancakes off the saute pan and drained them on some paper towels, and now we're going to cut them so we can share as a nice appetizer portion. So, I'll just cut in half, and we're going to do eight pieces, so I'll just cut in half again. Then finally, into small pieces. So you can see this is a nice, thin doughy one. You can have a thinner one if you like. The great part about this pancake batter is that it's really easy to work with and you can make it the way you like.
I'm serving this with some of the dumpling dipping sauce that we made earlier, but it's also really great with sriracha, if you're into spicy food. Or sometimes people like to drizzle some plum sauce on there. It's kind of whatever you like to eat it with.

Green Onion pancakes are something I always have to order when I dine out at a Chinese Restaurant. But I didn't learn how to make them myself until recently when I visited my friend who was making for dinner. I learned how easy these delicious pancakes are to make and let's just say we've been eating them on the regular. Subscribe and like if you want to learn how to make them.
Green Onion Pancakes Recipe (Makes 4):
Inspired by Sunset Magazine's recipe
Ingredients -
- ½ cup Chicken Broth
- 1 tsp Kosher Salt
- ¼ tsp Sugar
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose Four
- 3 stalks Green Onion
- 1 Garlic Clove
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 2 tbsp melted Ghee
- Vegetable Oil
- Soy Dipping Sauce (2 tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 tsp Rice Wine Vinegar, 1 tsp Sesame Oil, 1 tsp Honey)
Preparation -
I start by boiling ½ cup of chicken broth with 1 tsp of kosher salt and ¼ tsp of sugar. Once it starts to bubble, i'll take it off heat and then i'll add 1 ½ cups of all purpose flour. I'll mix it well with my wooden spoon until the flour becomes moist and then I'll turn it over on my countertop and start kneading. I'll knead it for 3-5 minutes until the dough is elastic and it's smooth like a baby's bottom. This process is really great for relieving any stress.
I'll wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
In the meantime, i'll work on my green onion mixture. I'm taking 3 stalks of onion and slicing it, using only the green parts. Next I'll finely mince 1 clove of garlic to give it a little bit of extra flavor. Now in a small bowl, i'll combine the green onions and garlic with a tsp of sesame oil and 2 tbsp of melted ghee, also known as clarified butter. I like to use melted ghee because it adds a little bit of extra buttery flavor but you can also substitute with melted butter or even vegetable oil. I'll heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds to meld the flavor and then give it a quick stir and then set it aside.
When the dough is ready, i'll divide it into quarters and on a floured surface, i'll roll the dough out as thin as possible into a circle, and then coat it with a layer of melted ghee. The fat from the ghee will help create layers when you fry them up later. Now i'll add my green onion mixture, and spread everything out. I'll roll the dough up and then i'll coil it into a circle. And then using my rolling pin i'll roll it out into a pancake. And it's ready to be pan fried!
In a large frying pan on medium-high heat, i'll heat some vegetable oil for a minute, then add my green onion pancake. I'll pan fry each side for about 3 minutes until its nice, golden brown, and the kitchen starts to smell amazing. When it's done, i'll just slice it into triangles and enjoy it with some soy dipping sauce!
This dish is so easy to make and it can be used as breakfast or even snack-time staple, not just when having Chinese food. I like to make the pancake dough ahead of time and freeze it so it's ready at a moment's notice. I hope you like this recipe. Give it a try and i'll catch you later! bye!

Ginger Scallion Sauce
(Makes about 3 cups)
•2½ cups thinly sliced scallions (greens and whites; from 1 to 2 large bunches)
•½ cup finely minced peeled fresh ginger
•1/4 cup grapeseed or other neutral oil
•1½ teaspoons usukuchi (light soy sauce)
•3/4 teaspoon sherry vinegar
•3/4 teaspoon kosher salt, or more to taste
Mix together the scallions, ginger, oil, soy, vinegar, and salt in a bowl. Taste and check for salt, adding more if needed. Though it's best after 15 or 20 minutes of sitting, ginger scallion sauce is good from the minute it's stirred together up to a day or two in the fridge. Use as directed, or apply as needed.

2 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tsp sugar
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Directions:
1. Slice cucumbers thinly, sprinkle sea salt over cucumber slices and mix, and let rest for 5-10 min
2. Mix rice vinegar, red pepper flakes, toasted sesame seeds, scallion, garlic and sugar for the dressing.
3. Was off salt from cucumbers in cold water and gently squeeze to remove excess water.
4. Mix cucumbers in dressing and serve chilled

1/4 cup cooking oil (canola or sunflower seed)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown rice flour
1 tsp bake powder
2 cloves of garlic (peeled and grated)
1 egg replacer (we used 1 tbsp golden flax meal and 2.5 tbsp water)
1/2 tsp salt
pinch of black pepper
3/4 cup water
Simple dipping sauce:
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
sesame oil
pinch of red pepper flakes
pinch of sesame seeds
Directions:
1. Combing all-purpose flour, brown rice flower, baking powder, garlic, egg replacer, black pepper, and water and whisk to a consistency of smooth pancake batter.
2. Trim scallions and cut into 2 inch sticks. Right before cooking the pancakes, fold the scallions in the batter.
3. Heat skillet over medium heat and drizzle enough oil to generously coat the bottom of the skillet.
4. When oil is shimmering, spread 1/4 cup of the batter into a thin round on the skillet. When the bottom has turned gold brown, flip the pancakes. Once cooked on both sides drain excess oil on paper towels.
5. Mix together ingredients for dipping sauce and serve warm

2 stalks of scallions, chopped
1 tbsp of salt
2 tbsp of sesame oil
White pepper
Directions:
1. In a medium size bowl, add flour and water and mix until roughly combined.
2. Knead the dough on a floured work surface until smooth dough forms. Cover the dough with wet paper towel and set aside for 10 minutes.
3. While the dough rests, prepare your other ingredients. Chop 2 stalks of scallions, use both the green and white parts, and set aside. Pour about 2 tbsp of sesame oil in a small bowl and set aside. Prepare about 1 tbsp of salt in a dish and set aside.
4. After the dough has rested, knead for a minute and divide into two equal portions.
5. Take one portion of dough, roll out to about ¼'' thickness.
6. Brush sesame oil over the exposed surface of dough.
7. Spread a handful of the chopped scallions on the dough.
8. Sprinkle salt and white pepper.
9. Roll the dough into a tight cylinder.
10. Take the dough cylinder and coil up like a cinnamon bun.
11. Flatten the dough and roll out again into 1/4'' thickness.
12. Heat oil in pan at medium heat. Place pancake into pan and pan-fry for about 3 minutes a side or until golden brown.
13. Cut scallion pancake into wedges and serve as is or with your favorite dipping sauce.
PRO TIP:
While the pancake is cooking, use your spatula to flatten the pancake to ensure the center is cooked.
My favorite dipping sauce is a mixture of soy sauce, red vinegar, ginger and garlic, but that's because I like everything salty. This is good as is. Enjoy!
