This version of Been a Son is different than the one that is found on Incesticide. Chad Channing was still the drummer when the band recorded this, unlike the Incesticide version which features Dave Grohl. This song appeared on the Blew EP and later on the Nirvana best-of compilation with the same name. In my opinion, this is the best version of Been a Son, the best part of the song is the bass solo, even though Krist Novoselic doesn't like it.

A two-minute verse-chorus-verse-chorus concoction influenced by the Vaselines' compact pop-punk template, "Been A Son" first roared to life on 1989's Blew EP with Chad Channing on drums, appeared later in a Dave Grohl-assisted live performance on the CD single of "Lithium," and most famously emerged on Incesticide via a BBC session -- one of the rare Nirvana songs to be officially released in three different versions during the band's lifetime. The song was clearly a favorite of Cobain's, possibly inspired by his difficult relationship with his father, who would have preferred him to engage in more "manly" pursuits like sports and hunting rather than art or music. The song also appears on the From The Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah live album.
There was a bass solo in the earlier mix of this song, but Novoselic said that he was disappointed with the sound and it was cut before being replaced with a guitar solo. The bass solo is just the same note for note as the main bass riff of the song, but it is played with distortion.

Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 – April 5, 1994) was an American singer-songwriter, musician and artist, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the grunge band Nirvana. Cobain formed Nirvana with Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in 1985 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene, having its debut album Bleach released on the independent record label Sub Pop in 1989.
After signing with major label DGC Records, the band found breakthrough success with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from its second album Nevermind (1991). Following the success of Nevermind, Nirvana was labeled "the flagship band" of Generation X, and Cobain hailed as "the spokesman of a generation". Cobain, however, was often uncomfortable and frustrated, believing his message and artistic vision to have been misinterpreted by the public, with his personal issues often subject to media attention. He challenged Nirvana's audience with its final studio album In Utero (1993).
During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with heroin addiction, illness and depression. He also had difficulty coping with his fame and public image, and the professional and lifelong personal pressures surrounding himself and his wife, musician Courtney Love. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead at his home in Seattle, the victim of what was officially ruled a suicide by a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. The circumstances of his death at age 27 have become a topic of public fascination and debate. Since their debut, Nirvana, with Cobain as a songwriter, has sold over 25 million albums in the U.S. alone, and over 50 million worldwide.

El 8 de abril de 1994 un electricista encontró el cadáver del músico Kurt Cobain. Junto a él había una pistola, una jeringa y un gran charco de sangre. Desde ese momento comenzó la polémica: ¿Suicidio o asesinato? Inmediatamente las informaciones sobre la muerte del ídolo grunge comenzaron a circular por la incipiente Internet, hasta que acabaron en el libro "¿Quién mató a Kurt Cobain?" escrito por los canadienses Max Wallance y Ian Halperin, y en la película "Kurt & Courtney", dirigida por Nick Broomfield. Motivado por todas las dudas que había detrás de la muerte del cantante Kurt Cobain, Broomfield comenzó en 1997 a recopilar material para realizar su película. Contactó para ello con familiares y amigos del guitarrista de Nirvana. El film desarrolla, desde distintos puntos de vista, la vida del líder de Nirvana, la tumultuosa relación que mantuvo con su esposa Courtney Love y su polémica muerte

UPDATE May 2014: Edgar Klüsener, the interviewer (who I haven't seen in over 20 years!) contacted me recently to say thanks for uploading this video; he had lost his copy years ago. He kindly gave me some more info on the interview: "Just for your own info: the interview was primarily for a number of print publications, among those two guitar magazines (which explains some of the questions). The camera crew was hired by a German TV station who hadn't managed to secure their own interview slot and asked me if they could film my interview instead. Since I recorded the interview using my own device, I was not miked up, hence my voice was mostly captured by Kurt's microphone." UPDATE May 2014: Edgar Klüsener, the interviewer (who I haven't seen in over 20 years!) contacted me recently to say thanks for uploading this video; he had lost his copy years ago. He kindly gave me some more info on the interview:
"Just for your own info: the interview was primarily for a number of print publications, among those two guitar magazines (which explains some of the questions). The camera crew was hired by a German TV station who hadn't managed to secure their own interview slot and asked me if they could film my interview instead. Since I recorded the interview using my own device, I was not miked up, hence my voice was mostly captured by Kurt's microphone."
I recently found an old VHS tape with this full interview, and managed to get it onto DVD and now upload it. Way back in 1993, a friend of mine knew a guy who worked for German TV - he interviewed lots of bands. On a night out, I told him I was a big Nirvana fan, and he said he'd recently interviewed them, and did I want a copy of the tape! I said yes of course, and he sent me the tape. Here it is, I haven't seen this interview anywhere else, so I think it's pretty rare. Enjoy!

With the Lights Out è stato pubblicato nel novembre del2004; il titolo With the Lights Out è una citazione dal ritornello di Smells Like Teen Spirit. Secondo Rolling Stone. L'uscita venne inizialmente annunciata per il settembre 2001, in occasione del decimo anniversario della pubblicazione del celebrato Nevermind, ma una disputa legale tra la vedova di Cobain, Courtney Love, e i restanti membri dei Nirvana Dave Grohl e Krist Novoselic bloccò il tutto.
La disputa verteva principalmente su You Know You're Right, un brano registrato in studio nel gennaio 1994 durante l'ultima seduta di registrazione del gruppo. Grohl e Novoselic volevano inserire la traccia nel box set, ma la Love mise il suo veto perché pensava andasse sprecata in una compilation così dispersiva e avrebbe preferito pubblicare la canzone su singolo.
Tra le rarità interessanti presenti nell’album, figura la canzone Do Re Mi, composta nel 1994 e rimasta inedita fino al 2004. La versione che appare sul box set è da attribuirsi ad un demo casalingo fatto dallo stesso Kurt Cobainnel marzo del 1994. La canzone era nota anche con il nome ME and I IV, da un foglietto di carta trovato da Courtney Love, sul quale erano annotati alcuni versi della canzone. Dalla biografia di Charles Cross Heavier Than Heaven (in italiano, Più pesante del cielo, ed. Arcana), risulta sicuramente che la canzone fa parte di almeno un demo eseguito da Cobain, Erlandson e Pat Smear durante il marzo 1994. Pare che lo stesso Cobain, che aveva dichiarato più volte l'intenzione di sciogliere i Nirvana o comunque di lavorare con diversi musicisti, suoni la batteria di questo demo. La versione acustica presente nel box set With the Lights Out è da segnalarsi per la sua delicata e fragile armonia, giocata sulla voce di Cobain con sfumature pop e la sua chitarra acustica. ◢ Using a complex pattern of binaural beat and isochronic tone frequencies dedicated to help you achieve good sleep and have lucid dreams, this 8-hour music track is divided into four unique sections. In the first 2 hours we've used frequencies that range from 3-13Hz (Alpha-Theta range) to help calm your mind and feel deeply relaxed. There is a pleasurable feeling of floating and it will give effects such as stress reduction, relaxed awareness, release of serotonin, and an induction to sleep spindles as your mind and body allows itself into sleep. It also contains triggers for creativity and imagery and access to subconscious images as you doze off.
The second and third sections contain more of the Theta waves, which are also present in dreaming, sleep, deep meditation and creative inspiration. As you have already fallen asleep, the binaural beats tap into your subconsciousness as your mind prepares itself into a lucid dream state. The music is more steady so as not to interrupt your sleep.
The fourth and last section returns itself to the Alpha range with a mix of Theta and Delta. This is where deep sleep occurs and more often than not, the dream state. There is a decreased awareness of the physical world. This section also contains the Earth Resonance or Schumann Resonance, which will leave you feeling revitalized upon waking up.
In order to achieve Lucid Dreaming, please research on different tips found on the web. Lucid Dreaming doesn't happen all at once, so patience is an important factor.
