Emperor Nijō
Emperor Nijō (二条天皇 Nijō-tennō) (July 31, 1143 – September 5, 1165) was the 78th emperor of Japan, according to the traditional order of succession. His reign spanned the years from 1158 through 1165.
Genealogy
Before his ascension to the Chrysanthemum Throne, his personal name (his imina) was Morihito-shinnō (守仁親王).
He was the eldest son of Emperor Go-Shirakawa. He was the father of Emperor Rokujō.
Events of Nijō's life
Nijō was proclaimed as heir to Emperor Go-Shirakawa.

Known as the Kyoto residence of the famous leader Tokugawa Ieyasu, (the first shogun of the Edo Period), Nijō Castle is a stronghold that represents the prestige and power of the mighty leader known as the unifier of Japan. Construction on the castle was begun in 1603 and finished 23 years later by Ieyasu’s grandson Iemitsu. In 1939, the castle was donated to the city of Kyoto and was officially opened to the public. Japanese monarchy is claimed to be the oldest continuous hereditary monarchy in the world. Nijo castle in Kyoto, The world heritage
Nijo Castle in Kyoto was built in 1603 by Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo Shogunate, to protect the Kyoto Imperial Palace where the emperor lived. It was also used as a lodging when the shogun went to Kyoto. The shogun welcomed the emperor at Nijo Castle. It was also used for meetings with feudal lords from all over Japan. It was the perfect place to display the power of the shogun, and was decorated with splendor. In 1867, the 15th shogun Yoshinobu expressed his intention to return the power of the shogun family to the emperor at this castle, marking the dawn of modern Japan. The historic Honmaru Palace garden located inside Nijo Castle in Kyoto, Japan. 二条城 本丸御殿 The palace was under construction the day that I arrived, but we do get to walk around the lovely garden. Honmaru Palace (本丸御殿, Honmaru Goten) has a surface area of 1,600 square meters (17,000 square feet). The complex has four parts: living quarters, reception and entertainment rooms, entrance halls and kitchen area. The different areas are connected by corridors and courtyards. The architectural style is late Edo period. The palace displays paintings by several famous masters, such as Kanō Eigaku. Honmaru Palace was originally similar to Ninomaru Palace. The palace was under construction the day that I arrived, but we do get to walk around the lovely garden.
Honmaru Palace (本丸御殿, Honmaru Goten) has a surface area of 1,600 square meters (17,000 square feet). The complex has four parts: living quarters, reception and entertainment rooms, entrance halls and kitchen area. The different areas are connected by corridors and courtyards. The architectural style is late Edo period. The palace displays paintings by several famous masters, such as Kanō Eigaku.
Honmaru Palace was originally similar to Ninomaru Palace. The original structures were replaced by the present structures between 1893 and 1894, by moving one part of the former Katsura Palace within the Kyoto Imperial Enclosure (Kyoto Gyoen, the enclosure surrounding the Kyoto Imperial Palace) to the inner ward of Nijō Castle, as part of the systematic clearing of the disused residences and palaces in the Imperial Enclosure after the Imperial Court moved to Tokyo in 1869. In its original location the palace had 55 buildings, but only a small part was relocated. In 1928 the enthronement banquet of the Shōwa Emperor (Emperor Hirohito) was held here.

On Thursday, January 25, one of the most heartfelt moments on the Barrett-Jackson block was the sale of the first of the auction’s four charity vehicles. Lot 3000, a 2023 @Chevrolet Corvette Z06 3LZ, brought the gavel down on a winning bid of $220,000. Noted philanthropist and long time friend of Barrett-Jackson, Michelle Mauzy, donated an additional $50,000 to the cause, bringing the total raised to $270,000. With no fees or commissions added to charity cars, 100% of the hammer price will go directly to The Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation, which aims to raise awareness of amyloidosis and raise funds for educational and research purposes.
The 2024 Scottsdale Auction has continued to set auction world records day after day with many spectacular sales. Thursday was a shining example, with over 30 auction world records broken and set. Highlights of the day included Lot 792.1, a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427/435, Lot 803.1, a 2023 @Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, and Lot 806, a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air custom hardtop. Each sold for $220,000.
Other notable sales from the day included Lot 801, a 1979 @ford Bronco Custom SUV, for $216,700; Lot 740, a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and Lot 801.1, a 1970 Chevrolet K10 custom pickup, each selling for $176,000.
As the Barrett-Jackson 2024 Scottsdale Auction heads into its high-octane final three days, the collector cars are heading into the fast lane. On Friday, January 26, over 400 more of the world’s most sought-after vehicles will cross the block with No Reserve.

Known as the Kyoto residence of the famous leader Tokugawa Ieyasu, (the first shogun of the Edo Period), Nijō Castle is a stronghold that represents the prestige and power of the mighty leader known as the unifier of Japan. Construction on the castle was begun in 1603 and finished 23 years later by Ieyasu’s grandson Iemitsu. In 1939, the castle was donated to the city of Kyoto and was officially opened to the public. Japanese monarchy is claimed to be the oldest continuous hereditary monarchy in the world. The Imperial House recognizes 126 monarchs beginning with the legendary Emperor Jimmu (traditionally dated to 660 BC) and continuing up to the current emperor, Naruhito. In Japan, the position of emperor was typically inherited through the male line (although the eldest son did not necessarily inherit the role), but there were nine female holders of the position, the first being Empress Suiko (r. 592-628 CE) and the last Empress Meisho (r. 1629-1643 CE)

Nijo Castle in Kyoto was built in 1603 by Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo Shogunate, to protect the Kyoto Imperial Palace where the emperor lived. It was also used as a lodging when the shogun went to Kyoto.
The shogun welcomed the emperor at Nijo Castle. It was also used for meetings with feudal lords from all over Japan. It was the perfect place to display the power of the shogun, and was decorated with splendor.
In 1867, the 15th shogun Yoshinobu expressed his intention to return the power of the shogun family to the emperor at this castle, marking the dawn of modern Japan. After that, it was used as the Emperor's villa.
Nijo Castle is an important place to commemorate in Japanese history. The Ninomaru Palace, the Ninomaru Garden, the Karamon Gate, etc. are still beautiful after about 400 years. It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Nijo Castle is a valuable historical heritage that has seen the rise and fall of the Tokugawa family and the long history of Japan.

The historic Honmaru Palace garden located inside Nijo Castle in Kyoto, Japan. 二条城 本丸御殿
The palace was under construction the day that I arrived, but we do get to walk around the lovely garden.
Honmaru Palace (本丸御殿, Honmaru Goten) has a surface area of 1,600 square meters (17,000 square feet). The complex has four parts: living quarters, reception and entertainment rooms, entrance halls and kitchen area. The different areas are connected by corridors and courtyards. The architectural style is late Edo period. The palace displays paintings by several famous masters, such as Kanō Eigaku.
Honmaru Palace was originally similar to Ninomaru Palace. The original structures were replaced by the present structures between 1893 and 1894, by moving one part of the former Katsura Palace within the Kyoto Imperial Enclosure (Kyoto Gyoen, the enclosure surrounding the Kyoto Imperial Palace) to the inner ward of Nijō Castle, as part of the systematic clearing of the disused residences and palaces in the Imperial Enclosure after the Imperial Court moved to Tokyo in 1869. In its original location the palace had 55 buildings, but only a small part was relocated. In 1928 the enthronement banquet of the Shōwa Emperor (Emperor Hirohito) was held here.

On Thursday, January 25, one of the most heartfelt moments on the Barrett-Jackson block was the sale of the first of the auction’s four charity vehicles. Lot 3000, a 2023 @Chevrolet Corvette Z06 3LZ, brought the gavel down on a winning bid of $220,000. Noted philanthropist and long time friend of Barrett-Jackson, Michelle Mauzy, donated an additional $50,000 to the cause, bringing the total raised to $270,000. With no fees or commissions added to charity cars, 100% of the hammer price will go directly to The Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation, which aims to raise awareness of amyloidosis and raise funds for educational and research purposes.
The 2024 Scottsdale Auction has continued to set auction world records day after day with many spectacular sales. Thursday was a shining example, with over 30 auction world records broken and set. Highlights of the day included Lot 792.1, a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427/435, Lot 803.1, a 2023 @Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, and Lot 806, a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air custom hardtop. Each sold for $220,000.
Other notable sales from the day included Lot 801, a 1979 @ford Bronco Custom SUV, for $216,700; Lot 740, a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and Lot 801.1, a 1970 Chevrolet K10 custom pickup, each selling for $176,000.
As the Barrett-Jackson 2024 Scottsdale Auction heads into its high-octane final three days, the collector cars are heading into the fast lane. On Friday, January 26, over 400 more of the world’s most sought-after vehicles will cross the block with No Reserve.

The standard establishes, instead, a broader framework of mechanisms by which to achieve systematic and systemic data quality through effective data governance and assurance.
