The Jaguar, a magnificent and ferocious big cat that originates from the
Americas. Its name is derived from the languages of the native peoples of
Amazonia and means ‘true beast’. But the
Jaguar has another name –
Panthera onca. This is its
Latin binomial name, but why does it have one? What does it mean?
