The Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event, often referred to as the Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event, occurred approximately 65.5 million years ago (Ma) at the end of the Maastrichtian age of the Cretaceous period. It was a large-scale mass extinction of animal and plant species in a geologically short period of time. Also known as the K–T extinction event, it is associated with a geological signature known variously as the K–T boundary, the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary or the K–Pg boundary, usually a thin band of sedimentation visible wherever rocks of this age are exposed. In the abbreviated versions of the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary, the K is the traditional abbreviation for the Cretaceous Period derived from the German name Kreidezeit, the Pg is the abbreviation for the Paleogene Period, and T is the abbreviation for the Tertiary Period (comprising the Paleogene and Neogene). The event marks the end of the Mesozoic Era and the beginning of the Cenozoic Era. With "Tertiary" being discouraged as a formal time or rock unit by the International Commission on Stratigraphy, the K–T extinction event is now called the Cretaceous–Paleogene (or K–Pg) extinction event by many researchers.
A year (from Old English gēar) is the orbital period of the Earth moving around the Sun. For an observer on Earth, this corresponds to the period it takes the Sun to complete one course throughout the zodiac along the ecliptic.
In astronomy, the Julian year is a unit of time, defined as 365.25 days of 86400 SI seconds each.
There is no universally accepted symbol for the year as a unit of time. The International System of Units does not propose one. A common abbreviation in international use is a (for Latin annus), in English also y or yr.
Due to the Earth's axial tilt, the course of a year sees the passing of the seasons, marked by changes in weather, hours of daylight, and consequently vegetation and fertility. In temperate and subpolar regions, generally four seasons are recognized: spring, summer, autumn and winter, astronomically marked by the Sun reaching the points of equinox and solstice, although the climatic seasons lag behind their astronomical markers. In some tropical and subtropical regions it is more common to speak of the rainy (or wet, or monsoon) season versus the dry season.
I didn't come to kiss the bride
So don't seat me on either side
I just came by to see the show
I'm close enough, I'll stand right here
I can see and I can hear; course
I heard it all years ago.
I hear the organ play a minor melody
Is that the one they call their song
Church vows always, make love sound so easy
But "As long as you live" is so long.
I didn't come to kiss the bride
Nor come to call the groom outside, no
I can't stay and say hello
That's not the reason I came by
I came today to say goodbye to
Something that happened years ago.
I hear the organ play a minor melody
Is that the one they call their song
What God joined together, let no man put asunder
But He sure put us under, right or wrong?
Give the bride and groom my best
And tell her mom and all the rest that
I was here but really had to go
Reception line's too long outside, and
I didn't come to kiss the bride
I did all that years ago.
There's no reason I should stay
The groom won't shake hands anyway, and
