In fiction, a subplot is a secondary strand of the plot that is a supporting side story for any story or the main plot. Subplots may connect to main plots, in either time and place or in thematic significance. Subplots often involve supporting characters, those besides the protagonist or antagonist.
Subplots are distinguished from the main plot by taking up less of the action, having fewer significant events occur, with less impact on the 'world' of the work, and occurring to less important characters.
In screenwriting, a subplot is referred to as a "B story" or a "C story," etc.
In William Shakespeare's play Henry IV, Part II, the main plot concerns Henry's growth from "Hal" the prince to "Henry" the king and the reconquest of French territory. A subplot, however, concerns Falstaff's participation in the battles. Falstaff and Henry meet at several points, and Falstaff is a familiar of Henry's, but otherwise his plot and Henry's do not mix. Even though the plots may be thematically connected, they are not connected in action.
Design Inc. is a Canadian television series, which airs on HGTV in Canada and Fine Living Network (now Cooking Channel) in the United States. The show also airs on SIC Mulher in Portugal and Living in New Zealand.
Hosted by Toronto interior designer Sarah Richardson, the series profiles design projects taken on by the staff of Richardson's firm. Most episodes take place in a conventional home or condo space, although the firm and the series have also taken on projects in a boathouse, a yurt, a hotel room, a Toronto restaurant, a converted pigsty, a baseball player's luxury suite at the Rogers Centre, and Toronto's Carlu theatre and event space.
Richardson also hosted the related series Room Service and Sarah's House, in which she purchased and renovated an entire home.
Matthew Clark is a United Kingdom based drinks distributor, owned by Conviviality Plc.
The company was formed in 1810 by Matthew Clark, the son of Charles Clark, Inspector General of Imported Liquors and Distillery at the Port of London and later Merchants' Gauger of wines and spirits for the City of London merchants. It was known for most of its history as a City of London wine and spirit importer called Matthew Clark and Sons. Six generations of the Clark/Gordon Clark family worked in it while it was an independent company. It was originally based in Great Tower Street, then from 1925 at 14 Trinity Square, Tower Hill, from 1956 at Walbrook House, and from 1972 at the Finsbury Distillery, the premises of the firm of that name, manufacturers of Stone’s Ginger wine, taken over in 1964. The Leeds based firm of J. E. Mather, manufacturer of "Barchester British Wine", was taken over 1965-7. But the main business of the firm was that of representing foreign companies, principally from 1814 J. & F. Martell of Cognac, the great French brandy house, John DeKuyper & Son of Rotterdam, manufacturers of gin, by 1827, and up to 1925 Pedro Domecq, the sherry producers of Jerez de la Frontera. The archives of the firm were deposited in the Guildhall Library and are now in the London Metropolitan Archives; they are of considerable interest for the history of the wine and spirit trade in the 19th and early 20th century.

http://creativewritingtutorials.blogspot.com Show notes: Find and map out the plot and all the subplots in your story. Work on them separately to improve your story. It's better to look at each subplot separated from the rest of the story. Use subplot to make three dimensional characters. Each character should have their own lives besides what they do to push the plot forward. It's good to work outside of the story you are writing. Map out the main plot and then find the sub plots. Relationships in the story are usually subplots. A relationship is always changing so the change of relationship between characters can be worked out as a subplots. Plots have the set up, factors that play out in the plot and the conclusion, resolution, end or some complete change that will satisfy the rea...

When it came time to re-examine some of Subplot Design Incs own self-promotional materials, they noticed that the Self-Promotional Video was a new phenomenon popping up on many local and international design firm and agency websites over the past year. But as anyone would expect from Subplot, they have subverted the format with their first SubplotReel which launched online yesterday. We just kept seeing the same old clichés out there, says Matthew Clark, Subplot Principal and Creative Director. Ridiculously fast, rock-and-roll videos; pretentious, arty, pseudo-philosophizing; and photography so abstract and blurry that you cant even make out the quality of the work itself. So when it came time to do our own video, we knew we had to poke fun and turn the paradigm on its head. The video ta...
During the summer of 2009 I was fortunate enough to return to Subplot Design Inc. for four months, completing my second internship for the Vancouver based design firm. This opportunity allowed me to exercise my motion graphics skills by creating a self-promotional video showcasing the design work that the studio has accumulated over the years. Take a moment to view this piece and you will see that it's not an ordinary design reel. Poking fun at all the clichés we've seen in numerous reels out in the industry, this video came to life with the unique creative direction that can only come from Subplot, while also supporting their approach to Graphic Design and Brand Identity creation. Design Firm: Subplot Design Inc Creative Directors: Matthew Clark & Roy White Art Direction: Matthew Clark...
Usually before every wedding, Mac and I meet with each couple and get to hear their story of how they met and fell in love. We get to hang out and spend time just getting to know them so we will be able to tell their story better when the wedding day comes. WE get to hear the story. But usually, you don’t. Well, for Tina and Kupa you DO! Before filming Tina + Kupa's (absolutely incredible, beautiful, heart felt) day, we created their engagement film. We spent some time down by Kits beach, asked them to each to tell their story and just watched them interact. And we are so happy with the result. This couple's story is very unique. The way they met, the way they live their lives, their vision for the future – it’s not your average story. Anything I tell you about them before you watch t...

Official Music Video for UK group The Goods - "Show You How I Feel"
TEDx Sydney asked me to pitch a film concept for their event in Carriageworks, which took place on Saturday 26 May 2012. I have long wanted to shoot a dance film and had a couple of ideas in the back of my head. So I pitched the idea of dancers coming together in a colourful space to the TEDx curators, as a kind of metaphor for collaboration and inspiration. But to be honest, the sub-plot for this abstract, ambient film came from a darker place. In Bret Easton Ellis's book 'Lunar Park' there's a really eerie sub-plot around kids who engage in a kind of cult, where they meet online and organise to come together in some shopping mall or other, then they just disappear. It's never explained. In this film I imagine the place where these kids end up. A kind of smoke filled nether world where t...

Late night comes are you home?
No you're not
You're out with urge to satisfy yourself
it's your vicious plot
Looking back I realize that it's my fault
I'm not around so your love comes to a halt
You have no remorse in you
It's the only thing you know
You destroy me every time you little cunt
I never wanted this
Gave myself to you to get paid back with lies
Every time I trust you I lose in the end
I feel disgust in myself
I love how you can call me and pretend you're innocent
While I'm out here trying to better myself
You're a pig when it comes to my emotions
You drown me in your wake because you have no devotion
You have no remorse in you
It's the only thing you know
You destroy me every time you little cunt
I never wanted this
Gave myself to you to get paid back with lies
