Gah! Just wanted to say how PROUD I am of this video. I love the way this one came out, and, considering it was made in WMM (which kept crashing ARRRGH!) it worked out pretty fine and dandy. If I do say so myself. Which I do. Instead of blathering on I shall summarise with two things:
1) It took three hours to make the opening twenty odd seconds.
2) I shall now tell you the storyline, and enjoy the AMV!
STORY:
Merlin is very close to Arthur, (make your own conclusions), but wishes Arthur would return some sort of emotion. He uses his magic to vent his anger.
Bad idea.
His magic begins to consume him, creating a darker side. Every time Arthur frustrates him, he vents his anger more and more powerfully, until soon he can't escape his dark side's grip.
Uther suspects Merlin, but Arthur is unsure, remembering his time with Merlin.
Morgana tries to warn Arthur, but Dark!Merlin dismisses her. She dreams of Merlin, and how he murders Arthur, but when she gets there, it's too late. Arthur is dead.
Merlin, struggling with his two sides, tries to give his life in turn for Arthur's, but his Dark!Merlin side won't let him. He duels himself in his mind, fighting. Merlin kills his darker side with his purer magic, but destroys himself too.

Made because Merlin and Arthur always rescue each other. Slightly AU storyline.
Merlin and Arthur have been together a long time. At first it was happy but things soon get strained between the two. They know that their relationship is going downhill but they choose to ignore it. However, Merlin decides that it is time to leave. Arthur realises that he made a mistake in letting him go. Uther tells him that he caused it and he might just have to live with it. Nevertheless he goes in search for the one person who has rescued him throughout his life. When Arthur is attacked Merlin finds him in the forest and saves him. They are reconciled and Arthur is sorry for acting the way he did, but Merlin tells him that it wasn't his fault. When they return to Camelot, Merlin is poisoned and it is Arthur turn to rescue Merlin. Rescuing each other it brings them closer than they ever have been before despite what other people tell them.

This is my first video. Hope you enjoy it! it took ALOT of mucking around to get the file types and everything right to upload.
This video explores two loves. One which works and one which doesn't. I found myself almost crying making this, the scenes with Merlin saying goodbye to Freya are heartbreaking, and I hope my video and song does them justice.

my late entry for the amazing merlin competition! Im so grateful i was allowed to post my entry! unfortunately, i had exams and due that i wasnt able to upload it yesterday. Uploading it today :)
Storyline[AU]
Everything goes just like in the series - Merlin is a good guy helping everyone... or is he? No one knew him that well to know. Before diying, his mother sends a letter to Gaius telling him about Merlin's real character. She feels like she needs to tell someone what evil is there in her son. Gaius confronts Merlin telling him he knows. Merlin has no other choice but to kill his good friend. Devastated by that, and affected by the evil demon inside, Merlin falls into a deep depression. He becomes darker with each day. Morgana confronts him telling that she knows he killed Gaius. Merlin poisons her and all hell breaks loose. He is dark, darker than ever. When Arthur suspects something, Merlin kills him too. Then he burns Camelot thus making his plan into life.

This took me a while to make (I think I used almost every episode of the series in here! ), but it was fun. I've been wanting to make a video with all Merlin's powerful magic scenes for a while. Making this video though really emphasized to me that most of Merlin's awesome magic scenes are in the earlier seasons! This is so wrong. I feel like the writers got lazy once again and kept doing the "throw me backwards spells" instead of trying to come up with something more interesting! Gah!
Ah, well, I hope you enjoy the video. It honestly didn't come out quite as good as I'd been picturing in my head, but then that happens a lot.

Merlin
Merlin is a legendary figure best known as the wizard featured in Arthurian legend. The standard depiction of the character first appears in Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae, written c. 1136, and is based on an amalgamation of previous historical and legendary figures. Geoffrey combined existing stories of Myrddin Wyllt (Merlinus Caledonensis), a North Brythonic prophet and madman with no connection to King Arthur, with tales of the Romano-British war leader Ambrosius Aurelianus to form the composite figure he called Merlin Ambrosius (Welsh: Myrddin Emrys). He is allegedly buried in the Broceliande forest, near Paimpont in Brittany.
Geoffrey's rendering of the character was immediately popular, especially in Wales. Later writers expanded the account to produce a fuller image of the wizard. Merlin's traditional biography casts him as a cambion: born of a mortal woman, sired by an incubus, the non-human from whom he inherits his supernatural powers and abilities. The name of Merlin's mother is not usually stated but is given as Adhan in the oldest version of the Prose Brut. Merlin matures to an ascendant sagehood and engineers the birth of Arthur through magic and intrigue. Closer Than Ever
Closer Than Ever is a musical revue in two acts, with words by Richard Maltby, Jr. and music by David Shire. The revue contains no dialogue, and Maltby and Shire have described this show as a "bookless book musical". The show was originally conceived by Steven Scott Smith as a one act revue entitled "Next Time Now!", which was first given at the nightclub Eighty-Eights.
The success of "Next Time Now!" led to a much expanded production retitled Closer Than Ever that was co-directed by Maltby and Smith. This production began its life at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts during the Summer of 1989. It came to New York the following Fall, opening in previews on 17 October 1989, and officially opening on 6 November 1989 at the off-Broadway Cherry Lane Theatre, where it ran for 312 performances. The cast included Brent Barrett, Sally Mayes, Richard Muenz, and Lynne Wintersteller.
Closer Than Ever features self-contained songs which deal with such diverse topics as security, aging, mid-life crisis, second marriages, working couples, and unrequited love. Maltby and Shire based many of the songs on real-life experiences of their friends, or stories told to them. The revue won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical and Maltby, Shire, and Wintersteller all garnered Drama Desk Award nominations for their respective contributions. The original New York cast recorded an album of the revue for RCA Victor (RCA Victor 60399).

Arthur
Arthur is a common masculine given name. Its etymology is disputed, but its popularity derives from its being the name of the legendary hero King Arthur.
Art and Artie are diminutive forms of the name. A common spelling variant used in many Slavic, Romance, and Germanic languages is Artur.
Etymology
The origin of the name Arthur remains a matter of debate. Some suggest it is derived from the Roman nomen gentile (family name) Artōrius, of obscure and contested etymology (but possibly of Messapic or Etruscan origin). Some scholars have noted that the legendary King Arthur's name only appears as Arthur, or Arturus, in early Latin Arthurian texts, never as Artōrius (although the Classical Latin Artōrius became Arturius in some Vulgar Latin dialects). However, this may not say anything about the origin of the name Arthur, as Artōrius would regularly become Art(h)ur when borrowed into Welsh.

my late entry for the amazing merlin competition! Im so grateful i was allowed to post my entry! unfortunately, i had exams and due that i wasnt able to upload it yesterday. Uploading it today :) Storyline[AU] Everything goes just like in the series - Merlin is a good guy helping everyone... or is he? No one knew him that well to know. Before diying, his mother sends a letter to Gaius telling him about Merlin's real character. She feels like she needs to tell someone what evil is there in her son. Gaius confronts Merlin telling him he knows. Merlin has no other choice but to kill his good friend. Devastated by that, and affected by the evil demon inside, Merlin falls into a deep depression. He becomes darker with each day. Morgana confronts him telling that she knows he killed Gaius. Merlin poisons her and all hell breaks loose. He is dark, darker than ever. When Arthur suspects something, Merlin kills him too. Then he burns Camelot thus making his plan into life. HOPE YOU ENJOY GUYS! -

Made because Merlin and Arthur always rescue each other. Slightly AU storyline. Merlin and Arthur have been together a long time. At first it was happy but things soon get strained between the two. They know that their relationship is going downhill but they choose to ignore it. However, Merlin decides that it is time to leave. Arthur realises that he made a mistake in letting him go. Uther tells him that he caused it and he might just have to live with it. Nevertheless he goes in search for the one person who has rescued him throughout his life. I found myself almost crying making this, the scenes with Merlin saying goodbye to Freya are heartbreaking, and I hope my video and song does them justice. I've been wanting to make a video with all Merlin's powerful magic scenes for a while. Making this video though really emphasized to me that most of Merlin's awesome magic scenes are in the earlier seasons! This is so wrong. Merlin is very close to Arthur, (make your own conclusions), but wishes Arthur would return some sort of emotion. He uses his magic to vent his anger.
Bad idea.
His magic begins to consume him, creating a darker side. Every time Arthur frustrates him, he vents his anger more and more powerfully, until soon he can't escape his dark side's grip.
Uther suspects Merlin, but Arthur is unsure, remembering his time with Merlin.
Morgana tries to warn Arthur, but Dark!Merlin dismisses her. She dreams of Merlin, and how he murders Arthur, but when she gets there, it's too late. Arthur is dead.
Merlin, struggling with his two sides, tries to give his life in turn for Arthur's, but his Dark!Merlin side won't let him. He duels himself in his mind, fighting. Merlin kills his darker side with his purer magic, but destroys himself too.

This video explores two loves. One which works and one which doesn't. I found myself almost crying making this, the scenes with Merlin saying goodbye to Freya are heartbreaking, and I hope my video and song does them justice.

my late entry for the amazing merlin competition! Im so grateful i was allowed to post my entry! unfortunately, i had exams and due that i wasnt able to upload it yesterday. Uploading it today :)
Storyline[AU]
Everything goes just like in the series - Merlin is a good guy helping everyone... or is he? No one knew him that well to know. Before diying, his mother sends a letter to Gaius telling him about Merlin's real character. She feels like she needs to tell someone what evil is there in her son. Gaius confronts Merlin telling him he knows. Merlin has no other choice but to kill his good friend. Devastated by that, and affected by the evil demon inside, Merlin falls into a deep depression. He becomes darker with each day. Morgana confronts him telling that she knows he killed Gaius. Merlin poisons her and all hell breaks loose. He is dark, darker than ever. When Arthur suspects something, Merlin kills him too. Then he burns Camelot thus making his plan into life.

This took me a while to make (I think I used almost every episode of the series in here! ), but it was fun. I've been wanting to make a video with all Merlin's powerful magic scenes for a while. Making this video though really emphasized to me that most of Merlin's awesome magic scenes are in the earlier seasons! This is so wrong. I feel like the writers got lazy once again and kept doing the "throw me backwards spells" instead of trying to come up with something more interesting! Gah!
Ah, well, I hope you enjoy the video. It honestly didn't come out quite as good as I'd been picturing in my head, but then that happens a lot.
