"Das war eine direkte Folge von sehr schlechtem Qualitätsmanagement, und das begann ganz oben. Die Entscheidungen im Vorstand navigierten die Bank in Richtung von Felsenriffs, und genau da landete sie dann auch."
Der Finanzkonzern - nach der Fusion die größte Hypothekenbank Großbritanniens - hatte rund 55 Milliarden Euro mit Schrottkrediten verloren und war von der britischen Großbank Lloyds im September 2008 unter Druck der Regierung übernommen worden. Lloyds kam dadurch selbst ins Schlingern und konnte nur mit einer staatlichen Finanzspritze im Volumen von 23 Milliarden Euro überleben.
Die Parlamentarier-Kommission sprach sich dafür aus, die verantwortlichen Manager auf Lebenszeit vom Finanzsektor zu fernzuhalten.
Bisher war lediglich der damals für das Firmenkundengeschäft zuständige Manager Peter Cummings bestraft worden. Er wurde von der Finanzaufsicht zu einer Strafe von gut einer halben Million Euro verurteilt und ist auf Lebenszeit aus der Finanzbranche verbannt.

HBOS
HBOS plc is a banking and insurance company in the United Kingdom, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lloyds Banking Group, having been taken over in January 2009. It is the holding company for Bank of Scotland plc, which operates the Bank of Scotland and Halifax brands in the UK, as well as HBOS Australia and HBOS Insurance & Investment Group Limited, the group's insurance division.
HBOS was formed by the 2001 merger of Halifax plc and the Bank of Scotland. The formation of HBOS was heralded as creating a fifth force in British banking as it created a company of comparable size and stature to the established Big Four UK retail banks. It was also the UK's largest mortgage lender. The HBOS Group Reorganisation Act 2006 saw the transfer of Halifax plc to the Bank of Scotland, which was now a registered public limited company, Bank of Scotland plc.
Although officially HBOS is not an abbreviation of any specific words, it is widely presumed to stand for Halifax Bank of Scotland. The corporate headquarters of the group were located on The Mound in Edinburgh, Scotland, the former head office of the Bank of Scotland. Operational headquarters were based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England, the former head office of Halifax.

Die ganze Firma sei gewesen "wie ein Unfall, der darauf wartet, zu passieren."
So finanzierte HBOS Immobilienkredite kurzfristig auf dem Interbankenmarkt - tödlich, wenn der Geldmarkt austrocknet.
Andrew Tyrie, Vorsitzender der Parlamentarischen Kommission für Bankenstandards:
"Das war eine direkte Folge von sehr schlechtem Qualitätsmanagement, und das begann ganz oben. Die Entscheidungen im Vorstand navigierten die Bank in Richtung von Felsenriffs, und genau da landete sie dann auch."
Der Finanzkonzern - nach der Fusion die größte Hypothekenbank Großbritanniens - hatte rund 55 Milliarden Euro mit Schrottkrediten verloren und war von der britischen Großbank Lloyds im September 2008 unter Druck der Regierung übernommen worden. Lloyds kam dadurch selbst ins Schlingern und konnte nur mit einer staatlichen Finanzspritze im Volumen von 23 Milliarden Euro überleben.
Die Parlamentarier-Kommission sprach sich dafür aus, die verantwortlichen Manager auf Lebenszeit vom Finanzsektor zu fernzuhalten.
Bisher war lediglich der damals für das Firmenkundengeschäft zuständige Manager Peter Cummings bestraft worden. Er wurde von der Finanzaufsicht zu einer Strafe von gut einer halben Million Euro verurteilt und ist auf Lebenszeit aus der Finanzbranche verbannt.

Since the UK voted to leave the EU, Lloyds (LSE. LLOY) has slumped by around 24%. That’s largely because of uncertainty regarding the future for the UK economy. Lloyds has considerable exposure to the UK – especially following its acquisition of HBOS during the credit crunch. So reduced demand for new loans from businesses and consumers as well as falling house prices could be very bad news for Lloyds ... Stalling share price growth? ... ....
Regulator to investigate accountants over BHS and HBOS failures

The regulator that monitors UK financial reporting is to investigate two of the big four accountancy firms over their role in the failures of the retailer BHS and the banking group HBOS ... It has begun a parallel investigation into whether KPMG should have signed off on the accounts of HBOS, which was bought by Lloyds as the banking crisis gathered pace in September 2008....

Waking up to BHS and HBOS ... For good measure the FRC – previously seen by many as a sleepy policeman – will examine KPMG’s audit of HBOS in 2007, the year before the bank hit the rocks ... As Andrew Tyrie, the chair of the Treasury select committee, said, the official HBOS report exposed the “staggeringly poor quality” of some of the bank’s loans....

Much to the annoyance of some Game of Thrones fans, George RR Martin is known to take his time crafting the books in his well-loved Song of Ice and Fire series. So much so, HBOs "adaptation" of his writing has already overtaken the novels themselves ... Never a problem ... ....
