Perhaps for the first time in the history of the film industry, so many people from the film fraternity have united under one cause and one man in this fight between Anurag Kashyap and Pahlaj Nihalani.
Anurag Kashyap had tweeted yesterday that this was his and his his fight alone and had asked others to stay away from it. However it was heartening to see big names backing him up.
It is time the entire nation backs this man.

Twenty-Five years ago, a graduate from the Film and Television Institute of India, Sriram Raghavan, made a video docu-drama, Raman Raghav: A City, A Killer, meant for a VHS audience. It was on a serial killer who stalked the streets of Mumbai in the 1960s and killed 40-odd people by bashing their heads in. The video was never released as the series of crime stories it was a part of was scrapped. Anurag Kashyap, who worked on a film on another serial killer, Auto Narayan, for the same series, watched the film and has been fascinated with the killer ever since. A contemporary take on the killer, Raman Raghav 2.0, directed by him, releases on June 24 after a Cannes premiere last month.
Raghavan, 52, and Kashyap, 43, went on to become filmmakers who changed the idiom of Hindi cinema. They are self-proclaimed “film geeks”, who have worked together and tripped on crime fiction and movies. Ahead of Raman Raghav 2.0’s release, they come together for a conversation on their fascination for darker subjects and Bollywood’s crime stories.

s soon as the news broke that Udta Punjab movie has been leaked online, the film’s team managed to remove it online on war footing from torrent sites. While its lead actors and others from the film industry including superstar Aamir Khan have asked people on Twitter not to download the prints and encourage piracy, co-producer Anurag Kashyap has urged downloaders to wait till Saturday till they decide to not pay for the film. The controversial film was leaked online on Wednesday after the Bombay High Court passed the film with A certificate with only a single cut.

Anurag Singh Kashyap (born 10 September 1972) is an Indian film director and screenwriter. As a filmmaker, he is known for Black Friday (2004), a controversial and award-winning Hindi film about the 1993 Bombay bombings, followed by No Smoking (2007), Dev D (2009) and Gulaal (2009). As a screenwriter, he wrote the scripts for the Filmfare Award-winning Satya (1998) and the Academy Award-nominated Canadian film Water (2005).
In 1999, Kashyap won the Best Screenplay award for Satya at the Star Screen Awards. The next year, his short film Last Train to Mahakali won the Special Jury Award at the same awards. His feature film debut Black Friday won the Grand Jury Prize at the 3rd Annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (2005), and was a nominee for the "Golden Leopard" (Best Film) at the 57th Locarno International Film Festival (2004). In 2010, he announced his association with Tumbhi where he and his team will make six short films for Tumbhi and start his blog with them, as well. He was listed on the The DNA power list: Top 50 influentials, a list of 50 most influential Indians in 2011.

Twenty-Five years ago, a graduate from the Film and Television Institute of India, Sriram Raghavan, made a video docu-drama, Raman Raghav: A City, A Killer, meant for a VHS audience. It was on a serial killer who stalked the streets of Mumbai in the 1960s and killed 40-odd people by bashing their heads in. The video was never released as the series of crime stories it was a part of was scrapped. Anurag Kashyap, who worked on a film on another serial killer, Auto Narayan, for the same series, watched the film and has been fascinated with the killer ever since. While its lead actors and others from the film industry including superstar Aamir Khan have asked people on Twitter not to download the prints and encourage piracy, co-producer Anurag Kashyap has urged downloaders to wait till Saturday till they decide to not pay for the film. The controversial film was leaked online on Wednesday after the Bombay High Court passed the film with A certificate with only a single cut.
