This is part of reallyawesome.tv's extensive Chaplin Collection. A very well endowed collection of the silent film legend Charlie Chaplin.
"Mr. Pest tries several theatre seats before winding up in front in a fight with the conductor and, eventually, the entire cast of an evening variety show."
A Night in the Show was Charlie Chaplin's 12th film for Essanay. It was made at Majestic Studio in Los Angeles the fall of 1915. Chaplin played two roles: one as Mr. Pest and one as Mr. Rowdy. The film was created from Chaplin's stage work from a play called Mumming Birds (aka A Night at an English Music Hall in the USA) with the Karno Company from London. Chaplin performed this play during his U.S. tours with Fred Karno company and decided to bring some of this play to his film work. Edna Purviance played a minor role as a lady in the audience.

In this turn Fred Karno (me) realises that I have to redo Zoey's original combat because I forgot the Environment card. I re-did it correctly but then had a brain spasm and thought I hadn't... and re-did it yet again. With too few dice. D'oh. As I noticed this during editing I was able to edit out the final unnecessary repeat combat. :-/ Every other investigator has a much more sedate turn. Interestingly even on that incorrect repeat with too few dice that I edited out... Zoey actually won! She is a goddamn one woman slaughterhouse, Gaff.

Frederick John Westcott (26 March 1866 – 18 September 1941), best known by his stage name Fred Karno, was a theatre impresario of the British music hall. Karno is credited with inventing the custard-pie-in-the-face gag. During the 1890s, in order to circumvent stage censorship, Karno developed a form of sketch comedy without dialogue. Cheeky authority-defying playlets such as "Jail Birds" (1896) in which prisoners play tricks on warders and "Early Birds" (1903) where a small man defeats a large ruffian in London's East End can be seen as precursors of movie silent comedy. In fact, among the young comedians who worked for him were Charlie Chaplin and Arthur Jefferson, who later adopted the name of Stan Laurel. These were part of what was known as “Fred Karno's Army”, a phrase still occasionally used in the UK to refer to a chaotic group or organisation. The phrase was also adapted by British soldiers into a trench song in the First World War, as a parody of, or rather to the tune of, the hymn The Church's One Foundation. In the Second World War it was adapted as the Anthem of the Guinea Pig Club, the first line becoming “We are McIndoe's Army …”.

On 1 March 1978, his corpse was stolen by a small group of Swiss mechanics in an attempt to extort money from his family. The plot failed, the robbers were captured, and the corpse was recovered eleven weeks later near Lake Geneva. His body was reburied under two meters of concrete to prevent further attempts.

Charles Chaplin was born April 16 1889 in London. Both of his parents were actors and singers. He learned entertainment from his parents. In 1910 he toured America with the Fred Karno Troupe. In late 1913 his act was seen by film producer Mack Sennett, who hired Chaplin to work in his studio, the Keystone Film Company. Here he developed his character, The Tramp, and quickly learned the art and craft of film making. The public first saw The Tramp in Chaplin's second film, "Kid Auto Races at Venice".
Chaplin's career in entertainment spanned over 65 years. In 1919 he co-founded "United Artists" with Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, and D.W. Griffith. On March 4 1975 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and became Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin.
