Somalia ( /soʊˈmɑːliə/ soh-MAH-lee-ə; Somali: Soomaaliya; Arabic: الصومال aṣ-Ṣūmāl), officially the Somali Republic (Somali: Jamhuuriyadda Soomaaliya, Arabic: جمهورية الصومال Jumhūriyyat aṣ-Ṣūmāl) and formerly known as the Somali Democratic Republic under Socialist rule, is a country located in the Horn of Africa. Since the outbreak of the Somali Civil War in 1991 there has been no central government control over most of the country's territory. The internationally recognized Transitional Federal Government controls only a small part of the country. Somalia has been characterized as a failed state and is one of the poorest and most violent states in the world.
Somalia lies in the easternmost part of Africa. It is bordered by Djibouti to the northwest, Kenya to the southwest, the Gulf of Aden with Yemen to the north, the Indian Ocean to the east, and Ethiopia to the west. It has the longest coastline on the continent, and its terrain consists mainly of plateaus, plains and highlands. Hot conditions prevail year-round, along with periodic monsoon winds and irregular rainfall.

Plot: Set in NYC, Carefree Somalia (Sylvie Marc-Charles) seemed pretty content with life: Got a good-looking boyfriend, Zavier (Omar Jaslin) for a musician, is in school to become a fashion designer, got her own place, is extrovert, likes to hit up the clubs just to feel the music, and has her own circle of friends who accepts her for who she is. A recurring complication soon becomes an issue between Somalia and her boyfriend that bifurcate their relationship. Her relationship with Zavier is put to the test when every personal experience becomes communal. DIRECTOR'S NOTE The film underscores the integration of the relationship between the hearing and the Deaf communities as well as other cultures. We believe in integration and interaction that places strong emphasis in addressing communication barriers and toppling them. There are issues we would like to address for the lack of representation, inappropriate exploitations, and negative stereotyping and ineffective exposure.

I don't know why I feel this way today
The sky is blue the table is laid
The trees are heavy with yellow fruit
And in their shade children happily play
The pears have fallen to the ground
My child places one in my hand
The sun is warm upon my face
And I dream of a burning land
Mother of famine take this pear
Upon an arrow through the rings of time
This small fruit this golden prayer
May it pass from this hand to thine
If I were rain I'd rain on somalia
If I were grain for somalia I'd grow
If I were bread I would rise for somalia
If I were a river for somalia I'd flow
All the mothers will dream of thee
All the mothers bless thy empty hand
All the mothers will grieve for thee
All the sorrow a mother can stand
If we were rain we would rain on somalia
If we were grain for somalia we'd grow
If we were bread we would rise for somalia
