John Diehl

John Diehl (born May 1, 1950) is an American actor.

Diehl was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1968.

Career

Diehl played Delbert McCoy in the 1993 film Remote, for which he may be best known. He also appeared in such films as Stargate, Stripes, Gettysburg, The Hi-Lo Country, Jurassic Park III, Nixon, A Time to Kill, Mo' Money, and Singularity Principle. He appeared on television in Miami Vice (as Larry Zito) and The Shield. Diehl later appeared in Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe, a made-for-TV movie based on the television series Burn Notice. In 2011, he appeared in Monte Hellman's romantic thriller Road to Nowhere.

John Diehl (politician)

John J. Diehl, Jr. (born August 28, 1965) is an American attorney and a Republican former member of the Missouri House of Representatives. He represented the 89th district, which includes Ballwin, Chesterfield, Country Life Acres, Crystal Lake Park, Des Peres, Frontenac, Huntleigh, Kirkwood, Ladue, Manchester, and Town and Country, from 2009 to 2015. Prior to redistricting he represented the 87th district from 2009-2012. Diehl was elected Speaker of the House in 2013 and took office in January 2015. Diehl resigned on May 14, 2015 after a scandal came to light regarding inappropriate messages exchanged with an intern.

Early life and political career

Diehl graduated from De Smet Jesuit High School in Creve Coeur in 1983. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1987 with a degree in political science. He received a law degree from St. Louis University in 1991. Diehl is married, has three sons, and attends Our Lady of the Pillar parish in Creve Coeur.

Diehl was named Town and Country and Frontenac Chamber of Commerce's 2006 businessman of the year and was on the Town and Country and Frontenac Chamber of Commerce executive committee from 2004-2007. He has been chairman of the St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners, chairman of the Town and Country Police Commission, chairman of Town and Country Conservation Commission, a member of the Town and Country Architectural Review Board, chairman of the Town and Country Longview House Renovation Committee, on the Governor's Advisory Council on DWI, Town and Country ombudsman to the West County EMS and Fire Protection District, and a member of the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers Election Center. He was also a member of the Town and Country Board of Aldermen from the first ward. He was in that position from 2003–2005 and he served as president of the board from 2004-2005.

Jesse Stone

Jesse Albert Stone (November 16, 1901 – April 1, 1999) was an American rhythm and blues musician and songwriter whose influence spanned a wide range of genres. He also used the pseudonyms Charles Calhoun and Chuck Calhoun.

Ahmet Ertegün once stated that "Jesse Stone did more to develop the basic rock 'n' roll sound than anybody else."

Biography

Origins and early career

Born in Atchison, Kansas, United States, Stone grew up in Kansas, where he was influenced by a wide array of styles. He came from a musical family who put on minstrel shows, and performed with a trained dog act at the age of 4. By 1926 he had formed a group, the Blue Serenaders, and cut his first record, "Starvation Blues", for Okeh Records in 1927. For the next few years he worked as a pianist and arranger in Kansas City, recording with Julia Lee among others, and then in the 1930s organised a larger orchestra.

New York in the 1930s and 1940s

Duke Ellington got Stone's orchestra booked at the Cotton Club in 1936, and Ellington put Stone up free of charge in his apartment for four months. Over the next few years Stone worked as a bandleader at the Apollo Theatre, and more widely in Harlem as a songwriter and arranger, with Chick Webb's band (which included Louis Jordan), Jimmie Lunceford, and many others. He made some recordings under his own name in the 1930s and 1940s.

Jesse Stone (Wisconsin politician)

Jesse Stone (August 23, 1836 – May 11, 1902) was an American politician in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. He served as the 18th Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin.

Early life

Stone was born in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England on August 23, 1836. As a young child he emigrated with his family to Waterford, New York in 1841. He attended the common schools and became a manufacturer in the firm of Woodward and Stone as well as a stockholder in several corporations including the Wisconsin Telephone Company.

Political careerr

Stone moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1855, and then to Watertown, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, on August l, 1869. A Republican member of the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1880 and 1882, Stone was also a member of the Watertown School Board. He was a delegate to the national convention in 1888 and 1892, and a member of the central committee from 1888 to 1894.

Stone sevrved as the 18th Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin, serving from January 2, 1899 until his death on May 11, 1902. He died in Watertown and is interred at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown.

Jesse Stone (character)

Jesse Stone is the lead character in a series of detective novels written by Robert B. Parker. They were among his last works, and the first series in which the novelist used the third-person narrative. The series consists of nine books, starting with Night Passage (1997) and ending with Split Image (2010), which Parker completed before his death in January 2010 but did not live to see published. The series was initially continued by Michael Brandman. In April 2014, Reed Farrel Coleman assumed the writing of the series. The novels have been adapted as nine TV films. The first eight films were commissioned by CBS, and aired from 2005 to 2012. A ninth film was picked up by the Hallmark Channel, and aired on October 18, 2015.

The character begins the series at about 35 years old. He is a former minor league baseball shortstop whose career was cut short by a shoulder injury. He was raised in Arizona and California. He was asked to resign from his job as a homicide detective for the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division because of a drinking problem that began after his divorce from his beautiful wife, Jennifer. Showing up drunk to an interview for a job as police chief for the small town of Paradise, Massachusetts (loosely based on the real town of Marblehead, Massachusetts), Stone is hired because the corrupt president of the town board of selectmen thinks he will be easy to control. Stone quickly notices that the town has big league crimes, struggling with the mob, white supremacists, wildly errant wives and a triple homicide, and that his job will be more difficult than he expected. But, he proves up to the task, beginning with making a corruption case against the town council president and arresting him.

Death in Paradise is a British-French lighthearted crime comedy drama television series created by Robert Thorogood, initially starring Ben Miller and Sara Martins and later starring Kris Marshall and Joséphine Jobert. Danny John-Jules also stars and has been present throughout the series. The programme is a joint UK and French production filmed on the Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and broadcast on BBC One in the United Kingdom and France 2 in France.

Death in Paradise was commissioned for a third series by Ben Stephenson in February 2013, after consistently high ratings during the second series, and it began airing on 14 January 2014. In February 2014, Death in Paradise was renewed for a fourth series, which began airing on 8 January 2015 on BBC One in the UK. The fifth series commenced on 7 January 2016.

Synopsis

British detective Richard Poole (Ben Miller) is assigned to investigate a murder on the fictional paradise island of Saint Marie in the Caribbean. After he successfully finds the murderer, he is reluctantly required by his supervisors to stay on as the detective inspector (DI) of the island, solving new cases as they appear. At the start of Series 3, Poole is killed, and maladroit London detective Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) arrives to investigate the death of his strait-laced predecessor. He then stays in the job as chief investigator on the island. The British detectives work alongside the local Saint Marie police team to track down murderers.
