Always keep counters and dice on you. You need these to indicate when your creatures gain +1+1 counters, or your planeswalkers change loyalty totals, or even as creature tokens. Don’t be that player who needs to put +1/+1 counters on their creature but has no way to indicate this.
#5 - Use bath beads. Bath beads are cheap, pretty, and usually available at your local 0.99 cent or equivalent store. For about $1.00 you can get all the counters you’ll ever need.
Use counters or dice for upkeep effects. Let’s say I have a Thassa in play…
Never attack without first saying, move to declare attackers. This makes it very clear to your opponent that this is their last chance to cast any pre-combat spells. If you move to declare attacks and they decline to cast any spells or effects, then they can’t make you go back to let them do so after they see what you are attacking with.

Keeping classic games in print is a surprisingly risky and difficult business. And while we can spend all day blaming technical hurdles, legal complications, and those darned software pirates for making these games so easy to download, the truth is that we've also done a pretty terrible job of maintaining our legacy. We've cheapened our games, to the point where anything older than a decade is assumed free. Magic: The Gathering (MTG; also known as Magic) is one of the first collectible trading card games, created by Richard Garfield and introduced in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast. Magic continues to thrive, with approximately twelve million players as of 2011[update].Magic can be played by two or more players each using a deck of printed cards or a deck of virtual cards through the Internet-based Magic: The Gathering Online or third-party programs.
Each game represents a battle between mighty wizards, known as "planeswalkers", who employ the magical spells, items, and fantastic creatures depicted on individual Magic cards to defeat their opponents. Although the original concept of the game drew heavily from the motifs of traditional fantasy role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons, the gameplay of Magic bears little similarity to pencil-and-paper adventure games, while having substantially more cards and more complex rules than many other card games.
An organized tournament system and a community of professional Magic players has developed, as has a secondary market for Magic cards. Magic cards can be valuable due to their rarity and utility in game play.

Always keep counters and dice on you. You need these to indicate when your creatures gain +1+1 counters, or your planeswalkers change loyalty totals, or even as creature tokens. Don’t be that player who needs to put +1/+1 counters on their creature but has no way to indicate this.
#5 - Use bath beads. Bath beads are cheap, pretty, and usually available at your local 0.99 cent or equivalent store. For about $1.00 you can get all the counters you’ll ever need.
Use counters or dice for upkeep effects. Let’s say I have a Thassa in play…
Never attack without first saying, move to declare attackers. This makes it very clear to your opponent that this is their last chance to cast any pre-combat spells. If you move to declare attacks and they decline to cast any spells or effects, then they can’t make you go back to let them do so after they see what you are attacking with.

Keeping classic games in print is a surprisingly risky and difficult business. And while we can spend all day blaming technical hurdles, legal complications, and those darned software pirates for making these games so easy to download, the truth is that we've also done a pretty terrible job of maintaining our legacy. We've cheapened our games, to the point where anything older than a decade is assumed free.
