Jaime Humberto Hermosillo
Jaime Humberto Hermosillo (born 22 January 1942) is a Mexican film director, often compared to Spain's Pedro Almodóvar.
Born in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, in center Mexico, Hermosillo's films often explore the hypocrisy of middle-class Mexican values.
He worked with Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez on "Mary My Dearest" in 1979 and "The Summer of Miss Forbes" in 1988. His 1991 film Homework was entered into the 17th Moscow International Film Festival where it won a Special Mention.
Hermosillo currently teaches film-making at the University of Guadalajara and has recently collaborated with his students on various projects.

Hermosillo
Hermosillo (Spanish pronunciation: [eɾmoˈsiÊŽo]), formerly called Pitic (as SantÃsima Trinidad del Pitic and Presidio del Pitic) is a city located centrally in the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora. It is the capital and largest city as well as the main economic center for the state and region. It contains almost all of the state's manufacturing and has seventy percent of its population. The major manufacturing sector is automobiles, which was begun in the 1980s, when Ford built the Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly Plant.
History
Evidence of the area's first inhabitants date back 3,000 years, much of which are from a site called the San Dieguito Complex, located in the El Pinacate Zone. Evidence of agriculture dates back 2,500 years. In the pre-Hispanic era, this area was inhabited by the Seri, Tepoca, and Pima peoples.
The first encounter between the Spanish and natives occurred in the middle of the 16th century, when explorers were sent here in search of gold, which did not exist. The first missionaries arrived in the state of Sonora around 1614, and Eusebio Francisco Kino arrived in 1687, founding a mission in nearby Cucurpe. What is now the states of Sonora and Sinaloa was loosely organized as the provinces of Sonora, Ostimura and Sinaloa.

Hermosillo Municipality
Hermosillo is a municipality in Sonora in north-western Mexico. The municipal seat is the city of Hermosillo.
As municipal seat, the city of Hermosillo is the local government of over 3,800 other localities, with a combined territory of 14,880.2 km2. Other important communities include Miguel Alemán, San Pedro el Saucito, BahÃa Kino, La Victoria and La Manga.
The municipality borders the municipalities of Carbó Municipality, San Miguel de Horcasitas Municipality, Ures Municipality, Mazatán Municipality, La Colorada Municipality, Guaymas Municipality and Pitiquito Municipality, with the Gulf of California to the southwest.
The municipality is mostly flat with sloping towards the sea. There are isolated mountain peaks that reach to only 300 meters above sea level and include Tepoaca, Bacoachito, Lopez, Tonuco, Seri, Batamote, Goguz, Bronces, SantaTeresa, La Palma, Siete Cerros and La Campana. These are located mostly in the eastern section of the municipality. The two most important rivers are the Rio Sonora and the Rio San Miguel. Both of these are used for irrigation purposes with the Abelardo L. Rodriguez dam located on the San Miguel River. The population increase of the municipality, currently at 2.5% annually puts pressure on the infrastructure of the city, especially its water supply. Decades of overpumping of ground water has led to the aquifer levels being lower than sea levels, and sea water creeping in as an "artificial recharge."

It is the capital, and largest city, as well as the main economic center for the state and the region. As of 2015, the city has a population of 812,229, making it the 16th largest city in Mexico. The recent increase in the city's population is due to expanded industrialization, especially in the automotive industry. Hermosillo is really hot! It’s one of the hottest cities in Mexico. It was 41c the day I was there (105F). If you’re thinking about being an expat in Mexico, moving to Mexico, or traveling Mexico, Hermosillo may look like an average city BUT there is a lot to see and it should definitely have a more deserving status when it comes to Mexico Tourism!
I was in Sonora for over a month, based in Ciudad Obregón. I’ve also filmed videos there, in Cócorit, Esperanza, San Carlos and Guaymas. Of course there are many other places of interest to visit such as Navojoa and Alamos, as well as places further north!

🇲🇽 HERMOSILLO, SONORA - Welcome to part number 18 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series! I’ve been in the northern Mexican state of Sonora for a number of weeks, visiting Ciudad Obregón, Cócorit, Esperanza, Guaymas and San Carlos, now arriving in the sweltering desert city of Hermosillo!
The previous video was a 4K walkaround in the central area; this time we go into more detail with some things to do in Hermosillo, such as seeing preparations for Fiesta del Pitic, we climb Cerro de la Campana (Bell Hill), eat some awesome comida mexicana (mexican food) such as DOGOS, Tacos de Pescado in the local market, and more, all in 42c (107F!) and with a pelvis injury!
Hermosillo is another city in northern Mexico which is lesser visited by foreigners, particularly expats, those looking to move to Mexico or those who prefer to visit colonial or beach locations such as Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende and Cancun. Some may ask the usual ‘is Mexico safe’ or ‘is Mexico dangerous’ questions, but it has a lot to offer!

🇲🇽 HERMOSILLO, SONORA - Welcome to Northern Mexico! This is part 17 of my 2022 Mexico series coming from the city of Hermosillo in Sonora! This video is the FIRST of TWO videos from Hermosillo - a 4K CITY WALKAROUND filmed in ONE CONTINUOUS SHOT in 30 MINUTES in the DOWNTOWN AREA ONLY - obviously I am unable to teleport to the other side of the city in this time. The next video is one of my regular travel videos featuring things to do in Hermosillo where we go up Cerro de la Campana, have DOGOS, and explore different areas in more detail! So don’t tell me I missed everything when many things will be in the next video! (I don’t know why this is always so difficult to comprehend LOL).
Hermosillo is really hot! It’s one of the hottest cities in Mexico. It was 41c the day I was there (105F). If you’re thinking about being an expat in Mexico, moving to Mexico, or traveling Mexico, Hermosillo may look like an average city BUT there is a lot to see and it should definitely have a more deserving status when it comes to Mexico Tourism!
I was in Sonora for over a month, based in Ciudad Obregón. I’ve also filmed videos there, in Cócorit, Esperanza, San Carlos and Guaymas. Of course there are many other places of interest to visit such as Navojoa and Alamos, as well as places further north!

Hermosillo , formerly called Pitic, is a city located in the center of the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora. It is the capital, and largest city, as well as the main economic center for the state and the region. As of 2015, the city has a population of 812,229, making it the 16th largest city in Mexico. The recent increase in the city's population is due to expanded industrialization, especially in the automotive industry. 🇲🇽 HERMOSILLO, SONORA - Welcome to part number 18 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series! I’ve been in the northern Mexican state of Sonora for a number of weeks, visiting Ciudad Obregón, Cócorit, Esperanza, Guaymas and San Carlos, now arriving in the sweltering desert city of Hermosillo!
The previous video was a 4K walkaround in the central area; this time we go into more detail with some things to do in Hermosillo, such as seeing preparations for Fiesta del Pitic, we climb Cerro de la Campana (Bell Hill), eat some awesome comida mexicana (mexican food) such as DOGOS, Tacos de Pescado in the local market, and more, all in 42c (107F!) and with a pelvis injury!
Hermosillo is another city in northern Mexico which is lesser visited by foreigners, particularly expats, those looking to move to Mexico or those who prefer to visit colonial or beach locations such as Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende and Cancun. Some may ask the usual ‘is Mexico safe’ or ‘is Mexico dangerous’ questions, but it has a lot to offer!

Jaime Humberto Hermosillo
Jaime Humberto Hermosillo (born 22 January 1942) is a Mexican film director, often compared to Spain's Pedro Almodóvar.
Born in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, in center Mexico, Hermosillo's films often explore the hypocrisy of middle-class Mexican values.
He worked with Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez on "Mary My Dearest" in 1979 and "The Summer of Miss Forbes" in 1988. His 1991 film Homework was entered into the 17th Moscow International Film Festival where it won a Special Mention.
Hermosillo currently teaches film-making at the University of Guadalajara and has recently collaborated with his students on various projects.
