Clifton Park is a suburban town in Saratoga County, New York, United States. According to the United States Census Bureau, the 2010 population was 36,705. The name is derived from an early land patent. The town is in the south part of the county and is located approximately 12 miles (19 km) north of Albany, 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Schenectady, and 10 miles (16 km) south of Saratoga Springs.
The first settlements in what is now Clifton Park were established in the 17th century. The town or area was named in 1707 by Nanning Harmansen. At that time Nanning Harmansen sent letters to Lord Cornbury requesting letters of Patent for Land he bought from the Native Americans known as Shenendehowa. He also stated in this correspondence that he wanted the patent to be known by "Your name of Cliftons Park", and the patent was named the Clifton Park Patent.
By 1723, the area had grown to twenty inhabitants, and was given the name of "Canastigione". The area along the Mohawk River was popular for ferries across the waterbed, with Eldert Vischer opening the crossing known as Vischer Ferry in 1783. To the northwest, Edward Rexford established Rexford Flats, a small community on the riverbank at the northern end of what became NY 146B.

Clifton Park Center, formerly known as the Clifton Country Mall, is a large retail center, located just off Interstate 87 Exit 9 in Clifton Park, New York. Acquired in the spring of 2006 by DCG Development, a Clifton Park based development firm, the mall features over 70 stores and a food court.
Clifton Country Mall opened in 1976 with JC Penney, The Carl Company and A&P as the mall's three anchor stores. In 1984, the mall was expanded, bringing in Caldor as a fourth anchor. This expansion also gave the mall a food court and movie theater. In 1979, A&P closed and its empty space was converted into a Price Chopper and a CVS, then into Steinbach in 1991. Also in 1991, The Carl Company closed and its empty space was converted into the mall's present day Marshalls Megastore/HomeGoods.
In 2000, the mall was given a new white marble exterior (replacing its original pink exterior) and its name was changed from Clifton Country Mall to Clifton Park Center. After Steinbach and Caldor closed in 1999, the mall was only left with two anchor stores. After Boscov's opened its first Capital District store at Colonie Center, Clifton Park town officials convinced Boscov's to open a second Capital District store at Clifton Park Center, rather than at Wilton Mall. The former Caldor was demolished and in its place, a two story Boscov's was constructed, which opened in November 2000, becoming the mall's third current anchor store.
A park is an area of natural, semi-natural, or planted space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation or for the protection of wildlife or natural habitats. It may consist of grassy areas, rocks, soil, and trees, but may also contain buildings and other artifacts such as monuments, fountains or playground structures. In North America, many parks have fields for playing sports such as soccer, baseball and football, and paved areas for games such as basketball. Many parks have trails for walking, biking and other activities. Some parks are built adjacent to bodies of water or watercourses, and these parks may comprise a beach or boat dock area. Often, the smallest parks are in urban areas, where a park may take up only a city block or less. Urban parks often have benches for sitting and they may contain picnic tables and barbecue grills. Parks have differing rules regarding whether dogs can be brought into the park: some parks prohibit dogs; some parks allow them with restrictions (e.g., use of a leash); and some parks, which may be called "dog parks," permit dogs to run off-leash.

I filmed a small section of this reservoir which is also called Colonie Reservoir while I was in New York visiting. It is illegal to trespass here but rumors have it that it holds the largest freshwater Bass in the Area. I had a little video issue in the beginning but cleared up. I never had time to check into it yet.
Video of some heavy rain that rolled through here a few weeks ago. This is a test of a new HD camera that was given to me.
