Irish band Kodaline look set to make a huge impact on this week's Official Albums Chart with their debut full-length, In A Perfect World.
After scoring two Number 1 singles in their homeland, and two Top 40 hits -- High Hopes and Love Likes This - on our very own Official Singles Chart, Kodaline look set to become one of Ireland's breakthrough acts of 2013. It's high time you were introduced!
The Dublin-based quartet - Steve Garrigan (vocals / guitar / keyboard), Mark Prendergast (guitar), Jason Boland (bass) and Vinny May (drums) -- released their debut album, In A Perfect World today (Monday, June 17) and it looks set to make a huge impact on this week's Official Albums Chart.
"We feel both anxious and excited that In A Perfect World is now out!" Steve tells OfficialCharts.com. "We finished it a long time ago and we've been waiting to put it out. We spent about seven weeks recording it in different studios - a week here, a week there - while we were on tour.
"We finished up in Rockfield in Wales, which is a really famous studio. A lot of big songs were recorded there like Bohemian Rhapsody and Wonderwall as well, so there was no pressure [laughs]."

Lucy Spraggan shot to fame last year after performing her self-penned track, Last Night, on hit reality TV singing contest the X Factor. The 21-year-old singer/songwriter not only impressed the judges with her original material, she also wowed the British public, too, and became the first contestant in the show's history to score a Top 40 single, AND album, before the live rounds had even aired!
After scoring a record deal with Columbia Records, Lucy looks set to return to the Official Singles Chart this week with her new single Lighthouse, which was released yesterday (Sunday, July 14).
"Lighthouse is about coming off a show like X Factor and going back to where the streets are paved with stone," joked Lucy. "Sometimes you just want to go home and sit on the sofa and have a cup of tea!"
Lucy reveals that lighthouses have always been a good omen for her, ever since she went travelling around the US when she was just 18. Indeed, she even has a massive tattoo of a lighthouse on her right arm!
"Whenever I'd run out of money or get on the wrong bus, I'd see a lighthouse and things would start getting better," she explains.
Lighthouse is taken from Lucy's forthcoming second album, which is due out in September. Just don't ask her what it's called though, that's a bit of a touchy subject...
"My new album is out in September, I don't know what it's called though," Lucy confesses. "I keep wanting to steal other people's album names 'cause they're better than the ones I've thought of!"

Rebecca Ferguson looks set to return to both the Official Singles Chart and the Official Albums Chart this Sunday with her new single Backtrack, and the deluxe edition of her debut album Heaven.
OfficialCharts.com caught up with Rebecca Ferguson earlier this week to get the low-down on Backtrack.
"I wrote Backtrack about someone who cheated on me," explains the singer. "But, I tried to put my own little spin on it and made it really upbeat. I recorded it with an amazing writer called Jonny Lattimer. It's a break-up song, but we put a positive spin on it so it's really fun, happy and something everyone can sing along to."
Rebecca also talks about the re-release of Heaven and reveals what it was like returning to X Factor over the weekend, and who she wants to win this year's show.

We caught up with Chart legend Bonnie Tyler to find out about her new album, Rocks And Honey, and what she's got in store for this year's Eurovision Song Contest!
Bonnie Tyler, who is set to represent the UK next weekend in the Eurovision Song Contest, released her sixteenth studio album Rocks And Honey earlier this week. To celebrate her first new material in nearly eight years (and the UK's first Eurovision win in nearly 16 years?! -- well, we can dream, can't we?) we invited the Welsh Chart legend round for a chat!
The album's lead single, Believe In Me, has been all over radio and TV since being announced as the UK's entry for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. But, according to Bonnie, it was never intended to a Eurovision song.
"While I was in Nashville recording Rocks And Honey, I met up with Desmond Child who I'd worked with many years ago," she explains. "So we went up for dinner at his house and he gave me some songs, and I really particularly loved Believe In Me and a track that's on the album called Stubborn. But he said 'But it isn't finished Bonnie!' So I said 'I love this song, I'd love to record it.' So he finished it at the dinner table, which as very, very unusual [laughs]. But that's Desmond Child for you!"
The first time Bonnie will perform any of her new album live will be at Eurovision, which is set to take place in Malmo, Sweden next Saturday (May 18).
"Please support me!" asks Bonnie. "You know you can't vote for your own country, so please vote for me if you're not from the UK! Facebook your foreign friends and say 'Will you support our Bonnie?'."
We also asked Bonnie about her mega-hit, Total Eclipse Of The Heart, which reached Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart 30 years ago this year.
"Total Eclipse Of The Heart was out like 30 years ago? But I'm only 39!" she laughs. "Thank god for Botox, that's what I always say!"

Tyler, who was a runner up on The Voice, also chats about what it was like being part of Will.I.Am's team on the inaugural series of BBC 1's new reality TV singing contest.

The Official Charts Company (OCC), previously called the Chart Information Network (CIN) and then The Official UK Charts Company, compiles various "official" UK record charts, including the UK Singles Chart, the UK Albums Chart, and the UK Official Download Chart, as well as genre-specific and music video charts.
The OCC produces its charts by gathering and combining sales data from retailers through market researchers Millward Brown. OCC claims to cover 99% of the singles market and 95% of the album market, and aims to collect data from any retailer who sells more than 100 chart items per week.
The OCC is operated jointly by the British Phonographic Industry and the Entertainment Retailers Association ERA (formerly the British Association of Record Dealers BARD). Since 1 July 1997, CIN and then OCC have compiled the official charts. Prior to this date, the charts were produced by a succession of market research companies, beginning with the British Market Research Bureau in 1969, and later by Gallup. Before the production of the "official" charts, various less comprehensive charts were produced, most notably by the NME, which began its chart in 1952; some of these older charts (including NME's earliest singles charts) are now part of the official OCC canon.

The Dublin-based quartet - Steve Garrigan (vocals / guitar / keyboard), Mark Prendergast (guitar), Jason Boland (bass) and Vinny May (drums) -- released their debut album, In A Perfect World today (Monday, June 17) and it looks set to make a huge impact on this week's Official Albums Chart.
"We feel both anxious and excited that In A Perfect World is now out!" Steve tells OfficialCharts.com. "We finished it a long time ago and we've been waiting to put it out. We spent about seven weeks recording it in different studios - a week here, a week there - while we were on tour.
"We finished up in Rockfield in Wales, which is a really famous studio. A lot of big songs were recorded there like Bohemian Rhapsody and Wonderwall as well, so there was no pressure [laughs]."

Lucy Spraggan shot to fame last year after performing her self-penned track, Last Night, on hit reality TV singing contest the X Factor. The 21-year-old singer/songwriter not only impressed the judges with her original material, she also wowed the British public, too, and became the first contestant in the show's history to score a Top 40 single, AND album, before the live rounds had even aired!
After scoring a record deal with Columbia Records, Lucy looks set to return to the Official Singles Chart this week with her new single Lighthouse, which was released yesterday (Sunday, July 14).
"Lighthouse is about coming off a show like X Factor and going back to where the streets are paved with stone," joked Lucy. "Sometimes you just want to go home and sit on the sofa and have a cup of tea!"
Lucy reveals that lighthouses have always been a good omen for her, ever since she went travelling around the US when she was just 18. Indeed, she even has a massive tattoo of a lighthouse on her right arm!
"Whenever I'd run out of money or get on the wrong bus, I'd see a lighthouse and things would start getting better," she explains.
Lighthouse is taken from Lucy's forthcoming second album, which is due out in September. Just don't ask her what it's called though, that's a bit of a touchy subject...
"My new album is out in September, I don't know what it's called though," Lucy confesses. "I keep wanting to steal other people's album names 'cause they're better than the ones I've thought of!"

Rebecca Ferguson looks set to return to both the Official Singles Chart and the Official Albums Chart this Sunday with her new single Backtrack, and the deluxe edition of her debut album Heaven.
OfficialCharts.com caught up with Rebecca Ferguson earlier this week to get the low-down on Backtrack.
"I wrote Backtrack about someone who cheated on me," explains the singer. "But, I tried to put my own little spin on it and made it really upbeat. I recorded it with an amazing writer called Jonny Lattimer. It's a break-up song, but we put a positive spin on it so it's really fun, happy and something everyone can sing along to."
Rebecca also talks about the re-release of Heaven and reveals what it was like returning to X Factor over the weekend, and who she wants to win this year's show.

We caught up with Chart legend Bonnie Tyler to find out about her new album, Rocks And Honey, and what she's got in store for this year's Eurovision Song Contest!
Bonnie Tyler, who is set to represent the UK next weekend in the Eurovision Song Contest, released her sixteenth studio album Rocks And Honey earlier this week. To celebrate her first new material in nearly eight years (and the UK's first Eurovision win in nearly 16 years?! -- well, we can dream, can't we?) we invited the Welsh Chart legend round for a chat!
The album's lead single, Believe In Me, has been all over radio and TV since being announced as the UK's entry for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. But, according to Bonnie, it was never intended to a Eurovision song.
"While I was in Nashville recording Rocks And Honey, I met up with Desmond Child who I'd worked with many years ago," she explains. "So we went up for dinner at his house and he gave me some songs, and I really particularly loved Believe In Me and a track that's on the album called Stubborn. But he said 'But it isn't finished Bonnie!' So I said 'I love this song, I'd love to record it.' So he finished it at the dinner table, which as very, very unusual [laughs]. But that's Desmond Child for you!"
The first time Bonnie will perform any of her new album live will be at Eurovision, which is set to take place in Malmo, Sweden next Saturday (May 18).
"Please support me!" asks Bonnie. "You know you can't vote for your own country, so please vote for me if you're not from the UK! Facebook your foreign friends and say 'Will you support our Bonnie?'."
We also asked Bonnie about her mega-hit, Total Eclipse Of The Heart, which reached Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart 30 years ago this year.
"Total Eclipse Of The Heart was out like 30 years ago? But I'm only 39!" she laughs. "Thank god for Botox, that's what I always say!"
