Healthy Moong Chaat
An appetizing mix of sprouts, onions and tomatoes topped with cooling dahi. Loaded with lots of nutrients like iron, fibre, vitamin a and C…made in a jiffy yet full of health…serve it to your loved ones…you can also enjoy sprouted moong mixture just the way it is…
Preparation Time: 10 minutes.
Cooking Time: 7 minutes.
Serves 2.
1 cup sprouted moong (whole green gram)
1 tsp oil
¼ tsp mustard seeds (rai / sarson)
¼ tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
A few curry leaves (kadi patta)
¼ cup finely chopped onions
1 tsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
½ tsp chilli powder
A pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
½ tsp coriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
¼ cup chopped tomatoes
Salt to taste
For serving
4 tbsp fresh whisked curds (dahi)
Salt to taste
2 tbsp finely chopped onions
2 tbsp chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
2 pinches of chilli powder
1. Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan and add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
2. When the seeds crackle, add the curry leaves and onions and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
3. Add the ginger-garlic paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder, tomatoes, sprouted moong, ¼ cup of water and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes or till the moong is partially cooked, while stirring occasionally.
4. Remove from the flame and allow it to cool slightly. Divide the sprouted mixture into two equal portions.
5. Place one portion of the sprouted mixture in a bowl, pour 2 tbsp of fresh curds, sprinkle little salt, 1 tbsp of onions, 1 tbsp of tomatoes, 1 tbsp coriander and a pinch of chilli powder.
6. Repeat step 6 to make 1 more serving.
Serve immediately.
