Los Angeles (i/lɒs ˈændʒəlᵻs/ loss AN-jə-ləs or loss AN-jə-liss) (Spanish for "The Angels"), officially the City of Los Angeles and often known by its initials L.A., is the second-largest city in the United States after New York City, the most populous city in the state of California, and the county seat of Los Angeles County.
Situated in Southern California, Los Angeles is known for its mediterranean climate, ethnic diversity, sprawling metropolis, and as a major center of the American entertainment industry. Los Angeles lies in a large coastal basin surrounded on three sides by mountains reaching up to and over 10,000 feet (3,000 m).
Historically home to the Chumash and Tongva, Los Angeles was claimed by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo for Spain in 1542 along with the rest of what would become Alta California. The city was officially founded on September 4, 1781, by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. It became a part of Mexico in 1821 following the Mexican War of Independence. In 1848, at the end of the Mexican–American War, Los Angeles and the rest of California were purchased as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, thereby becoming part of the United States. Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality on April 4, 1850, five months before California achieved statehood. The city experienced rapid growth with the discovery of oil.

Krista Allen (born April 5, 1971) is an American model and actress. She is best known for her work in the television series, Days of Our Lives, and Baywatch Hawaii, and in the Hollywood films Liar Liar, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Anger Management, and The Final Destination. She also portrays the eponymous character on The CW series Significant Mother, and starred in the erotic movie series Emmanuelle in Space.
Krista Allen was born in Ventura, California. Allen has an older brother, Dalton Earl Allen, Jr. She grew up in Houston and later lived in Austin, Texas, going to school at Austin Community College and majoring in education. Krista transferred to, and graduated from, the University of Texas with an education degree. She considered teaching as a profession, interning as a kindergarten teacher, but decided to move back to California and pursue an acting career. Allen also is a certified yoga instructor.
She appeared on the television shows Days of Our Lives in the role of Billie Reed from 1996–2000, and Baywatch Hawaii as Jenna Avid (2000-2001).
Jill-Michele Meleán, “Jilly” was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She declared at a young age that she wanted to be like Betty Davis, Joan Crawford and Benny Hill. Jilly started in Theatre and toured with The Coconut Grove Playhouse (which is the Broadway of Miami). In 2000, she moved to Los Angeles and needed to be on stage. She took her natural comedic timing to the Standup Stage, headlining across the country while continuing her Acting career. After many years of hard work, she’s made a name for herself in the Comedy Television world with memorable performances on FOX’s “MadTV” and Comedy Central’s “Reno 911”. However, her first love is her dramatic acting career. As she continues her theatrical Film and Television career, she’ll never stop making people laugh.
Arnold Buddy Grishaver, better known as Buddy Arnold (April 30, 1926, The Bronx – November 9, 2003, Los Angeles), was an American jazz saxophonist.
Arnold played in Joe Marsala's and Georgie Auld's bands in the 1940s before serving in the Army from 1944 to 1946. Following this he played with Herbie Fields, Buddy Rich, George Williams, and Claude Thornhill in the late 1940s before leaving active performance to study music and economics at Columbia University. In 1951 he began playing regularly again, touring with Buddy DeFranco, then worked with Jerry Wald, Tex Beneke, Elliot Lawrence, Stan Kenton, and Neal Hefti. His debut release as a leader, Wailing, was issued on Paramount Records in 1956; he did further work for the label with Phil Sunkel.
Arnold's career was sporadic after the mid-1950s, due in no small part to continuing problems with drug addiction. In 1958, Arnold was imprisoned for attempted burglary, but returned in 1960 after his sentence ended to play with Kenton and Tommy Dorsey.

Things you need to know before you travel to Los Angeles California. LA is HUGE. You won't be able to see all of LA, unless you're staying for a very very long time. Los Angeles doesn't have a "center" and Downtown LA is not very exciting. LA is comprised of multiple cities Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Malibu. Get a rental car - You'll need it to see most tourist attractions in Los Angeles. 2. Traffic - LA has traffic everywhere, all the time. All day, every day. Yes, even at 1am on a weekend. Deal with it. - The freeways have names -- it's not I-405 -- it's "THE 405" 3. Public Transit - LA has a subway! - But it probably doesn't go where you want! Especially the beach! 4. Parking - Is often Valet - and Costs money everywhere - Except when you're parking on the freeway :) - P...

Learn the best ways to get around the popular Southern California city in this travel video. Tip: The city can be confusing, so a GPS is a must for the directionally-impaired. Los Angeles is a BIG city and it can be a bit challenging to get around. Car rentals are relatively inexpensive, which is lucky, because driving is the best option. Rent through the airport and reserve far ahead of time during tourist season. Navigation and traffic in LA aren’t easy, so it’s a very good idea to spend the extra money on GPS.
