Olivier Venturini’s bio Born on June 9th 1963, in Marseille, France. He started to build a show-reel directing a short-film for a Fashion Institute in his hometown, Marseille, another one with fellow artist Philippe Parreno and a couple of music videos, mostly shot with his own Super 8 camera. He got some attention with this and signed with his first proper film production in Paris where he directed a Renault 19 and a Boursin that stayed long on the reel. Things really got started when he landed a campaign in the US for Westin Hotels that was way above his league at the time. Lots of excitement! He moved over there the following year having been told and thinking he would have more opportunities than in France. He worked there for AT&T;, American Express, and Seiko… Then Propaganda offered him a sweet deal and he made the mistake to go from a company where he was cherished and looked after to an impersonal factory where he got little attention. Soon his family and him were longing for a more European lifestyle and when Jo Godman started to get him work in London, it didn’t take long before they decided to move over. Also in the States he didn’t see the end of the “vignette” commercials he was offered and he always wanted to do more story telling work. He did a Wallis campaign for BBH London “Dressed to kill” with almost no money and that was nominated at the AD&D.; He directed for Publicis London a worldwide campaign for Renault Megane, shot for Leagas-Delaney several Adidas commercials, a Patek Philippe and a BBC indent. He did a Playstation, a Scottish Power, a Rover and got an award for a William Lawson campaign “Hakka”. At the same time he started to make deals with various production companies across Europe to get more work. That also took him away from the market he wanted to crack most: England. His first commercial for Film Master in Italy was for TELIT: a new angle on Shakespeare’s Othello and that was quite succesful. It was more character oriented, more story telling than anything he had done in the past; it almost felt like doing a trailer for a movie and he still likes the film of today. His collaboration with them has been quite successful with a number of campaigns for Fiat, one award winning spot for Audi, a film starring Schumacher and Barrichello, a BMW, Renault… He also directed a number of international or national campaigns across Europe: Cartier, Alfa Romeo, Seat, Suzuki, Dimple, France Telecom… and a series of Coca-Cola for Tempomedia in Germany, which won in 2001 an award at the German Art Directors Club and a Bronze at the German Klappe. This marked his debut with German production company Tempomedia. His spot for Nur Die “The Look of Love” won him in 2000 a Bronze at the New York festival and a Bronze at the German Art Directors Club 2001. He ended up doing a lot of work for them: IKEA, Vodafone, a number of Opel, Fuji, a BMW (with Montoya and Berger), Nivea, Schwarzkopf… They have helped him produce and finance his short film “In the Bathroom”. All in all, Olivier likes to keep his films simple with a good story, the best characters he can find (always hard in commercials) and a less is more approach on their acting. He likes nothing more than the challenge of telling a story in a short time with fewer shots. 
What he likes best is either doing moving stories or cynical comedies. Apart from that, he is a happy family man married with Laetitia who gave me two sons, Jules and Lucas and a little princess, Lila. They are of course his best achievement so far.
