Warwick (
i/ˈwɒrɨk/ WORR-ik) is the county town of Warwickshire, England. The town lies upon the River Avon, 11 miles (18 km) south of Coventry and just west of Leamington Spa and Whitnash with which it is conjoined. As of the 2001 United Kingdom census, it had a population of 23,350.
There has been human activity at Warwick as early as the Neolithic, and constant habitation since the 6th century. A Saxon burh was created at Warwick in the 9th century and Warwick Castle was established on the site in 1068 as part of the Norman conquest of England. Warwick School claims to be the oldest boys' school in the country. The earldom of Warwick was created in 1088 and the earls controlled the town in the medieval period. During this time Warwick was given town walls; Eastgate and Westgate survive. The castle developed into a stone fortress and then a country house and is today a popular tourist attraction.
The Great Fire of Warwick in 1694 destroyed much of the medieval town and as a result most of the buildings post-date this period. Though Warwick did not become industrialised in the 19th century, it has experienced growth since 1801 when the population was 5,592. Racing Club Warwick F.C., founded in 1919, are based in the town. The town is administered by Warwick District Counil and Warwickshire County Council has its headquarters in Warwick.

Delia Mae "Dee Dee" Warwick (September 25, 1942 – October 18, 2008) was an American soul singer. Born in Newark, New Jersey, she was the sister of Dionne Warwick, niece of Cissy Houston and cousin of Whitney Houston.
Warwick was born in East Orange, New Jersey, to Mancel Warwick (1911–1977), who began his career as a Pullman porter and subsequently became a chef, a gospel record promoter for Chess Records and later a Certified Public Accountant; and Lee Drinkard Warwick (1920–2005), manager of The Drinkard Singers. Warwick had one sister, Dionne Warwick, and a brother, Mancel Jr., who was killed in an accident in 1968 at the age of 21.[citation needed]. She was of African American, Native American, Brazilian and Dutch descent.
Dee Dee Warwick sang with her sister Dionne Warwick and their aunt Cissy Houston in the New Hope Baptist Church Choir in Newark, New Jersey: eventually the three women formed the gospel trio the Gospelaires, who often performed with the Drinkard Singers, Houston being a member of both groups.

York, England walking tour with Warwick Burton
We had the privilege and honor of taking a walk through the little alleys of York, England with a truly great tour guide, Warwick Burton of YORKWALK. His native knowledge and sense of humor made this an wonderful experience. We walked through tiny lanes that most visitors would miss, but this became the highlight of the city for us. Thank you Warwick. After strolling through countless little lanes, we have a look at the Shambles in the narrow, quaint shopping lane becomes crowded during the day but was nearly empty when we walked through in late afternoon. We had the privilege and honor of taking a walk through the little alleys of York, England with a truly great tour guide, Warwick Burton of YORKWALK. His native knowledge and sense of humor made this an wonderful experience. We walked through tiny lanes that most visitors would miss, but this became the highlight of the city for us. Thank you Warwick.
After strolling through countless little lanes, we have a look at the Shambles in the narrow, quaint shopping lane becomes crowded during the day but was nearly empty when we walked through in late afternoon. The Shambles is so narrow they say it's possible for neighbors to reach out across the street from their second-story homes and shake hands. You'll probably come back to it several times as you wander through the town, but you will find the best time to enjoy the Shambles and get an uncluttered photo is early morning or evening, when the shops are closed and the crowd is absent.
Warwick will be greatly missed by his many friends and former travellers, but the company he founded 25 years ago, YORKWALKS, will continue providing a rich variety of walking and coach tours in York and the surroundings.

Warwick Castle (pronounced /ˈwɒrɪk/ WORR-ik, like warren En-warwick.ogg listen (help·info)) is a medieval castle in Warwick, the county town of Warwickshire, England. It sits on a cliff overlooking a bend in the River Avon. Warwick Castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1068 within or adjacent to Anglo-Saxon burh of Warwick. It was used as a fortification until the early 17th century, when Sir Fulke Greville converted it to a country house. It was owned by the Greville family, who became earls of Warwick in 1759, until 1978.
From 1088, the castle traditionally belonged to the Earl of Warwick, and it served as a symbol of his power. The castle was taken in 1153 by Henry of Anjou, later Henry II. It has been used to hold prisoners, including some from the Battle of Poitiers in the 14th century. Under the ownership of Richard Neville also known as "Warwick the Kingmaker" Warwick Castle was used in the 15th century to imprison the English king, Edward IV. Warwick Castle has been compared with Windsor Castle in terms of scale, cost, and status.
Since its construction in the 11th century, the castle has undergone structural changes with additions of towers and redesigned residential buildings. Originally a wooden motte-and-bailey, it was rebuilt in stone in the 12th century. During the Hundred Years War, the facade opposite the town was refortified, resulting in one of the most recognisable examples of 14th century military architecture.
