Positions discussed in this episode:
1st Assistant Director: The person in charge of creating the schedule, running the set and keeping a certain pace during shooting. As the director's right hand, the 1st AD operates as the conduit between the crew and the director.
2nd Assistant Director: The person responsible for organizing work for the next day by way of the call sheet, doing departmental paperwork and production reports. S/he may also set background extras.
3rd Assistant Director: The person who oversees the performers' on-set, accompanying them to the set when ready.

The role of an Assistant director include tracking daily progress against the filming production schedule, arranging logistics, preparing daily call sheets, checking cast and crew, maintaining order on the set. They also have to take care of health and safety of the crew. Historically the role of an assistant to the director (not the same as an Assistant director) was a stepping stone to directing work; Alfred Hitchcock was an AD, as was James McTeigue. This transition into film directing is no longer common in feature films, but remains an avenue for television work, particularly in Australia and Britain. It is more common now for ADs to transition to production management and producer roles than to directing.
An "assistant director" can also take on many different roles. Responsibilities of an assistant director in theatre may include taking notes to actually staging parts of the play. Many aspiring theatre directors begin their careers assistant directing, although the responsibilities in theatre are usually completely different to the requirements of filmmaking and should not be confused.

Sam's professional life takes a major turn when he is made executive of the Nurdlinger Dairy account. Simon Nurdlinger is a wholesome family man who wants a wholesome family man with wholesome family ideals heading his account, Sam the only one in Burke & Hare that fits the bill. Sam's home life also takes a major turn when Min's college friend, Janet Lagerlof, moves in next door. Janet stands to inherit $15 million from her grandfather's estate, but the will has a clause that she must be happily married to inherit the money. Janet is technically divorced from Howard Ebbets, and states that getting back with Howard is not worth $15 million. But when Jack Bailey and Irene Krump - two of Janet's relatives who would like to find any excuse to contest the will - come by for an unexpected visit, Janet impetuously introduces Sam as her husband, Howard. Things get more complicated for Sam when he is later forced to introduce Janet as Mrs. Bissel to both Burke and Nurdlinger. Sam and by association Min go along with the ruse, and for their troubles Janet offers to give them $1 million of her inheritance. After that, further complications occur: Janet notices a private investigator snooping around the neighborhood, the P.I. hired by Janet's relatives; Howard, Janet's ex-husband comes back wanting to reconcile with her; and without Sam's knowledge, the Nurdlinger creative includes billboards featuring a wholesome couple espousing the goodness of Nurdlinger milk, that wholesome couple being Sam and Janet as Mr. & Mrs. Sam Bissel. They just have to continue dealing with these complications until the legal hearing. But Min may just have had enough of this plan before they get the money.

The (AD) Assistant Director helps the director communicate with the cast and crew to accomplish everything that needs to be done on schedule. The AD department is essentially on-set management
Positions discussed in this episode:
1st Assistant Director: The person in charge of creating the schedule, running the set and keeping a certain pace during shooting. As the director's right hand, the 1st AD operates as the conduit between the crew and the director.
2nd Assistant Director: The person responsible for organizing work for the next day by way of the call sheet, doing departmental paperwork and production reports. S/he may also set background extras.
