My personal 5 guidelines are as follows...
1.Watch size and wearing the right size for your own scale and not somebody else's.
2.Strap options and how to match colors, types of pattern/styles to your watch, regardless of whether the band is leather, rubber or nato.
3.Making sure your watch is fitting to your attire as well as its function.
4.Age and socioeconomic appropriateness when buying and wearing a time piece.
5.Why watch snobbery is bad form, limiting to one's enjoyment of horology and why you should be more open minded.

"Buy the ticket, take the ride." Taking a close look at my fairly affordable (most watches are sub $1000, cheap by watch collector standards) watch collection as of spring 2016. The advantage of a bigger collection of course is variety so there are pieces from a number of areas of the watch market: Swiss, German, Japanese, microbrands, vintage, modern, automatic, mecahnical, quartz, tool watches, dress watches, pilots, divers, chronos, conservative, and wild-- they're all here! It's about as big as it's ever been, so I though I should document it while it's still here (generally I'm happy with 3-5 watches). I'm enjoying them and am happy to share them with you today. Let me know your favorites and the ones you want to see a review for down below! I will do a follow up video on my grails and goners so stay tuned!

Watch
A watch is a small timepiece intended to be carried or worn by a person. It is designed to keep working despite the motions caused by the person's activities. A wristwatch is designed to be worn on a wrist, attached by a watch strap or other type of bracelet. A pocket watch is designed for a person to carry in a pocket.
Watches evolved in the 17th century from spring-powered clocks, which appeared as early as the 14th century. The first watches were strictly mechanical, driven by clockwork. As technology progressed, mechanical devices, used to control the speed of the watch, were largely superseded by vibrating quartz crystals that produce accurately timed electronic pulses. Some watches use radio clock technology to regularly correct the time. The first digital electronic watch was developed in 1970.
Most inexpensive and medium-priced watches, used mainly for timekeeping, are electronic watches with quartz movements. Expensive collectible watches, valued more for their elaborate craftsmanship, aesthetic appeal and glamorous design than for simple timekeeping, often have purely mechanical movements and are powered by springs, even though these movements are generally less accurate and more expensive than electronic ones. Various extra features, called "complications", such as moon-phase displays and the different types of tourbillon, are sometimes included. Modern watches often display the day, date, month and year, and electronic watches may have many other functions. Time-related features such as timers, chronographs and alarm functions are common. Some modern designs incorporate calculators, GPS and Bluetooth technology or have heart-rate monitoring capabilities. Watches incorporating GPS receivers use them not only to determine their position. They also receive and use time signals from the satellites, which make them essentially perfectly accurate timekeepers, even over long periods of time.

"Buy the ticket, take the ride." Taking a close look at my fairly affordable (most watches are sub $1000, cheap by watch collector standards) watch collection as of spring 2016. The advantage of a bigger collection of course is variety so there are pieces from a number of areas of the watch market: Swiss, German, Japanese, microbrands, vintage, modern, automatic, mecahnical, quartz, tool watches, dress watches, pilots, divers, chronos, conservative, and wild-- they're all here! It's about as big as it's ever been, so I though I should document it while it's still here (generally I'm happy with 3-5 watches). I'm enjoying them and am happy to share them with you today. In a new research, this health tracker was about 90% correct at measuring coronary heart rate
Some health trackers are much more correct than others, finds a brand new research printed in JAMA Cardiology.
Researchers at Cleveland Clinic needed to check how properly 4 well-liked wearable gadgets measured coronary heart rate, which is concerned in a method that calculate what number of energy an individual is burning whereas they train. How I replace a broken mainspring, Elgin wrist watch, Part 2 of 2
Thanks to Nelson for the contribution to the cause. I have the new mainspring and will now install it. I had difficulties because the watch is old and the mainspring is new Swiss made with a smaller inner coil diameter than the old spring. After I shoot this video I took the balance off and cleaned and oiled the pivots because I did not like the motion of the balance. Watch has since been returned to Nelson and he says it runs great. Elgin National Watch Co. size 0, 7 jewel, hunter case pocket watch in a wrist watch case. See http://youtu.be/nzZCbiz-0dc for part 1 where I determine that the mainspring is broken. The Sinn 104 St Sa I Wristwatch: The Full Review
The Sinn 104 St Sa I is a great little mechanical timepiece, reviewed here on the H-Link Sinn Bracelet. It's got Day and Date complications, and a deeply legible face. It's also a beautiful object, with a great case and bracelet, and with fit-and-finish in line with watches twice the price. So, it's clearly a gem. Unfortunately, it's also pretty pricy, and you get the reduced accuracy and increased fragility of a mechanical movement. So, although it's a gem of a mechanical watch, unless you're in love with spinning wheels and rotors and gears, this may not be the best functional timepiece for you. I know I pronounced Invicta wrong. I also did a video of me assembling this watch. Miyota automatic 21 jewel 8N24 skeleton movement, Japan. Invicta S1 Rally Model No. 0868, All Stainless Steel, Flame Fusion Crystal TM, Automatic, Water Resistant 100 MT. Bought this non running water damaged watch at a yard sale for $30 USD because I thought I could fix it. In the first part of this video I show the watch and take it out of the case. Thanks to Nelson for the contribution to the cause. I have the new mainspring and will now install it. I had difficulties because the watch is old and the mainspring is new Swiss made with a smaller inner coil diameter than the old spring. After I shoot this video I took the balance off and cleaned and oiled the pivots because I did not like the motion of the balance. Watch has since been returned to Nelson and he says it runs great. Elgin National Watch Co. size 0, 7 jewel, hunter case pocket watch in a wrist watch case.

The Sinn 104 St Sa I is a great little mechanical timepiece, reviewed here on the H-Link Sinn Bracelet. It's got Day and Date complications, and a deeply legible face. It's also a beautiful object, with a great case and bracelet, and with fit-and-finish in line with watches twice the price. So, it's clearly a gem.
Unfortunately, it's also pretty pricy, and you get the reduced accuracy and increased fragility of a mechanical movement. So, although it's a gem of a mechanical watch, unless you're in love with spinning wheels and rotors and gears, this may not be the best functional timepiece for you.

I know I pronounced Invicta wrong. I also did a video of me assembling this watch. Miyota automatic 21 jewel 8N24 skeleton movement, Japan. Invicta S1 Rally Model No. 0868, All Stainless Steel, Flame Fusion Crystal TM, Automatic, Water Resistant 100 MT. Bought this non running water damaged watch at a yard sale for $30 USD because I thought I could fix it. In the first part of this video I show the watch and take it out of the case. I was going to do a quick clean but when I examined the watch I saw the corrosion and decided it had to come apart. I had already taken the hands off when I decided to do a take apart video. Not much rust but alot of white corrosion and what looks like lubricant mixed with water (black stuff).
