Lauryn Hill finally returns for Munhall concert Wednesday
May 7, 2016 12:00 AMWith very short notice, Lauryn Hill will play her first Pittsburgh show in 17 years at Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall in Munhall at 8 p.m. May 11.
Tickets range from $55 to $100 and are on sale now at sale now at Ticketfly.com, Librarymusichall.com or by calling 1-877-4-FLY-TIX.
The soulful singer/rapper from New Jersey is beloved for her work with hip-hop superstars The Fugees and on her five-time Grammy-winning 1998 album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill." Since then, she has only released her MTV Unplugged and a few sporadic singles, and she has rarely toured.
She performed at the Star Lake Amphitheater in 1999 to great reviews and a turnout of under 5,500. This long-awaited return is announced with six days notice but should have no trouble selling out.
The few recent shows she's done have featured a mix of new and old solo songs, Fugees faves and a sprinkling of Bob Marley covers.
Promoter Brian Drusky said Friday, "The agent just hit me up yesterday about it and asked if I wanted to do it. Worked really quick through it, and today it's on sale." He said the only other show that he's done with this short of a lead time was Dave Chappelle 18 months ago.
