Q: What breed are the puppies?
A: Japanese Akita. Not the same thing as an American Akita, though people mistakenly use the wrong terms all the time.
Q: Are these dogs rescues?
A: No. They are purebred Japanese Akitas. Both parents come from Japan, and this breeding is part of our preservation efforts for this endangered breed.
Q: Why do they sleep so much?
A: They're still babies and they need to sleep a lot. Even when they get older, like most dogs they will nap frequently.
Q: Why do they ...?
A: Because they're puppies.
Q: Why don't they ...? Why isn't there ...?
A: Because they're too little.
Q: When did the stream start?
A: July 3rd, about 2 hours after the puppies were born. However, technical difficulties required starting a new stream on July 31st.
Q: How long will this stream go on?
A: Until the puppies are 12 weeks old, some time around September 25th or a little before.
Q: Are the puppies for adoption?
A: No, they have homes already waiting for them.
Q: What is the point of this live stream?
A: So the future owners can watch their puppies grow up, and so that we (the breeders) can monitor them when we're not in the same room.
Q: Where are the puppies?
A: In a private residence in Lakewood, California. They have en entire bedroom setup that encompasses the whelping box, potty grass, playpen, and momma's area to relax and take a break. They will also have a private yard when they're older.
Q: Will we see when the pups are in the playpen or yard?
A: Yes, the camera will be moved to those locations.
Q: Why aren't all six puppies on screen?
A: There are some areas the camera can't see just below it. We might add second camera for PNP to address this issue after the puppies move to the playpen.
Q: What is the green stuff off camera?
A: That is the potty grass, the puppies' toilet area. They're still learning to use it, of course, and in the meantime they sometimes sleep there.
Q: Will you add a camera pointed at the grass area?
A: No, we will not point a camera at the potty grass. Period. END OF DISCUSSION. Toilet fetish is disgusting, so just stop.
Q: Where is the mom?
A: She is almost always lying on the floor just outside the grass keeping an eye on her pups. Sometimes she may be outside to go to the bathroom herself, or eating dinner or having some "me time" with her humans.
Q: Why isn't momma in with the puppies?
A: She comes and goes as she pleases, and is a good and attentive mother. She will be in with the pups at meal times or whenever else they need her. As they become more independent, she will come in to nurse them less but play with them more.
Q: Who is that human in with the puppies?
A: The lady with red and green hair is "Mrs. Kaiju" and the balding man is her husband "Mr. Kaiju." The older lady with graying hair is Mrs. Kaiju's mom, Grandma Kaiju. Anyone else is a friend of the family or future puppy owner.
Q: The puppies sometimes "nurse" on each others' privates, is this normal?
A: Yes. Some pups have a very strong instinct to suckle and it gives them comfort, like a kid sucking his thumb. They'll grow out of it.
Q: Can we see the father on the stream?
A: No. Other adult dogs are not allowed in the whelping room because they don't help with raising puppies and could stress momma.

The mother's name is Godzuki. The father's name is King Ghidora. We own both parents. The puppies' color is called brindle or tora (tiger). They were born around noon on July 3rd. Although they appear almost black now, the puppies will have coloration like their mom when they grow up.
The parents are purebred Japanese Akitas from Japan. They are not American Akitas or mixed with American Akita. They have health clearances for hips and eyes through OFA and an independent thyroid panel. We show our dogs in AKIHO, NIPPO, and UKC. We also do nose work, lure coursing, and barn hunt. We are members of AKIHO and the Japanese Akita Club of America (JACA) and work tirelessly to preserve and protect the breed. We occasionally foster dogs for rescue and often give financial assistance to Akita rescues through JACA Cares or directly.
The puppies are NOT AVAILABLE. We have a long waiting list and lots of great homes to choose from before we even begin planning a litter. Our screening process is very selective. All pups come with health warranties, microchip, spay/neuter if sold as a pet, and our promise to be on call 24/7 for anything the owner may need. We support our extended Kaiju Family for the lifetime of the dog. We will also accept back any pup we bred at any time for any reason.

For those who are interested, here's a full description of the breed: A wonderful family dog - playful, loyal, affectionate and, once trained, extremely well-behaved in the house. Very good guard dog, good with children and people in general (as long as you are not in the process of breaking in, in which case you're on your own), a dog you will love with all your heart and have that love returned with interest. Important to note that Akitas are a very dominant and wilful breed and are not easy to train, so should not be taken on without full research and consideration of what is required. Strong hunting instincts and the need to dominate other dogs should be allowed for when out walking (Basically, they would make good Sumo wrestlers.) Give them plenty of love, train them properly and allow for their natural instincts and you will never regret the day you decided to adopt one.

Akita (dog)
The Akita (秋田犬, Akita-inu) is a large breed of dog originating from the mountainous northern regions of Japan. There are two separate varieties of Akita: a Japanese strain, commonly called "Akita Ken" in Japan, "Akita Inu" ("inu" means "dog" in Japanese), "Japanese Akita"; and an American strain, known as the "Akita" or "American Akita". The Japanese strain comes in a narrow palette of colors, with all other colors considered atypical of the breed, while the American strain comes in all dog colors. The Akita has a short double coat, similar to that of many other northern spitz breeds such as the Siberian Husky, but long coated dogs can be found in many litters due to a recessive gene.
The Akita is a powerful, independent and dominant breed, commonly aloof with strangers but affectionate with family members. As a breed, Akitas are generally hardy, but they have been known to suffer from various genetic conditions and be sensitive to certain drugs.
In most countries, the American strain of Akita is now considered a separate breed. In the United States and Canada, however, the two strains are considered a single breed with differences in type. For a while, the American strain of Akita was known in some countries as the "Great Japanese Dog". Both forms of Akita are probably best known worldwide from the true story of Hachikō, a loyal Akita who lived in Japan before World War II.

Dog
The domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris or Canis familiaris) is a domesticated canid which has been selectively bred for millennia for various behaviors, sensory capabilities, and physical attributes.
Although initially thought to have originated as a manmade variant of an extant canid species (variously supposed as being the dhole,golden jackal, or gray wolf), extensive genetic studies undertaken during the 2010s indicate that dogs diverged from an extinct wolf-like canid in Eurasia 40,000 years ago. Being the oldest domesticated animal, their long association with people has allowed dogs to be uniquely attuned to human behavior, as well as thrive on a starch-rich diet which would be inadequate for other canid species.
Dogs perform many roles for people, such as hunting, herding, pulling loads, protection, assisting police and military, companionship, and, more recently, aiding handicapped individuals. A: She comes and goes as she pleases, and is a good and attentive mother. She will be in with the pups at meal times or whenever else they need her. As they become more independent, she will come in to nurse them less but play with them more.

A: The lady with red and green hair is "Mrs. Kaiju" and the balding man is her husband "Mr. Kaiju." The older lady with graying hair is Mrs. Kaiju's mom, Grandma Kaiju. Anyone else is a friend of the family or future puppy owner.

A: Yes. Some pups have a very strong instinct to suckle and it gives them comfort, like a kid sucking his thumb. They'll grow out of it.

The mother's name is Godzuki. The father's name is King Ghidora. We own both parents. The puppies' color is called brindle or tora (tiger). They were born around noon on July 3rd. Although they appear almost black now, the puppies will have coloration like their mom when they grow up.
The parents are purebred Japanese Akitas from Japan. They are not American Akitas or mixed with American Akita. They have health clearances for hips and eyes through OFA and an independent thyroid panel. We show our dogs in AKIHO, NIPPO, and UKC. We also do nose work, lure coursing, and barn hunt. We are members of AKIHO and the Japanese Akita Club of America (JACA) and work tirelessly to preserve and protect the breed. We occasionally foster dogs for rescue and often give financial assistance to Akita rescues through JACA Cares or directly.
The puppies are NOT AVAILABLE. We have a long waiting list and lots of great homes to choose from before we even begin planning a litter. Our screening process is very selective. All pups come with health warranties, microchip, spay/neuter if sold as a pet, and our promise to be on call 24/7 for anything the owner may need. We support our extended Kaiju Family for the lifetime of the dog. We will also accept back any pup we bred at any time for any reason.

Q: What are the puppies names and birth order?
* Rainier (male) red collar
* Shasta (female) purple collar
* Adam (male) blue collar

Q: What breed are the puppies?
A: Japanese Akita. Not the same thing as an American Akita, though people mistakenly use the wrong terms all the time.
Q: Are these dogs rescues?
A: No. They are purebred Japanese Akitas. Both parents come from Japan, and this breeding is part of our preservation efforts for this endangered breed.
Q: Why do they sleep so much?
A: They're still babies and they need to sleep a lot. Even when they get older, like most dogs they will nap frequently.

For those who are interested, here's a full description of the breed: A wonderful family dog - playful, loyal, affectionate and, once trained, extremely well-behaved in the house. Very good guard dog, good with children and people in general (as long as you are not in the process of breaking in, in which case you're on your own), a dog you will love with all your heart and have that love returned with interest. Important to note that Akitas are a very dominant and wilful breed and are not easy to train, so should not be taken on without full research and consideration of what is required. Strong hunting instincts and the need to dominate other dogs should be allowed for when out walking (Basically, they would make good Sumo wrestlers.) Give them plenty of love, train them properly and allow for their natural instincts and you will never regret the day you decided to adopt one.

Dog Almost Died After Eating Bag of Heroin Tossed Over Fence at Doggy Day Care
A drug deal goes really wrong when an innocent dog eats the evidence. Charlie goes to the Bark & Play in Denver and her owner says one day she got a frightening call saying the dog ate heroin that was tossed over the day care's fence, allegedly by a drug suspect who was fleeing police. Charlie was rushed to a vet and given Narcan, a heroin antidote. She is recovering, but her owner says she could have died and is grateful for the quick-thinking day care workers for taking action.
