The FIA GT1 World Championship is a world championship sports car racing series developed by the SRO Group and regulated by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It features multiple grand tourer race cars based on production road cars and conforming with the GT1 (2010-2011) and GT3 (2012-) regulations competing in one-hour races on multiple continents. Championships are awarded each season for drivers and teams.
The FIA GT1 World Championship has started in 2010 as a successor to the previous FIA GT Championship which featured the GT1 category as well as a GT2 category. In 2012 the series originally planned to move away from exclusive use of GT1 cars by allowing 2009-spec GT2 from the former FIA GT Championship as well as current performance balanced GT3 specification cars to compete alongside the series' current GT1 cars. However as there were no interested GT2 teams and only a handful of former GT1 runners were willing to participate, the SRO decided that the 2012 season would be contested with GT3-spec cars only (yet retaining GT1 in the series' title). All vehices will be performance balanced with weight and restrictor adjustments to make different makes artificially more equal.

yd222 had the chance to record this rare Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion being unloaded at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Due circumstances, we were not able to film this 911 GT1 Strassenversion doing some laps around the track. In the video you see how the 911 GT1 Strassenversion is unloaded from the trailer and drove in the pitbox and pitlane. This 911 GT1 was transported to the track in a customized trailer.

Hans records a fantastic looking Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion during the Concours d'Elegenace in Antwerpen, Belgium. Only 25 where made world wide. It has a 536bhp engine that goes in 0-60mph (0-100km/h) in 3.9 seconds and a topspeed of 193mph (310km/h). In this video you can see some interior, exterior and engine shots.

During a trackday on circuit Spa Francorchamps, I have recorded this Maserati MC12 Corsa. The Corsa is a variant of the MC12, but for trackday use only. The Corsa was developed directly from the MC12 GT1. Only 12 Maserati MC12 Corsas were ever sold to selected customers, each paid €1 million (US$1.47 million).

Leo Parente and ShakeDown prepare for the 3rd season of /DRIVE, by finding a racing connection to the Hennessey Venom GT that Matt Farah drives on his TUNED show return.
All the same pieces are there - Lotus Elise chassis, carbon body work, coil-over suspension, 6-speed transaxle, AND a Chevy Corvette-derived engine. Hmm, and only 17 years before Venom GT. So, maybe there are no new ideas, just better ways to execute them.

This is quite a sight. A Porsche 911 GT1, actually driving on the road. Spotted last summer in Cannes.
The GT1 is a road legal version of the race car that was racing at Le Mans. The car makes 544hp from the twin-turbo flat 6 and was built between 1997 and 1998. Only 25 were made for the road. Back in time, it did 0-60 in 3.9s, which was an incredible performance.

As you can see it was raining and this car doesn't feature the ABS by making the Corsa a tough car to drive in these conditions! ULTRA RARE Porsche 911 GT1 Driving on the Road!
This is quite a sight. A Porsche 911 GT1, actually driving on the road. Spotted last summer in Cannes. The GT1 is a road legal version of the race car that was racing at Le Mans. The car makes 544hp from the twin-turbo flat 6 and was built between 1997 and 1998. Only 25 were made for the road. Back in time, it did 0-60 in 3.9s, which was an incredible performance. Enjoy! -

You jump onboard the insane Maserati MC12 Corsa for a full lap around SPA-Francorchamps! The Corsa is the ultimate track version based on the road legal version but modified for the GT1 championship and limited to 12 units. Its 6.0L V12 engine now produces 755hp / 710nm with a total weight of 1150kg, enough for a good 330kph of top speed. As you can see it was raining and this car doesn't feature the ABS by making the Corsa a tough car to drive in these conditions! The GT1 is a road legal version of the race car that was racing at Le Mans. The car makes 544hp from the twin-turbo flat 6 and was built between 1997 and 1998. Only 25 were made for the road. Back in time, it did 0-60 in 3.9s, which was an incredible performance.

The cars needed to get from the paddock to the closed street that was used for runs throughout Bournemouth Wheels Festival, so they needed a police escort through a small stretch of the town.
This gave this R35 GT-R GT1 racer the opportunity to warm its tyres up in front of the crowd. I very almost took pictures instead of video here, and am glad I did the latter.
