Sacco is a town and comune in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy.
Sacco is known as La Città della Buona Fortuna (the lucky town), because many of its inhabitants have gone on to accomplish many great things[citation needed]. Vincenzo Collodi, who was born in the town in the early twentieth century, moved to Florence and invented a fish-hook that revolutionized the fishing industry. Also, Sacco is the first town of all the neighboring towns to have first installed an indoor bathroom, as opposed to the "outhouses" that were prevalent until the late 20th century. Its greatest athlete was Roberto Carnevale who rose up in the ranks to become the Italian heavyweight champion, amassing an unprecendeted record of 92 wins and 0 defeats in the Italian boxing circuit. He finally lost for the only time when "Downtown" Willie Parker bested him in fifteen seconds in Philadelphia, Mr. Carnevale's first bout outside of his native Italy. Mr. Carnevale died shortly thereafter. Many Sacchese claim it was because of a sudden shock brought on by his first career defeat, but medical experts say it was due to massive cerebral hemorraghing.
Ennio Morricone, Grand Officer OMRI, Italian pronunciation: [ˈɛnnjo morriˈkoːne], (born November 10, 1928) is an Italian composer and conductor, who has written music for more than 500 motion pictures and television series, in a career lasting over 50 years. His scores have been included in over 20 award-winning films as well as several symphonic and choral pieces. Morricone is most famous for his work in the Spaghetti Westerns directed by his friend Sergio Leone, including A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), and Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) but his career includes a wide range of composition genres making him one of the film world's most versatile artists. He is considered as one of the most influential film music composers of the 20th century.
Born in Rome, Italy, Morricone took up the trumpet as a child and attended the National Academy of Santa Cecilia to take lessons on the instrument at the age of nine. He formally entered a conservatory at the age of 12, enrolling in a four-year harmony programme. He received his trumpet diploma in 1946 and started working professionally, composing the music to "Il Mattino" ("The Morning"). Morricone soon gained popularity by writing his first background music for radio dramas and quickly moved into film.
Ferdinando Nicola Sacco (April 22, 1891 – August 23, 1927) and Bartolomeo Vanzetti (June 11, 1888 – August 23, 1927) were anarchists who were convicted of murdering two men during a 1920 armed robbery in South Braintree, Massachusetts, United States. After a controversial trial and a series of appeals, the two Italian immigrants were executed on August 23, 1927.
There is a highly politicized dispute over their guilt or innocence, as well as whether or not the trials were fair. The dispute focuses on contradictory evidence. As a result, historians have not reached a consensus.
Sacco and Vanzetti were convicted of the murders of Frederick Parmenter, a paymaster, and Alessandro Berardelli, a security guard, at the Slater-Morrill Shoe Company factory, on Pearl Street in Braintree, Massachusetts, during the afternoon of April 15, 1920. Robbers had approached the two men as they were transporting the company payroll into two large steel boxes to the main factory. Berardelli, who was armed with a .38-caliber, five-shot, nickel-plated Harrington & Richardson revolver, was cut down as he reached for his gun on his hip; Parmenter, who was unarmed, was shot twice: once in the chest and a second time — fatally — in the back as he attempted to flee. The robbers seized the payroll boxes and escaped by climbing into a waiting getaway car, a stolen dark blue Buick, which raced off with the robbers firing wildly at company workers nearby.
