Jimmy McCulloch wote and sang this song on the 1976 Wings album "At the Speed of Sound." He had previously composed and sang another anti-drug tune "Medicine Jar" for the "Venus & Mars" album. He was the lead guitarist for McCartney's band 1974-1977.
A gifted musician- unfortunately Jimmy didn't heed the warnings of his own songs. Two years after leaving Wings, he died of a heroin overdose. This is my tribute to Jimmy.

Sir James Paul McCartney, MBE (born 18 June 1942) is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. With John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, he gained worldwide fame as the bassist of the rock band the Beatles, one of the most popular and influential groups in the history of pop music; his songwriting partnership with Lennon is one of the most celebrated of the 20th century. After the band's break-up, he pursued a solo career and formed Wings with his first wife, Linda, and Denny Laine.
McCartney has been recognised as one of the most successful composers and performers of all time, with 60 gold discs and sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles of his work with the Beatles and as a solo artist. More than 2,200 artists have covered his Beatles song "Yesterday", more than any other copyrighted song in history. Wings' 1977 release "Mull of Kintyre" is one of the all-time best-selling singles in the UK. A two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a member of the Beatles in 1988, and as a solo artist in 1999), and a 21-time Grammy Award winner (having won both individually and with the Beatles), McCartney has written, or co-written 32 songs that have reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of 2014 he has sold more than 15.5 million RIAA-certified units in the United States. McCartney, Lennon, Harrison and Starr received MBEs in 1965, and in 1997, McCartney was knighted for his services to music.

Wings at the Speed of Sound
Wings at the Speed of Sound is the fifth studio album by Wings and was recorded and issued in 1976 in the midst of a large world tour as the follow-up album to the popular Venus and Mars. It is the band's only album where every member sings lead on at least one song.
History
After a series of concerts in Australia in November 1975, Wings took a break from the tour to spend the holidays with their families and in January 1976 booked time at Abbey Road Studios in London to record Wings at the Speed of Sound. It was the first time McCartney had recorded an album in England since Red Rose Speedway. Due to the tour commitments, Wings were not afforded the opportunity to record in another locale. By the end of February, the album was complete, and Wings went back on the road.
Around the time of the studio sessions for Wings at the Speed of Sound, McCartney was facing criticism for Wings simply being a vehicle for himself. He encouraged each of the band members to contribute a song during the sessions, though this would become one of the reasons for the criticism of the album. McCartney had previously attempted to create a democratic album in Red Rose Speedway, though it would be rejected by his record label.

Wings, also known as Paul McCartney and Wings, were an Anglo-American rock band formed in 1971 by former Beatle Paul McCartney with his wife Linda, session drummer Denny Seiwell, and former Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine. Wings were noted for frequent personnel changes as well as commercial success, going through three lead guitarists and four drummers. However, the core trio of the McCartneys and Laine remained intact throughout the group's existence.
Created following the McCartneys' 1971 album Ram, the band's first two albums, Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway (the latter featuring guitarist Henry McCullough), were viewed as artistic disappointments beside Paul McCartney's work with the Beatles. After the release of the title track of the James Bond movie Live and Let Die, McCullough and Seiwell resigned from the band. The McCartneys and Laine then released 1973's Band on the Run, a commercial and critical success that spawned two top ten singles in "Jet" and the title track. Following that album, the band recruited guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Geoff Britton, only for Britton to quit shortly afterwards and be replaced by Joe English. With the new line-up, Wings released Venus and Mars, which included the US number one single "Listen to What the Man Said", and undertook a highly successful world tour over 1975–76. Intended as more of a group effort, Wings at the Speed of Sound was issued midway through the tour and featured the hit singles "Silly Love Songs" and "Let 'Em In".

Jimmy McCulloch wote and sang this song on the 1976 Wings album "At the Speed of Sound." He had previously composed and sang another anti-drug tune "Medicine Jar" for the "Venus & Mars" album. He was the lead guitarist for McCartney's band 1974-1977. A gifted musician- unfortunately Jimmy didn't heed the warnings of his own songs. Two years after leaving Wings, he died of a heroin overdose. This is my tribute to Jimmy.

From this tour came both the legendary "Wings over America" triple live album and the concert film "Rockshow". Although filmed on this tour at the enormous Kingdome in Seattle, "Rockshow", originally a cut down version of the concert, was not premiered until November 1980 in New York and April 1981 in London. It was released on Betamax and later on laserdisc. Now for the first time the complete full length concert is being made available fully restored from the original 35mm film and with restored & remastered sound, including a 5.1 mix for the first time. This is Paul McCartney and Wings live on stage in a concert that is destined to live forever!

Paul McCartney: Something New is an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look into the creative life of the most successful artist in music history. Something New features incredible live and backstage footage shot around the world during his amazing run of shows in 2013 and documents the creation of Paul McCartney's recently released album New.
Rapturously received upon its October release, New has rightfully earned some of the best critical notices of Paul's solo discography, including Rolling Stone placing it high in their Top 50 Albums of 2013 and raving "As Macca understands better than almost anyone, rock & roll is fueled by a hunger for good times and an ageless exuberance."
Directed by Don Letts, whose credits include the GRAMMY-winning The Clash: Westway to the World, the program also integrates intimate footage of the actual recording process along with vivid memories and incisive reflections of Paul and the album's star-studded production team.
There was no particular plan for Paul McCartney's sixteenth studio album. The initial intention was to go in and demo with a handful of producers, and see who was the right fit for the full album. There is Paul Epworth, architect of Adele's monstrously successful 21 and Mark Ronson, known for his work on Amy Winehouse's classic recordings. And close to the family, there is Giles Martin and Ethan Johns, both celebrated producers in their own right and both sons of men renowned for their prominent roles in Paul's previous works. "I did a lot of work with Giles's Dad, George, in Beatles days; Glyn Johns worked with us on Let It Be and Wings stuff," Paul says in case anyone needed reminding.
Chronicling yet another peak into Paul McCartney's legendary career, Something New is a rare glimpse into his incomparable artistry, his creative process and the incredible impact his music has all over the world.

Flowers in the Dirt did earn good reviews but perhaps more important was its accompanying tour, McCartney's first full-fledged world tour in years. Given the tour's enthusiastic reception, McCartney could wait until 1993 to deliver the album's proper sequel, Off the Ground. Though it isn't as consciously ambitious, Off the Ground certainly picks up where Flowers left off, as McCartney feels no shame in making an album that doesn't aim for the charts (though success would certainly be welcomed), yet is still classy, professional, and ambitious. Two key differences appear: It's a leaner production (making the mid-tempo numbers seem less cloying and giving the rockers real kick), and McCartney's social conscience dominates the record (which is easily his most politically active, as he rails against animal testing and pleads for world peace several times). He doesn't leave love or whimsy behind ("Biker Like an Icon" is easily his worst, most studied stab at whimsy), and he still has a pair of fine McCartney/MacManuss songs ("Mistress and Maid," "The Lovers That Never Were") to pull out. This all results in a record that has its virtues — it's clean and direct, where many of his solo albums are diffuse and meandering, and it's serious-minded where many rely on cutesiness — but, overall, Off the Ground feels like less than the sum of its parts, possibly because the seriousness is too studied, perhaps because the approach is a bit too stodgy. Nevertheless, this has nearly as many successful moments as Flowers in the Dirt, standing as a deliberately serious comeback record by an artist who spent too much time relying on his natural charm, and who feels no shame in overcompensating at this stage of the game. Wino Junko (cover)
Jimmy McCulloch wote and sang this song on the 1976 Wings album "At the Speed of Sound." He had previously composed and sang another anti-drug tune "Medicine Jar" for the "Venus & Mars" album. He was the lead guitarist for McCartney's band 1974-1977. A gifted musician- unfortunately Jimmy didn't heed the warnings of his own songs. Two years after leaving Wings, he died of a heroin overdose. This is my tribute to Jimmy.

2008 compilation from this '60s outfit featuring the precocious talents of 14-year-old guitarist Jimmy McCulloch (who would eventually become a member of Paul McCartney's Wings), Scottish band One In A Million's genre-defining December 1967 single Fredereek Hernando/Double Sight is widely acknowledged as one of the rarest and best British Psychedelic singles of the era.
