Public Image Ltd (also known as PiL) are an English post-punk band formed by singer John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten), guitarist Keith Levene, bassist Jah Wobble, and drummer Jim Walker. Personnel has changed frequently over the ensuing years. Lydon is the sole constant member of the band.
Lydon emerged after the break-up of the Sex Pistols with PiL's Public Image: First Issue (1978). The new band had a more experimental sound: a "droning, slow-tempo, bass-heavy noise rock, overlaid by Lydon's distinctive, vituperative rant". Their early work is often regarded as some of the most challenging and innovative music of the post-punk era. Their 1979 album Metal Box was ranked number 469 on Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The NME described PiL as "arguably the first post-rock group".
Following the Sex Pistols' break-up in 1978, Lydon spent three weeks in Jamaica with Virgin Records head Richard Branson, in which Lydon assisted Branson in scouting for emerging reggae musicians. Branson also flew American band Devo to Jamaica, aiming to install Lydon as lead singer in the band. Devo declined the offer.

Plot: Ragnar and Frida married solely because she was pregnant. Later he would have a passionate side-affair with Rut. Rut's sexual feelings were highly neurotic because she had been sexually abused by her stepfather. When the chimney sweep came, she seduced him and afterward felt dirty and desperate. She found and seduced Ragnar. From the beginning she interspersed mean attacks. During the war he was drafted, but deserted. He and Rut hired a room by the chimney sweep. Soon Rut seriously stabbed Ragnar's hand with a fork and they were thrown out. But whatever Rut did, she could always "make it undone" by one word. Eventually they lived at the loft of an empty storehouse. On New Year's Eve Rut went to her mother and stepfather and demanded all cash the latter had. He gave her what was equal to four months salary for an unskilled worker. Ragnar believed she had got the money by prostitution. He left her and reported himself to the police. Rut promised to revenge herself. Ragnar was acquitted because a friend testified that he was mentally ill when he deserted. He and Rut reconciled, but she did not forget her promise. She left him when it would hurt most. He tried to kill himself, but was saved.

http://phenagen.blogspot.com/ ABC, 'American Bandstand'. PiL's, hilarious, and now infamous, 'performance' on the prime time US pop show is broadcast on National TV. Pre-recorded on 3rd May, PiL mime to 'Poptones' and 'Careering.' Presenter Dick Clarke introduces the band as, "a memorable moment in rock n roll, something special and interesting". The longstanding mainstream music show is thrown into chaos as Lydon invites almost the entire audience up to dance with the band on stage! John barely pretends to mime, and the band swap instruments. Lydon later commented, "I forgot the words to the song, and I was miming really badly, so I had to act quick. And did. Perfect!" When asked to introduce themselves to Dick Clark Wobble replies, "Wobble. THE Jah Wobble". The pair have actually alread...
Public Image Limited interview with Keith Levene & John Lydon on The Tom Snyder Show 1980
This clip has a little more footage than the others currently posted. The beginning is a jumbled cacophony of voices, but from what I understand, the chubby, mustachioed presenter had played a video of a member of the Angelic Upstarts issuing some critical words about John Lydon. John didn't particularly appreciate this, so he starts to get a little upset. Enjoy.

http://hymieshim.blogspot.com/ Mond: Can I say, it had nothing to do with Johnny Rotten, right? Seeing as Johnny is on this programme, right? Can I just say first of all, I'm much better looking than Johnny Rotten, and I think he's a terrible singer, and I'm glad that Jimmy Pursey has got his job in the Sex Pistols. Okay? I think the best thing the Pistols ever done is sacking Johnny Rotten. Chris Cowey: What is your personal view on the music itself? Mond: What? The Pistols music? Chris Cowey: No, anything. Mond: Anything will be 100% better without Johnny Rotten, I'll tell you that. Chris Cowey: Well alright. They haven't got Johnny Rotten now. So what about the music itself? What particularly gets you into it; nothing to do with the Pistols or Johnny Rotten or anything. Mond: It...
