GARP’s New York chapter was pleased once again to bring together a panel of experienced professionals from risk-related fields to provide insight into the current state of the economy and trends and opportunities for careers in risk management. The theme for this year’s event was “Careers in Risk: Post-Crisis Risk Management - Adapting to The New Normal.” Following the 2007-2009 financial crisis, the global regulatory landscape has changed markedly. The increased regulatory focus has led to an expansion of risk departments across the street. The panel will provide insight for both the novice and the experienced practitioner on how to prepare for the changes to come. Panelists addressed: what impact this changing landscape has had on the required skill-sets for the new breed of risk professionals, how the role of the CRO has evolved in this environment, and whether they expect the landscape to continue to change/expand or if the threshold may have been reached.
