Barton Lynch

Barton Lynch (born August 9, 1963) is an Australian surfer known for his competitive prowess and style. In 1988, he was crowned ASP World Tour Champion. He also won the 1991 Rip Curl Pro. In 1998, he was inducted into the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame, and in 2000, he was inducted into the Australian Sporting Hall of Fame.

Life and career

Lynch was born in Manly, New South Wales on August 9, 1963 and was raised in the nearby Sydney suburb of Whale Beach. The son of a policeman, he started surfing when he was 8 years old. He quickly mastered the tricky, powerful sandbars, which proved to be a training ground for the world stage; the same waves nourished the talents of Stuart Entwistle, Layne Beachley and Pam Burridge.

Lynch emerged from the beachbreak of Manly with a flexible and gymnastic style and unflappable competitive drive that helped him to a successful junior career, including victories in the Pro Junior, the JJJ Junior and the ASPA ratings. He refined his competitive act into a fluid routine of vertical maneuvers that brought him immediate success on the ASP World Tour. He spent 13 consecutive years in the top 16, earning a reputation as a brilliant tactical competitor as well as a forthright and articulate spokesman for the sport. His greatest competitive moment came in Hawaii, where he won both the 1988 Billabong Pro and the 1988 ASP World Tour title.

Barton Ward, representing the village of Barton Seagrave, is a 2-member ward within Kettering Borough Council. The ward was last fought at Borough Council level in the 2007 local council elections, in which both seats were won by the Conservatives.

Barton (horse)

Barton (19 February 1993–2004) was a British racehorse of Thoroughbred and Anglo-Arabian ancestry who competed in National Hunt racing. In a racing career which lasted from October 1997 until November 2003 he won fourteen of his twenty-six races. He had his greatest success in the 1998/1999 National Hunt season when he dominated the novice hurdle division in Britain, winning all seven of his races including the Classic Novices' Hurdle, Winter Novices' Hurdle, River Don Novices' Hurdle, Royal & SunAlliance Novices' Hurdle and Mersey Novices' Hurdle. After missing the next season he returned to win the Fighting Fifth Hurdle and the Aintree Hurdle, easily defeating Best Mate in the latter race. When switched to steeplechasing he won the Dipper Novices' Chase and the Mildmay Novices' Chase but was never as effective as he had been over hurdles.

Background

Barton was a light-coated chestnut horse with a white blaze bred in Somerset by the Conkwell Grange Stud. During his racing career he stood over seventeen hands high making him an unusually large Thoroughbred: he was described as having a "narrow frame" and a long neck. He was probably the best horse sired by the French-bred stallion Port Etienne. His dam was a French mare named Peanuts, which made Barton one of the few notable racehorses produced by Thoroughbred family 42. Despite her heritage, Peanuts and her descendants were not technically Thoroughbreds as she was a great-granddaughter of Calabres, a mare whose pedigree included desert-bred Arabian stallions Telmese and Kahil El Adjouz.

Lynch (band)

Lynch. (stylized as lynch.) is a Japanese Nagoya kei metal band formed in 2004. The band's concept is "uniting heavy music with beautiful melodies." As of 2015, the group has released two EPs, eight albums, and 15 singles.

History

Lynch. was formed in 2004 when Reo (ex-GULLET) joined with Hazuki (formerly in Deathgaze) and Asanao in Nagoya, Japan. With Yukino (formerly in Deadman) as a support bassist, they released their first album on the label Marginal Works and toured nationally. In 2006, Yusuke joined as a second guitarist.

On October 11, 2007, the band signed to CLJ Records, a European record label dedicated to releasing Japanese rock artists abroad. Since 2012 Lynch. are signed to Okami Records, a European record label releasing the highlights of the Japanese music scene apart from Visual Kei. Their music is available worldwide ever since then.

In 2009, Lynch. went on a three-man tour with heidi. and Sadie. On May 27, 2009, they announced via their official site the release of their fourth full-length album, "Shadows", which was released on July 8, 2009.
