For a more laid-back experience of city life, catch a sea breeze at Asilah or lovely Essaouira. The blue-washed town of Chefchaouen is an old time travellers' favourite and a great starting point to explore the impressive High Atlas Mountains. Climb Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North-Africa, passing lovely adobe villages and exploring the gorgeous Ourika and Amizmiz valleys on the way. The stunning panoramic view from the top will make it worth every bit of your effort to get there. Other praised hiking routes lead through the beautiful Ameln Valley in the Anti-Atlas and the wooded Rif Mountains in the very north.
Hop on a camel back for a trip through the golden Sahara sand dunes at Erg Chebbi, near Merzouga. Spend the night in a desert tent, under the incredibly starred sky. The Sahara is also accessible near the town of Zagora; it's easier to get to from Marrakech but doesn't have the imposing dunes of Erg Chebbi. Somewhat less easy to reach but therefor also less crowded are the dunes of Erg Chigaga near M'hamid. On your way to the desert, make sure not to miss the stunning Todra gorge near Tinghir. The ancient fortified city of Aït-Benhaddou is another must-see sight. Although rainstorms damage the mud-brick kasbahs time and again, this mostly abandoned village remains an impressive sight and has been the decor for a range of movies, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.

Hammams

There are two types of Hammam (steam baths) across Morocco.
The first is the tourist hammam, where you can go and be pampered and scrubbed by an experienced staff member. As these are promoted only to tourists they are the more expensive option with pricing usually around DH 150 for a hammam. They can not be technically referred to as a proper hammam, but they are nonetheless enjoyable, especially for the timid. Your hotel can recommend a good one.
The second option is to visit a "popular" Hammam. Popular hammams are the places where the locals go. Ask the staff at your hotel where they would go.

When most Westerners think of castles, they naturally think of their own in places like England and France however, Japan, too, was a nation of castle-builders. In its feudal days, you could find multiple castles in nearly every prefecture.

Because of bombings in WWII, fires, edicts to tear down castles, etc. only twelve of Japan's castles are considered to be originals, which have donjons that date back to the days when they were still used. Four of them are located on the island of Shikoku, two just north in the Chugoku region, two in Kansai, three in the Chubu region, and one in the northern Tohoku region. There are no original castles in Kyushu, Kanto, Hokkaido, or Okinawa.
Gardens

Japan is famous for its gardens, known for its unique aesthestics both in landscape gardens and Zen rock/sand gardens. The nation has designated an official "Top Three Gardens", based on their beauty, size, authenticity (gardens that have not been drastically altered), and historical significance. Those gardens are Kairakuen in Mito, Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, and Korakuen in Okayama. The largest garden, and the favorite of many travellers, is actually Ritsurin Park in Takamatsu.
Rock and sand gardens can typically be found in temples, specifically those of Zen Buddhism. The most famous of these is Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto, but such temples can be found throughout Japan. Moss gardens are also popular in Japan and Koke-dera, also in Kyoto, has one of the nation's best. Reservations are required to visit just so that they can ensure the moss is always flourishing and not trampled.

Other famous holy shrines include Itsukushima Shrine' in Miyajima, Toshogu Shrine in Nikko, the Kumano Sanzan, and the Dewa Sanzan. Kyoto also has many important historic shrines, such as Shimogamo Shrine, Kamigamo Shrine, and Fushimi Inari Shrine.

Nach der Katastrophe mit dem letzten Video, hab ich mich beeilt dieses Video rauszuhauen, also habe ich keine besonders komplexen Bearbeitungstricks angewandt. Dieser Teil zeigt unseren Weg zum Plateau "Eira do Serrado" und atemberaubende Ansichten der Gegend um Curral das Freiras und dessen Umgebung. Beschwert Euch nicht, daß ich diesen Tag in zwei Teile geteilt habe. Hätte ich die verblebenden ca. 25 Minuten auch noch mit eingebaut, hätte das Ganze um einiges länger gedauert. Der Soundtrack stammt vom gerade frisch veröffentlichten Album "Willma im Wunderland" von Willma Poppen. Mehr Details weiter unten.

After the fail with the last part, I hurried up to get this one out. So i didn't do a lot of complex editing. This part shows our way to the plateau of "Eira do Serrado" and some breathtaking views from the on the area surrounding Curral das Freiras. Don't complain about me splitting that day in 2 parts. As I said: Iwanted this video out ASAP, and including the remaining 25 minutes would have delayed it all. The soundtrack is from the absolutely freshly released album "Willma im Wunderland" by Willma Poppen. More details below.

Here is Helsingin seudun liikenne 211, a low-floor Bombardier Variotram operating on route 1A Eira. It is a rush hour-only route operating in the weekday morning and afternoon. This was filmed during my trip to Finland and Estonia in May 2017. Trams in Helsinki are operated by subsidiary HKL HST (Helsingin kaupungin liikennelaitos).
Due to the extremely slow wifi connection I have in Hong Kong right now, this will be the only public transit-related video I will upload now. When I find a place with better wifi I will upload more video from Helsinki and Tallinn. Next video to be uploaded will be the Finnair A350 to Hong Kong!

Eira
Eira is a neighborhood in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
The district dates back to the early 20th century and received its name after Eira Hospital in the neighboring district of Ullanlinna, which in turn took its name from Eira Hospital in Stockholm, which was named after Eir, the old Scandinavian goddess of healing.
Eira is located south from the city centre. The neighbourhood has some of the most expensive and sought-after old apartments in Helsinki, built in jugend style. Many foreign embassies and high-class restaurants are situated in Eira and the neighbouring district of Kaivopuisto.
Eira also appears in the movie Calamari Union directed by Aki Kaurismäki. In the movie the area of Eira symbolizes wealth and well-being, which the characters are trying to achieve by moving from Kallio to Eira.

Here is Helsingin seudun liikenne 211, a low-floor Bombardier Variotram operating on route 1A Eira. It is a rush hour-only route operating in the weekday morning and afternoon. This was filmed during my trip to Finland and Estonia in May 2017. Trams in Helsinki are operated by subsidiary HKL HST (Helsingin kaupungin liikennelaitos). Due to the extremely slow wifi connection I have in Hong Kong right now, this will be the only public transit-related video I will upload now. Indulge in the bustling activity there, listen to Arabic story tellers, watch magicians and Chleuh dancers. Fez, once Morocco's capital, is another gorgeous imperial city. Get lost in its lovely labyrinth of narrow Medieval streets, enjoy its huge medina, see the beautiful city gates, the ancient University of Al-Karaouine and the Bou Inania Madrasa. For a more laid-back experience of city life, catch a sea breeze at Asilah or lovely Essaouira. The blue-washed town of Chefchaouen is an old time travellers' favourite and a great starting point to explore the impressive High Atlas Mountains. Climb Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North-Africa, passing lovely adobe villages and exploring the gorgeous Ourika and Amizmiz valleys on the way. The stunning panoramic view from the top will make it worth every bit of your effort to get there. Other praised hiking routes lead through the beautiful Ameln Valley in the Anti-Atlas and the wooded Rif Mountains in the very north.
Hop on a camel back for a trip through the golden Sahara sand dunes at Erg Chebbi, near Merzouga. Spend the night in a desert tent, under the incredibly starred sky. The Sahara is also accessible near the town of Zagora; it's easier to get to from Marrakech but doesn't have the imposing dunes of Erg Chebbi. Somewhat less easy to reach but therefor also less crowded are the dunes of Erg Chigaga near M'hamid. On your way to the desert, make sure not to miss the stunning Todra gorge near Tinghir. The ancient fortified city of Aït-Benhaddou is another must-see sight. Although rainstorms damage the mud-brick kasbahs time and again, this mostly abandoned village remains an impressive sight and has been the decor for a range of movies, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.

The first is the tourist hammam, where you can go and be pampered and scrubbed by an experienced staff member. As these are promoted only to tourists they are the more expensive option with pricing usually around DH 150 for a hammam. They can not be technically referred to as a proper hammam, but they are nonetheless enjoyable, especially for the timid. Your hotel can recommend a good one.
The second option is to visit a "popular" Hammam. Popular hammams are the places where the locals go. Ask the staff at your hotel where they would go.

Because of bombings in WWII, fires, edicts to tear down castles, etc. only twelve of Japan's castles are considered to be originals, which have donjons that date back to the days when they were still used. Four of them are located on the island of Shikoku, two just north in the Chugoku region, two in Kansai, three in the Chubu region, and one in the northern Tohoku region. There are no original castles in Kyushu, Kanto, Hokkaido, or Okinawa.
Gardens

Japan is famous for its gardens, known for its unique aesthestics both in landscape gardens and Zen rock/sand gardens. The nation has designated an official "Top Three Gardens", based on their beauty, size, authenticity (gardens that have not been drastically altered), and historical significance. Those gardens are Kairakuen in Mito, Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, and Korakuen in Okayama. The largest garden, and the favorite of many travellers, is actually Ritsurin Park in Takamatsu.

When most Westerners think of castles, they naturally think of their own in places like England and France however, Japan, too, was a nation of castle-builders. In its feudal days, you could find multiple castles in nearly every prefecture.
Original Castles

Because of bombings in WWII, fires, edicts to tear down castles, etc. only twelve of Japan's castles are considered to be originals, which have donjons that date back to the days when they were still used. Four of them are located on the island of Shikoku, two just north in the Chugoku region, two in Kansai, three in the Chubu region, and one in the northern Tohoku region. There are no original castles in Kyushu, Kanto, Hokkaido, or Okinawa.
Gardens

Japan is famous for its gardens, known for its unique aesthestics both in landscape gardens and Zen rock/sand gardens. The nation has designated an official "Top Three Gardens", based on their beauty, size, authenticity (gardens that have not been drastically altered), and historical significance. Those gardens are Kairakuen in Mito, Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, and Korakuen in Okayama. The largest garden, and the favorite of many travellers, is actually Ritsurin Park in Takamatsu.
Rock and sand gardens can typically be found in temples, specifically those of Zen Buddhism. The most famous of these is Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto, but such temples can be found throughout Japan. Moss gardens are also popular in Japan and Koke-dera, also in Kyoto, has one of the nation's best. Reservations are required to visit just so that they can ensure the moss is always flourishing and not trampled.

Regardless of your travel interests, it's difficult to visit Japan without at least seeing a few shrines and temples. Buddhist and Shinto sites are the most common, although there are some noteworthy spiritual sites of other religions, as well.

Buddhism has had a profound impact on Japan ever since it was introduced in the 6th century. Like shrines, temples can be found in every city, and many different sects exist.
Horyuji Temple in Horyuji, just south of Nara, is the world's oldest wooden structure. The beautiful Phoenix Hall in Uji is seen by most visitors to Japan on the back of the ten yen coin, if not in real-life.

Shintoism is the "native" religion of Japan, so those looking to experience things that are "wholly Japanese" should particularly enjoy them as they truly embody the Japanese aesthetic. The holiest Shinto Shrine is the Grand Ise Shrine, while the second holiest is Izumo Shrine, where the gods gather annually for a meeting. Other famous holy shrines include Itsukushima Shrine' in Miyajima, Toshogu Shrine in Nikko, the Kumano Sanzan, and the Dewa Sanzan. Kyoto also has many important historic shrines, such as Shimogamo Shrine, Kamigamo Shrine, and Fushimi Inari Shrine.

Nach der Katastrophe mit dem letzten Video, hab ich mich beeilt dieses Video rauszuhauen, also habe ich keine besonders komplexen Bearbeitungstricks angewandt. Dieser Teil zeigt unseren Weg zum Plateau "Eira do Serrado" und atemberaubende Ansichten der Gegend um Curral das Freiras und dessen Umgebung. Beschwert Euch nicht, daß ich diesen Tag in zwei Teile geteilt habe. Hätte ich die verblebenden ca. 25 Minuten auch noch mit eingebaut, hätte das Ganze um einiges länger gedauert. Der Soundtrack stammt vom gerade frisch veröffentlichten Album "Willma im Wunderland" von Willma Poppen. Mehr Details weiter unten.

After the fail with the last part, I hurried up to get this one out. So i didn't do a lot of complex editing. This part shows our way to the plateau of "Eira do Serrado" and some breathtaking views from the on the area surrounding Curral das Freiras. Don't complain about me splitting that day in 2 parts. As I said: Iwanted this video out ASAP, and including the remaining 25 minutes would have delayed it all. The soundtrack is from the absolutely freshly released album "Willma im Wunderland" by Willma Poppen. More details below.

Here is Helsingin seudun liikenne 211, a low-floor Bombardier Variotram operating on route 1A Eira. It is a rush hour-only route operating in the weekday morning and afternoon. This was filmed during my trip to Finland and Estonia in May 2017. Trams in Helsinki are operated by subsidiary HKL HST (Helsingin kaupungin liikennelaitos).
Due to the extremely slow wifi connection I have in Hong Kong right now, this will be the only public transit-related video I will upload now. When I find a place with better wifi I will upload more video from Helsinki and Tallinn. Next video to be uploaded will be the Finnair A350 to Hong Kong!

THE TRAP is the continuation of my research around themes I have been exploring in my previous solo works. I have been focusing on the obsession with the "ideal/sucessful body", a kind of evolutionary canon structured by Western society based on the consumption of goods. I am intrigued by the ‘void’ that begins to appear as one passes from ‘private’ to the ‘public’ body. The ‘void’ could be a symptomatic and nihilistic loss that takes place in this transition, so that one can follow the canons in which we are all immersed, which propagate permanent contamination, based on the desire to "become" and “obtain”. THE TRAP is the continuation of my research around themes I have been exploring in my previous solo works. I have been focusing on the obsession with the "ideal/sucessful body", a kind of evolutionary canon structured by Western society based on the consumption of goods. I am intrigued by the ‘void’ that begins to appear as one passes from ‘private’ to the ‘public’ body. The ‘void’ could be a symptomatic and nihilistic loss that takes place in this transition, so that one can follow the canons in which we are all immersed, which propagate permanent contamination, based on the desire to "become" and “obtain”. These canons that propagate a desire, are particularly linked to ‘industry’ and ‘post-industry’, which gallop through virtual society, full of illusions and traps, wanting to keep us in a state of selfish entertainment so that some can triumph in the perverse game that is ‘contemporary society’. In a deeply empirical observation, I see people increasingly isolated in front of the screen, watching, sometimes appearing, with the simple purpose of being ‘objectified’ for the sake of a particular pleasure, to prove they exist and can, for a while, erase the burden of being ‘subject’. There is a certain pleasure in being passive, in being a ‘channel’ for desire. Television and other media are ideal platforms to prove that you "could" be a subject. The power of ‘image’ is terrifying, especially when associated with the body.
All societies impose to the individual, the desire to accomplish ‘something’ (usually already from an early age). Learning and coercion for the purpose of having social cohesion and peace to serve the needs of the industry, which creates social ‘standards’ to sell products (although the fragmentation of audiences and their specialization is still in development). We can highlight two verbs within this social and political learning that we are forced to memorize from childhood: "winning" and "getting". These verbs/desires blind us as much as they poison us. When reflection attempts to derail the gear to identify what is the origin of this ideology (because it seems the gem of the ideology of progress/capital), the conclusion is easily reached: this source does not serve a deep need, something that feeds our root, but it is instead useful to spread the merchandising of the great illusion, always in the form of distraction.
It seems that no matter how much we try to fight these normative "desires" that force us to our own entertainment in irrelevant surfaces (making us the actors of the old society of the spectacle), we never manage to escape and never absolutely (because absolution is impossible). Our own body becomes both "weapon" and "target" and we continue to perceive ourselves as a bionic machine because when we look at the mirror, we want to overcome ourselves, we want an intimate "public," we want to be the poster we see, even if that means stopping what we are. We aim to be transhuman or even posthuman to achieve an ideal body (both in terms of beauty and health) through technology and artifice.

As a child I saw the noise was snowfall. The TV dad built had 12 dials, there were no stations broadcasting, so I controlled the weather.It's now summer and technology is still guiding me and my meanings.

"There must be something curious about the proximity of a volcano." - D.H. Lawrence in "Sea and Sardinia"
The set evokes a volcano crater, thus referring to the imminence of catastrophe as well as the power of creation.
Coming across these surroundings, different persons will forge their identities.
Through their initial interactions we discover their petty need to be on top of situations, not missing a chance for dominating the others. Watching them, it is difficult, however, to tell who is in fact controlling whom and what.
Eventually, they will take a step in the direction of yet another being. Upon this new arrival, they challenge themselves, their individuality and the concern for the other. This gesture will lead them to the shattering of their adopted personae and to reveal their despair.
In response to a need for action, their proposal will be one of imagining and reinventing, of creating.
An unidentified figure ignored by most of them will watch us, the audience, throughout the course of their action.
"This performance is dedicated to the memory of Paula Massano (1949-2012), dancer and choreographer, one of the most influential persons in my professional path. Through her, I had my first contact with techniques and artistic approaches until then unbeknown to me. Above all I discovered improvisation and the role of the performer as a co-creator, with the added sense of responsibility in the making of a piece, and the fulfillment derived from that shared responsibility.
It lies in those times of working with Paula Massano the source of my biggest interest in a group creation like the present one: the challenge and enthusiasm of gathering a team of collaborators, from dance and theatre performers to musicians, from theoreticians to set, costume and light designers. It is in this assemblage of diverse artistic views and experiences that is embodied the proposal of the performance to be. The various contributions constitute the matter with which it is built. Through a professional and artistic dialogue, we collectively propose an aesthetic experience wishing it to be a possible answer to the observation of the world, both presently and timelessly.
We focused ourselves on human behavior and social interaction, on relationships regarding power and domination, exclusion and inclusion, dependency and self-determination. We considered complementarity and symmetry in developing the scenes; also working on the level of the individual and the group. We explored movement deriving from the tension between animal and human, quotidian and improbable, melancholic and vigorous.
In conceiving the stage design, the option was for an idea of exterior landscape employing a kind of material typically of interior spaces, a transition space, in which the threat of danger exists alongside a certain coldness or effacement. To inhabit it, in addition to other characters, we summoned figures from different imageries, like the mamuthone - from the carnival in Mamoiada, Sardinia - and the messenger - as in Greek Tragedy.
We neither could nor wanted to ignore the specific context in which we are living, both locally and globally. Andiamo! is an elicitation, necessarily treacherous, to those on the stage and out of it, who consider that the structures - and their strategies - encompassing our lives must be confronted."
