The Hyksos have invaded and cut off multiple trade routes! It's up to us to defeat this enemy by building a command center at Khmun. Out of all the missions so far, Khmun is the strangest of them all. The mission briefing also consists of red herrings designed to throw players off, so don't be fooled by them. Despite what the mission briefing states, you don't need a huge army here to defend any cities. The first troop request just requires an academy trained archer fort fully staffed as soon as possible, even though the mission briefing wants a massive army (which is impossible because of limited funds and almost no exports). You are also told cities will request stuff from you, but apart from obvious troop requests, no city will ask anything from you (there is a random request for Pottery, but I have no idea what triggers this to occur) Start by building in the North of the city and evolving it up to Common Residence as best as possible, while exporting whatever beer and barley you can under the conditions present. Your only local food stuff is Chickpeas: an imported food does become available later, but the amount that you can receive per year is so low that there is no way you could feed the size of city alone to have every house at Fancy Residence or more. It is highly recommended that the areas which you designate for manor housing be given the meat only, due to the limited trade (Ra's trading boost doesn't help much). Since there's a distinct lack of buildings in this mission (with the exception of some buildings like Breweries and Weavers), unemployment will run rampant here. Two manor areas will likely keep this down to prevent crime outbreak. Be careful: the luxury goods you need to import to produce manors and for the burial provisions are extremely expensive and if you don't import small amounts of them, you will find your cash supplies dwindling away fast. Don't bother using the flood plain here. It's tiny and does not have the capacity to produce enough food to support the size of city wanted, and since Osiris isn't worshipped here, flooding quality is set randomly by the game and cannot be changed. The larger expanse of flood plain is on the eastern bank: however, don't waste your time building on this side of the Nile, because all but one invasion will come from here. Only build on this side for an extra warship: after the warships have defended Itjtawy, destroy the additional warship on the East bank. Luckily, you have the rare chance of the monument already being built for you. If you accidentally manage to delete it, just import the Straw, Clay, Limestone and Wood needed to rebuild it. Itjtawy sells large amounts of straw and clay can be imported from Sharuhen. This mission is basically a case of rushing to fulfil the very early requests, then just spamming housing blocks everywhere and producing as much beer as possible for export. Don't be surprised if you run out of cash while trying to balance everything out. The goals are pretty modest and simple to reach: I managed 70 culture points here, from keeping all my housing at Common Residence with some manors. Prosperity will be the hardest one to achieve from all the excessive importing. Eventually, you'll manage to defeat the Hyksos and reclaim Egypt once again! This is the first of two parts. In this part, we get started on building the city, while racing as fast as possible to defend various cities from attack, as well as ourselves! We also manage to defend Rowarty from the enemy. Next part will just be the conclusion of a really boring and badly designed mission, by growing the city to the needed 6000 population.
