Although the Tupelo, MI based Spiritual QC's have existed in some form since 1968, it wasn't until the late '90s that they began recording and getting their due as a highly skilled traditional-styled black gospel group. And it wasn't until 1998 that the group started billing lead singer Lee Williams ahead of the Spiritual QC's name. Williams began performing gospel music as young as age eight, when his uncle -- a member of a group called the Gospel Stars -- put together the Gospel Stars Junior, a companion group featuring Williams and his three brothers. Williams' uncle also formed a group called the Spiritual QC's in 1962 (QC's standing for "qualified Christian singers"), and when this outfit broke up in 1968, Williams took the name for his own group at the time, in which he also played lead guitar. In the mid-'70s, two present-day Spiritual QC's joined the lineup: second lead vocalist Leonard Shumpert (born in Fulton, MS) and lead guitarist Al Hollis (born in Hazelhurst, MS). Although the Spiritual QC's toured off and on over the last three decades of the 20th century, it wasn't until the '90s that their music was documented extensively. (In the meantime, Williams had served a two-year stint in the Army and worked as a truck driver.) Through connections with their friends the Gospel Four, the Spiritual QC's entered the studio to record their first CD, Jesus Is Alive and Well, in 1996; members of the Gospel Four provided instrumental support, and their lead singer George Dean produced the record. A second album, Love Will Go All the Way, appeared in 1998, and the group -- now billed as Lee Williams & the Spiritual QC's, and with new full-time bassist Tommie Harris -- toured extensively behind it. That set the stage for 2000's Good Time, which crashed into the Top Ten of Billboard's gospel albums chart in November, in just its second week of release. (By this time, Al Hollis' son Patrick had joined the group as a drummer.) Accolades poured in during the next year; the group won Traditional Quartet of the Year at the Gospel Music Excellence Awards, and were nominated for Best Gospel Album at the Soul Train Music Awards. In May 2003, Williams and the Spiritual QC's released their fourth disc Right on Time.

They hit the pavement early in the morning, running through the streets of skid row in Los Angeles with an important goal in mind. “Making a new start,” says one of the runners.
That’s what all of the men in this running group want—a better life. They are homeless recovering addicts, now training to run marathons with Craig Mitchell.
Mitchell started the Midnight Mission Running Club. When he’s not out pounding the pavement with the group, he’s behind the bench at LA’s Superior Criminal Court house. He says, “It certainly provides a great balance for me as a judge to realize that in a different setting, the same people that I sent to state prison or to county jail, with the right supportive services in a different context, their lives can be rebuilt.” Since the program started four years ago, there have been numerous success stories.
Judge Mitchell says it comes down to realizing that one person’s mistake does not define them in their entirety. He says, “There are times as a judge that I have to lower the boom and it’s appropriate to protect the community to punish someone for what they did, but before I was a judge, before I entered the law, I was a high school teacher for 17 years and it instilled in me a sense of what people are capable of if they’re given the right tools set.” Most of the men in this club were not really into running until they met Judge Mitchell, since then, some have completed international marathons.
This year, they plan to run the LA Marathon and another one in the Vietnam. No doubt, Judge Mitchell is making a difference.
It’s expensive to run international marathons. Judge Mitchell pays for a lot of the costs out of his own pocket but the group keeps growing and funds are in need.

Although the Tupelo, MI based Spiritual QC's have existed in some form since 1968, it wasn't until the late '90s that they began recording and getting their due as a highly skilled traditional-styled black gospel group. And it wasn't until 1998 that the group started billing lead singer Lee Williams ahead of the Spiritual QC's name. Williams began performing gospel music as young as age eight, when his uncle -- a member of a group called the Gospel Stars -- put together the Gospel Stars Junior, a companion group featuring Williams and his three brothers. Williams' uncle also formed a group called the Spiritual QC's in 1962 (QC's standing for "qualified Christian singers"), and when this outfit broke up in 1968, Williams took the name for his own group at the time, in which he also played lead guitar. In the mid-'70s, two present-day Spiritual QC's joined the lineup: second lead vocalist Leonard Shumpert (born in Fulton, MS) and lead guitarist Al Hollis (born in Hazelhurst, MS). Although the Spiritual QC's toured off and on over the last three decades of the 20th century, it wasn't until the '90s that their music was documented extensively. (In the meantime, Williams had served a two-year stint in the Army and worked as a truck driver.) Through connections with their friends the Gospel Four, the Spiritual QC's entered the studio to record their first CD, Jesus Is Alive and Well, in 1996; members of the Gospel Four provided instrumental support, and their lead singer George Dean produced the record. A second album, Love Will Go All the Way, appeared in 1998, and the group -- now billed as Lee Williams & the Spiritual QC's, and with new full-time bassist Tommie Harris -- toured extensively behind it. That set the stage for 2000's Good Time, which crashed into the Top Ten of Billboard's gospel albums chart in November, in just its second week of release. (By this time, Al Hollis' son Patrick had joined the group as a drummer.) Accolades poured in during the next year; the group won Traditional Quartet of the Year at the Gospel Music Excellence Awards, and were nominated for Best Gospel Album at the Soul Train Music Awards. In May 2003, Williams and the Spiritual QC's released their fourth disc Right on Time.

The year 2015 is represented by the number 8 (2 + 0 + 1 + 5 = 8). The divine number 8 represents infinite balance and justice in belief systems and cultures across the world. The number 8 is about being in harmony, balancing both spirit and matter. It is the great Karmic equalizer, a force that just as easily creates as it destroys. The 8 balances the material and immaterial worlds, symbolizing good fortune, peace, and abundance. We are One.

The Misfits Meadow situated in the food and craft market area is a spot for kicking back and relaxing and feeling the vibe. From sublime and bohemian to the swinging sounds of the twenties with electro beats to night time prog, the stage runs from 6 pm until 9:30 am each day.
Be a misfit - come swing, come bling, come shake your thing.
CHILL TEMPLE . ♡ .
Featuring our homegrown chill out and ambient artists in a tranquil space the Chill Temple takes you on a journey of dubs, grooves and intelligent electronica. The chill temple is open from 6 pm until 6 am every day.

They hit the pavement early in the morning, running through the streets of skid row in Los Angeles with an important goal in mind. “Making a new start,” says one of the runners.
That’s what all of the men in this running group want—a better life. They are homeless recovering addicts, now training to run marathons with Craig Mitchell.
Mitchell started the Midnight Mission Running Club. When he’s not out pounding the pavement with the group, he’s behind the bench at LA’s Superior Criminal Court house. He says, “It certainly provides a great balance for me as a judge to realize that in a different setting, the same people that I sent to state prison or to county jail, with the right supportive services in a different context, their lives can be rebuilt.” Since the program started four years ago, there have been numerous success stories.
Judge Mitchell says it comes down to realizing that one person’s mistake does not define them in their entirety. He says, “There are times as a judge that I have to lower the boom and it’s appropriate to protect the community to punish someone for what they did, but before I was a judge, before I entered the law, I was a high school teacher for 17 years and it instilled in me a sense of what people are capable of if they’re given the right tools set.” Most of the men in this club were not really into running until they met Judge Mitchell, since then, some have completed international marathons.
This year, they plan to run the LA Marathon and another one in the Vietnam. No doubt, Judge Mitchell is making a difference.
It’s expensive to run international marathons. Judge Mitchell pays for a lot of the costs out of his own pocket but the group keeps growing and funds are in need.

Although the Tupelo, MI based Spiritual QC's have existed in some form since 1968, it wasn't until the late '90s that they began recording and getting their due as a highly skilled traditional-styled black gospel group. And it wasn't until 1998 that the group started billing lead singer Lee Williams ahead of the Spiritual QC's name. Williams began performing gospel music as young as age eight, when his uncle -- a member of a group called the Gospel Stars -- put together the Gospel Stars Junior, a companion group featuring Williams and his three brothers. Williams' uncle also formed a group called the Spiritual QC's in 1962 (QC's standing for "qualified Christian singers"), and when this outfit broke up in 1968, Williams took the name for his own group at the time, in which he also played lead guitar. In the mid-'70s, two present-day Spiritual QC's joined the lineup: second lead vocalist Leonard Shumpert (born in Fulton, MS) and lead guitarist Al Hollis (born in Hazelhurst, MS). Although the Spiritual QC's toured off and on over the last three decades of the 20th century, it wasn't until the '90s that their music was documented extensively. (In the meantime, Williams had served a two-year stint in the Army and worked as a truck driver.) Through connections with their friends the Gospel Four, the Spiritual QC's entered the studio to record their first CD, Jesus Is Alive and Well, in 1996; members of the Gospel Four provided instrumental support, and their lead singer George Dean produced the record. A second album, Love Will Go All the Way, appeared in 1998, and the group -- now billed as Lee Williams & the Spiritual QC's, and with new full-time bassist Tommie Harris -- toured extensively behind it. That set the stage for 2000's Good Time, which crashed into the Top Ten of Billboard's gospel albums chart in November, in just its second week of release. (By this time, Al Hollis' son Patrick had joined the group as a drummer.) Accolades poured in during the next year; the group won Traditional Quartet of the Year at the Gospel Music Excellence Awards, and were nominated for Best Gospel Album at the Soul Train Music Awards. In May 2003, Williams and the Spiritual QC's released their fourth disc Right on Time.

They hit the pavement early in the morning, running through the streets of skid row in Los Angeles with an important goal in mind. “Making a new start,” says one of the runners.
That’s what all of the men in this running group want—a better life. They are homeless recovering addicts, now training to run marathons with Craig Mitchell.
Mitchell started the Midnight Mission Running Club. When he’s not out pounding the pavement with the group, he’s behind the bench at LA’s Superior Criminal Court house. He says, “It certainly provides a great balance for me as a judge to realize that in a different setting, the same people that I sent to state prison or to county jail, with the right supportive services in a different context, their lives can be rebuilt.” Since the program started four years ago, there have been numerous success stories.
Judge Mitchell says it comes down to realizing that one person’s mistake does not define them in their entirety. He says, “There are times as a judge that I have to lower the boom and it’s appropriate to protect the community to punish someone for what they did, but before I was a judge, before I entered the law, I was a high school teacher for 17 years and it instilled in me a sense of what people are capable of if they’re given the right tools set.” Most of the men in this club were not really into running until they met Judge Mitchell, since then, some have completed international marathons.
This year, they plan to run the LA Marathon and another one in the Vietnam. No doubt, Judge Mitchell is making a difference.
It’s expensive to run international marathons. Judge Mitchell pays for a lot of the costs out of his own pocket but the group keeps growing and funds are in need.
