Malegaon 2008: Purohit ready to give undertaking on not sharing papers

During the in-camera proceedings of the case on Wednesday, Purohit assured the army that the inquiry papers would only be for the purpose of the trial and would not be shared.

OBJECTING TO the reply filed by the Army, Malegaon 2008 blast accused Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit told the court on Wednesday that he is ready to give an undertaking on not sharing the documents pertaining to the court of inquiry proceedings.

Earlier, Purohit, a former military intelligence officer, had written a letter to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on April 4 to obtain the documents after multiple pleas to the army had fallen on ‘deaf ears’.

Parrikar had directed the army to provide Purohit all documents requested by him, except those which have any confidential document.

The Army is expected to give its response on Monday after Purohit’s assurance of giving an undertaking before the court.
