Floyd Delafield Crosby, A.S.C. (December 12, 1899 – September 30, 1985) was an American cinematographer.
Crosby was born and raised in West Philadelphia, the son of Julia Floyd (née Delafield) and Frederick Van Schoonhoven Crosby.
In 1930, he married Aliph Van Cortlandt Whitehead and had two children: David Crosby of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and the late reclusive singer-songwriter Ethan Crosby (1937–1997).
During his career, Floyd Crosby was involved in the cinematography of more than 100 full-length movies. He won the 1931 Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on the film Tabu. He was also the cinematographer for High Noon (1952), considered to be among his best work, and for which he won a Golden Globe Award. Crosby also worked with B-movie director Roger Corman on several films.
Crosby served as a cinematographer for the U.S. Army Air Corps film wing, and made flight training films in World War II. He left the Air Corps in 1946.
Crosby divorced in 1960, and married Betty Cormack Andrews in the same year. He retired in 1972 to Ojai, California, where he died in 1985.
Pink Floyd were an English rock band formed in London. They achieved international acclaim with their progressive and psychedelic music. Distinguished by their use of philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, extended compositions and elaborate live shows, they are one of the most commercially successful and musically influential groups in the history of popular music.
Pink Floyd were founded in 1965 by students Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright. They gained popularity performing in London's underground music scene during the late 1960s, and under Barrett's leadership released two charting singles and a successful debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). David Gilmour joined as a fifth member in December 1967; Barrett left the band in April 1968 due to deteriorating mental health. Waters became the band's primary lyricist and, by the mid-1970s, their dominant songwriter, devising the concepts behind their critically and commercially successful albums The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), The Wall (1979) and The Final Cut (1983). The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall became two of the best-selling albums of all time.
David Jon Gilmour, CBE (born 6 March 1946), is an English musician, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. In a career spanning more than 50 years, he is best known for his work as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It was estimated that by 2012 the group had sold over 250 million records worldwide, including 75 million units sold in the United States.
In addition to his work with Pink Floyd, Gilmour has produced a variety of artists, for example the Dream Academy, and has had a solo career. In 2005, Gilmour was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to music. He was awarded with the Outstanding Contribution title at the 2008 Q Awards. In 2011, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him number 14 in their list of the greatest guitarists of all time. Additionally, Gilmour was voted number 36 in the greatest voices in rock by Planet Rock listeners in 2009.
David Jon Gilmour was born on 6 March 1946, in Cambridge, England. His father, Douglas Gilmour, eventually became a senior lecturer in zoology at the University of Cambridge, and his mother, Sylvia (born Wilson), trained as a teacher and later worked as a film editor for the BBC. At the time of Gilmour's birth they lived in Trumpington, Cambridgeshire, but in 1956, after several relocations, the couple moved their family to Grantchester Meadows.
David Van Cortlandt Crosby (born August 14, 1941) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. In addition to his solo career, he was a founding member of three bands: the Byrds; Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN, who are sometimes joined by Neil Young as Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young [CSNY]); and CPR.
Crosby has been depicted as emblematic of the 1960s' counterculture.
He wrote or co-wrote "Lady Friend", "Why", and "Eight Miles High" with the Byrds and "Guinnevere", "Wooden Ships", "Shadow Captain", and "In My Dreams" with Crosby, Stills & Nash. He wrote "Almost Cut My Hair" and the title track "Déjà Vu" for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's 1970 debut. He is known for his use of alternate tuning and jazz influence (notably on "Eight Miles High", "Wooden Ships", and "Déjà Vu" and with his group CPR).
Crosby has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: once for his work in the Byrds and once for his work with CSN. Five albums he contributed to are included in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, three with the Byrds and two with CSN(Y).
Graham William Nash, OBE (born 2 February 1942) is a British singer-songwriter known for his light tenor voice and for his songwriting contributions with the British pop group The Hollies, and with the folk-rock super group Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. A dual citizen of the United Kingdom and United States, Nash became an American citizen on 14 August 1978.
Nash is a photography collector and a published photographer. He was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Crosby, Stills & Nash in 1997 and as a member of The Hollies in 2010.
Nash was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2010 Birthday Honours List for services to music and to charity.
Nash holds four honorary doctorates, including one from New York Institute of Technology, one in Music from the University of Salford in 2011. and his latest Doctorate in Fine Arts from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Nash was born in 1942 in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, his mother having been evacuated there from the Nashes' hometown of Salford, Lancashire because of the Second World War. The family subsequently returned to Salford, where Graham grew up. In the early 1960s he co-founded The Hollies, one of the UK's most successful pop groups, with schoolfriend Allan Clarke. Credited on the first album as "Group Leader", he occasionally took a lead vocal. Nash was featured vocally on "Just One Look" in 1964, and sang his first lead vocal on the original Hollies song "To You My Love" on the band's second album In The Hollies Style (1964). He then progressed to often singing featured bridge vocals on Hollies recordings; "So Lonely", "I've Been Wrong", "Pay You Back With Interest". Also by 1966 Nash was providing a few solo lead vocals on Hollies albums & then from 1967 also on B-sides to singles, notably "On a Carousel" and "Carrie Anne".

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young http://miribilla.org/video-clip/ingles/crosby-stills-nash-young/index.html Crosby, Stills & Nash's The Acoustic Concert is mastered with a loud and full sound. Videotaped at a 1991 show in San Francisco that was done as a memorial to the group's friend, Bill Graham, there is more here than meets the eye -- indeed, what initially meets the eye is most unpromising, the decidedly overweight presence of David Crosby and Stephen Stills (evidently Graham Nash's metabolism won't let him gain weight). But as it turns out the group vocal prowess is still very much intact, because they harmonize magnificently (far better, in fact, than they generally did at Woodstock), and despite its being credited as The Acoustic Concert, that doesn't stop Stills from picking up an e...

On September 23 2015, David Crosby and Graham Nash joined David Gilmour onstage at the Royal Albert Hall on his Rattle That Lock Tour (2015-2016) to sing various songs, including Comfortably Numb. Here is a fan recording of it.
Roger Waters rejoined with David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright in Pink Floyd's first (and last) performance together in over 24 years. Speak to Me/Breathe/Breathe (Reprise), Money (5:04), Wish You Were Here (11:55), and Comfortably Numb (16:22) are performed by Pink Floyd at the London Live 8 concert, Hyde Park on July 2, 2005. As on the original recordings, Gilmour sang the lead vocals on "Breathe" and "Money", and shared them with Waters on "Comfortably Numb". For "Wish You Were Here", Waters sung half of the verse's lyrics, unlike the original recording. When Waters was not singing, he was often enthusiastically mouthing the lyrics off-microphone. With Richard Wright's death in September 2008, the Reunion Concert was to be the final concert to feature all four bandmates play...

Lyrics: Helplessly hoping her harlequin hovers Nearby awaiting a word Gasping at glimpses of gentle true spirit He runs wishing he could fly Only to trip at the sound of goodbye Wordlessly watching he waits by the window And wonders at the empty place inside Heartlessly helping himself to her bad dreams He worries did he hear a goodbye? Or even hello? They are one person They are two alone They are three together They are for each other Stand by the stairway you'll see something certain To tell you confusion has its cost Love isn't lying it's loose in a lady Who lingers saying she is lost And choking on hello They are one person They are two alone They are three together They are for each other

David Crosby - 1970 'The Alternate Remember My Name Album' Wally Heider Studios (Late 1970) San Francisco, California, USA Studio Soundboard recordings For David Crosby fans, this is a nice surprise -- a version of his famous first album suitable for karaoke for those who like to sing along. Most of them are indeed songs without words, which means there's less of Crosby and more of the excellent backup musicians who supported him wonderfully on this record. Jerry Garcia's contributions are particularly noteworthy, and much of the original album's power comes from his fantastic solos. This is even more obvious on the first version here of Cowboy Movie, which doesn't have his leads. -Original 00:00 Music Is Love (No Conga Overdubs) 03:20 Cowboy Movie (Instrumental No Jerry Garcia Overdubs...

Neil Young: Don't Be Denied....BBC documentary charting Neil's career from his first experiences in Canada through his trip south and his time with Buffalo Springfield, CSNY and Crazy Horse. Whilst he is claiming it is just about the music, the film shows Neil as a man of great integrity both musically and politically. Fascinating stuff. Neil Young grants rare and unprecedented access to the BBC for a documentary in which he traces his musical journey in his own words. The film was made from three hours of interview shot in New York and California, and uses previously unseen performance footage from the star's own extensive archives. AVAILABLE NOW ON DVD http://www.chromedreams.co.uk/crosby-stills-nash--young---fifty-by-four-1013-p.asp Towards the end of the 1960s, as the heat dissipated from a decade of radical change, cultural revolution and creative renovation, a new type of music artist emerged in Los Angeles - the Singer-Songwriter. Clustered in and around the city's rural canyons, singer-songwriters generally worked as solo troubadours, performing introspective, lyrical ballads as a medium of self-expression and personal examination. Collectively, these minstrels became affiliates of a new movement, one that began with a landmark album from three amongst their number; David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash. Alongside occasional collaborator Neil Young, Crosby, Stills and Nash refused to be labelled 'a ...
From childhood prodigy to veteran master, Birmingham-born Steve Winwood's extraordinary career is like a map of the major changes in British rock 'n' roll and rhythm and blues from the 1960s to the present. This in-depth profile traces that journey and reveals a master musician blending Ray Charles and English hymnody into a unique brand of English soul. From the blues-boom-meets-beat-group chart hits of the Spencer Davis Group, through the psychedelic pop of early Traffic and into Berkshire as Traffic become the first band to 'get their heads together in a country cottage', then via a brief sojourn in supergroup Blind Faith and back to Traffic as a jam band who conquer the emerging American rock scene, Winwood's first ten years on the boards were extraordinary. As the 80s dawned he rein...
