Hit and run
Hit-and-run is the act of causing (or contributing to) a traffic crash (such as colliding with a person or a fixture), and failing to stop and identify oneself afterwards. It is considered a crime in most jurisdictions.
Additional obligation
In many jurisdictions there may be an additional obligation to exchange information about one's financial responsibility (including any applicable insurance) or to summon emergency services if they are needed. There may also be requirement to leave a note containing pertinent information if the property owner is not present.
History
Hit-and-run laws arose from the difficulties that early traffic collision victims faced in identifying perpetrators so that they could be brought to justice. Apart from the obvious ability of an automobile to flee the scene quickly (if still driveable), drivers often wore driving goggles, vehicles at the time did not have license plates, and roads were unpaved and thus quite dusty.
Legal consequences
Hit-and-run has severe legal consequences, including the suspension or cancellation of one's driver's license (lifetime revocation of a driver's license is possible in certain jurisdictions). It is frequently considered a criminal offense which can be punished by imprisonment. Insurance companies often void the policies of drivers involved in this offense.

Raymond Charles Robinson (September 23, 1930 – June 10, 2004), professionally known as Ray Charles, was an American singer, songwriter, musician, and composer. He was sometimes referred to as "The Genius", and was also nicknamed "The High Priest of Soul".
He pioneered the genre of soul music during the 1950s by combining rhythm and blues, Gospel, and blues styles into the music he recorded for Atlantic Records. He also contributed to the racial integration of country and pop music during the 1960s with his crossover success on ABC Records, most notably with his two Modern Sounds albums. While he was with ABC, Charles became one of the first African-American musicians to be granted artistic control by a mainstream record company.
Charles was blind from the age of seven. Charles cited Nat King Cole as a primary influence, but his music was also influenced by jazz, blues, rhythm and blues, and country artists of the day, including Art Tatum, Louis Jordan, Charles Brown, and Louis Armstrong. Charles' playing reflected influences from country blues, barrelhouse, and stride piano styles. He had strong ties to Quincy Jones, who often cared for him and showed him the ropes of the "music club industry."

The Kinks
The Kinks were an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1963 by brothers Dave and Ray Davies. They are regarded as one of the most important and influential rock groups of the era. The band emerged in 1964 during the height of British rhythm and blues and Merseybeat, and were briefly part of the British Invasion of the US until their touring ban in 1965. Their third single, the Ray Davies penned "You Really Got Me", became an international hit, topping the charts in the United Kingdom and reaching the Top 10 in the United States. Between the mid-1960s and early 1970s, the group released a string of hit singles; studio albums drew good reviews but sold less than compilations of their singles. They gained a reputation for reflecting English culture and lifestyle, fuelled by Ray Davies' observational writing style. Albums such as Face to Face, Something Else, The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, Arthur, Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround and Muswell Hillbillies, along with their accompanying singles, are considered among the most influential recordings of the period.

At the start of the reconnaissance lap of the opening round of the 1990 FIA Formula 3000 Championship held at Donington Park, the Marlboro Lola T90/50 - Mugen #33 of team DAMS driven by Allan McNish starting from the third row, had engine trouble. McNish immediately pulled into the pits and changed his tyres because the track was getting dry. He re-started bringing up the rear of the field, being the only competitor with a set of tyres for dry asphalt.
Making up for lost time, McNish had overtaken several cars when on his 3rd lap, shortly after the Dunlop bridge at the end of the straight from Coppice Turn, he touched wheels with the Eddie Jordan Racing Reynard 90D - Mugen #1 driven by Emanuele Naspetti. McNish's vehicle was launched over the wall and into a spectator enclosure in a prohibited area, cartwheeling and hitting several parked cars. The Lola was completely desintegrated, one of the spectators Ray Plummer, 41, was killed on the spot by its engine which was ripped from the monocoque. At least five other persons were slightly injured, Emanuele Naspetti was unhurt.
Allan McNish, who was fastened in the cockpit's wreckage, was taken to hospital and remained unconscious for three days in consequence of the accident and strong feelings about ending his career after it. Asked to attend the fan's funeral by his widow, McNish was there told by her to keep going and not let what happened scupper his racing dreams. One month later McNish won the next round of the 1990 FIA Formula 3000 Championship held at Silverstone.
