Lewis (Scottish Gaelic: Leòdhas, pronounced [ʎɔː.əs̪], also Isle of Lewis) is the northern part of Lewis and Harris, the largest island of the Western Isles or Outer Hebrides (an archipelago) of Scotland. The total area of Lewis is 683 square miles (1,770 km2).
Lewis is, in general, the lower lying part of the island, with the other part, Harris, being more mountainous. The flatter, more fertile land means Lewis contains the largest settlement, Stornoway, and three-quarters of the population of the Western Isles. Beyond human habitation, the island's diverse habitats are home to an assortment of flora and fauna, such as the golden eagle, red deer and seals and are recognised in a number of conservation areas.
Lewis is of Presbyterian tradition with a rich history, having once been part of the Norse Kingdom of Mann and the Isles. Today, life is very different from elsewhere in Scotland with Sabbath observance, the Gaelic language and peat cutting retaining more importance than elsewhere. Lewis has a rich cultural heritage as can be seen from its myths and legends as well as the local literary and musical traditions.
Walter James "Wally" Lewis AM (born 1 December 1959 in Hawthorne, Queensland) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer and coach. Currently a television commentator of the sport, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest rugby league players of all time. His time as a player and coach was followed by a career as a newsreader for the Nine Network.
Nicknamed The King and also The Emperor of Lang Park, Lewis represented Queensland in thirty-one State of Origin games from 1980 to 1991, and was captain for thirty of them. He also represented Australia in thirty-three international matches from 1981 to 1991 and was national team captain from 1984 to 1989. Lewis is perhaps best known for his State of Origin performances, spearheading Queensland's dominance in that competition throughout the 1980s. He captained at State of Origin level 30 times, winning a record 8 man of the match awards.
Lewis has since been inducted into the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame and in 1999 he became the sixth member of 'The Immortals'. In 2000, he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his contribution to Australia's international standing in the sport of rugby league.

Andrew Johns says Wally Lewis is best player ever, not Johnathan Thurston JOHNATHAN Thurston has been hailed the game’s best ever player after his brilliant display in the North Queensland versus Brisbane blockbuster. It’s high praise, but hard to ignore when it comes from respected judges like the “King”, Wally Lewis. Fellow Immortal Andrew Johns, though, has called for calm. Johns still considers Lewis the greatest player he’s ever seen and believes comparisons to Thurston should be shelved until the Cowboys No.7 retires. “JT is up there in the top echelon, but I don’t know if he is better than Wally,” Johns told The Daily Telegraph. “That’s a big comment. “They (the Cowboys) were gone and you could see Johnathan was struggling and then the big moment came up, he stood up and won t...

Wally Lewis is a sporting legend! Known as 'King Wally' he is widely regarded as the greatest rugby league player of all time. During his career, Wally was hiding a secret from the public, a secret that would be exposed on television when he suffered an epileptic attack live on air. In this one-on-one interview, Wally tells of the relief he felt when his 'secret' was finally out. He also talks about his difficult transition to television presenter and the secret routine that got him through each bulletin.
The first of what i hope to be an ongoing theme for the aac journalist . I was a bit nervous interviewing probably the best footy player that has played in league. We had a chat about his family and in particular his daughters hearing impairment. Also we had a chat about Wallies epilepsy and how it has affected him personally. He would not give me his son lincon's mobile phone number but did give me hope as he mentioned he is single. I can live with that cause lincon is pretty damn HOT if i can be honest. Any way have a look subscribe if you like because this is the start of many more interviews.

In a far of land there lived a beautiful butterfly
In a kingdom full of blossom covered trees
And winding through this paradise, a river danced along
And played with the constant summer breeze
The butterfly found a tiny branch at the riverside
And watched the water rushing who-knows-where
Carefully he sheltered from the power of the breeze
For surely it could toss him through the air
“I’m a butterfly,” he said, “trivial and small
And in the greater scheme of things I don’t mean much at all
So I’ll flap my wings to stretch myself and just enjoy the view
I’m a butterfly, what more can I do?”
One afternoon, the butterfly asked the river
“Madam, what makes you hurry so?
What splendid destination are you rippling toward?
Where, oh, where do you go?”
The river said, “I’m headed for the ocean
And summer breeze inspires me to race
My friend, you’d love the ocean, it’s remarkable to see
Won’t you join our friendly chase?”
“I’m a butterfly,” he said, “trivial and small
And in the greater scheme of things I don’t mean much at all
So I’ll flap my wings to stretch myself and just enjoy the view
I’m a butterfly, what more can I do?”
So the butterfly, he dreamed of the ocean
He longed to flutter high above the seas
But there are dangers in the sky for a tiny butterfly
So from his branch he asked a question of the breeze
“What makes you chase the river towards the ocean?”
And the breeze told him a most amazing thing
“I’m simply made up of the currents in the air
That start from the movement of your wing, your tiny wing
“You’re a butterfly my friend, powerful and strong
And I’m grateful for the way you’ve always hurried me along
When you flap your wings to stretch yourself, it might seem small to you
But you change the world with everything you do”
So he stretched his wings and took off from the safety of his tree
