More than 90 percent of the people in the area are Hakka, and I listen to a table of drunk men in their 50s shout at each other in a mixture of Hakka and Mandarin sprinkled with Hoklo (also known as Taiwanese) swear words at Tonglouxiang (同樓香), a nondescript hole in the wall on Tongluo’s drab main drag ... LOSING YOUR MARBLES ... You need to be lucky to see an actual production run, though....
