Jedburgh (Scots Gaelic Deadard) (/ˈdʒɛdbərə/; Scots: Jeddart/Jethart, is a town and former royal burgh in the Scottish Borders and historically in Roxburghshire.
Jedburgh lies on the Jed Water, a tributary of the River Teviot. It is only 10 miles (16 km) from the border with England, and is dominated by the substantial ruins of Jedburgh Abbey. Other notable buildings in the town include Mary, Queen of Scots' House, Jedburgh Castle Jail, now a museum, and the Carnegie library.
Bishop Ecgred of Lindisfarne founded a church at Jedburgh in the 9th century, and King David I of Scotland made it a priory between 1118 and 1138, housing Augustinian monks from Beauvais in France. The abbey was founded in 1147, but border wars with England in the 16th century left it a ruin.
The deeply religious Scottish king Malcolm IV died at Jedburgh in 1165, aged 24. His death is thought to have been caused by excessive fasting.
A history in pictures of the town and its characters many who are not with us now however they will all be remembered and never forgotton ----Jethart's Here and always will be-------------

Jedburgh Floods 27/1/16. Video taken at Bottom road into Jedburgh. BMW Car was stuck in the floods and had to be pulled out of the floods with tractor. Unfortunately the handbrake on the stranded car would not release due to the car's electrics been out of action.

**I DO NOT OWN THE MUSIC! Fleur East – Sax. Kodaline – Ready** Helmet cam footage of Jedburgh’s Redesweir Common Ride on Sat 2nd June 2016. We rode approximately 31miles from Jedburgh to Reidsweir, to Dolphinston Moor and home again, setting off at 10am and returning at 6pm. I had two wonderful horses for the day – the coloured mare is Abbie, and the grey is Starsky. Both were hired from Edinburgh & Lasswade Riding Centre (as were the Official Party’s horses) – each was beautifully prepared, and my mounts were a pleasure to ride from start to finish! Filmed using my GoPro Hero 3+ Silver. Some additional footage in the town taken on my phone, as I broadcast live to facebook. Please see my fb page for the parade through town in full HD, complete with pipe band. Thanks all for watching ...
