Lowell Mason (January 8, 1792 – August 11, 1872) was a leading figure in American church music, the composer of over 1600 hymn tunes, many of which are often sung today. His most well-known tunes include his arrangement of "Joy to the World" and "Bethany", his setting of the hymn, "Nearer, My God, to Thee". He was largely responsible for introducing music into American public schools, and is considered to be the first important music educator in the United States. He is also widely criticized for his role in helping to largely eliminate the robust tradition of participatory sacred music that flourished in America before his time.
Mason was born and grew up in Medfield, Massachusetts, where he became the Music Director of First Parish (now First Parish Unitarian Universalist) Church at age 17. His birthplace residence was saved from development in 2011. It was relocated to a town park on Green Street. The Lowell Mason House foundation is an effort to create a Lowell Mason museum and music education center.
Isaac Watts (/wɒts/; 17 July 1674 – 25 November 1748) was an English Christian minister, hymnwriter, theologian and logician. A prolific and popular hymn writer, his work was part of evangelization. He was recognized as the "Father of English Hymnody", credited with some 750 hymns. Many of his hymns remain in use today and have been translated into numerous languages.
Born in Southampton, England, in 1674, Watts was brought up in the home of a committed religious Nonconformist; his father, also Isaac Watts, had been incarcerated twice for his views. At King Edward VI School, Watts had a classical education, learning Latin, Greek and Hebrew.
From an early age, Watts displayed a propensity for rhyme. Once, he responded when asked why he had his eyes open during prayers:
A little mouse for want of stairs
ran up a rope to say its prayers.
Receiving corporal punishment for this, he cried:
O father, father, pity take
And I will no more verses make.

This short documentary chronicles Lowell Mason's career, the saving of his birthplace from demolition and the current status of the Lowell Mason House. Lowell Mason was responsible for the introduction of music as part of the regular school curriculum in Boston in 1838. For this and for his work professionalizing the training of music teachers, he is considered the Father of Music Education in America's public schools. Produced and directed by Joseph Baron, the video shows that while much has been accomplished in saving the house, there is still much to be done. For more information on how you can help restore Lowell Mason's birthplace and help support music education, please go to our website at www.lowellmasonhouse.org. Money is manditory, my game is self explanitory,
I hit the blunt as I proceed to tell my ghetto stories,
I'm in to deep, for my peeps, bring them shovels for me,
Some niggaz strapped wit their gats tryin to kill your homies,
Didn't know me but met the heat when they ran up on me,
Left his wife and 2 kids at the crib lonely,
Got in the way of a stray bullet when I passed,
Trying to retaliate on beef that happened in the past,
Ways of the world how will I last when the economy crash,
I'm goin all out gettin my cash,
While spend mine open, wit my eyes on the world,
Ghettos and jail cells gave me stories to tell,
Body swells from the evil smells that I inhale,
Evil set me up to fail make my life so real,
People take precaution, time is being lost my souls series to scar,
I'm fightin demons off, its the ways of the world,
chorus 2x
Eventhough it hurts my chest,
I'm a spark til I lose my breath,
Livin the sin since life began,
Coming all way out the water to get oxygen,
Please father help me breath again, at ease again,
Lookin at myself in the mirror, I took a second to think,
Memories of being babies givin milk to drink,
Without a worry at mind, we would play all the time,
Name callin and b-ballin took up most of our time,
We were hard headed and ya'll said it,
From our parents to our teachers, and even preachers couldn't reach us,
I said my prayers,
I gave my momma gray hairs,
She lives in fear,
The thought of me not being their got her worried scared,
They say i look just like my father without the BEARED,
They should of named that nigga magic, he dissapeard,
A couple months out of the year, he reappears,
Its all the same ain't nothin changed, you still my nigga,
Don't hold a grudge, give me love,
I'm on my own,
I'm kinda sober from a broken home
Wondering what's goin on, did I deserve this
Living in Atlanta got us little nigga nervous
Mama tried to feed us all, until she got laid off
Had the rats paid off, now we all laid off
chorus 2x
Duckin the gun shots,at the age of 13,
There was a war zone, so you choose your team,
When the war strikes you better had a heart to fight,
or get lost in the world when you loose your life,
I prefer to live long, so I read and pray,
Surviving day to day, runnin the streets astray,
Living life for myself no company,
Prepare to meet the heat when you come for me,
And when I die, burn alive, thats a wish of mine,
I know that heaven when you's only make it hard to find,
And when you make it they gone take it, that's a must you know,
Don't think of gettin to the top without a problem or so,
I take precaution because the evils gotta hit on me,
I've been a bad boy but mommy don't you quit on me,
They built a jail so when we rise they can crush our dreams
Two of the largest in the industry, erased from the scene
And I don't wanna be a target so I got with a team
They gotta go around their body and do things you've never seen,
Know what i mean,
Take it deep like submarines, that's what we do,
Only human, tryin to get through the world with no confusion,
I close my eyes, so can't escape the pain of misery,
Prayin that you will rescue me, these are the ways of the world,
And if I had to choose between life and losing my sanity,
Go with the streets keep callin me,
These are the ways of the world.
