We were on a mission to find the best things to do in Buffalo, NY and were really surprised at all the thing you can do! Buffalo has a ton of culture, ever-present history and some amazing food to eat. We visited Buffalo's Canalside, Riverworks, Larkin Square for Food Truck Tuesday and we even took a kayak tour down the river with Elevator Alley Kayak. In the end we were amazed that there were so many fun things to do in Buffalo and know we'll be back to experience more of the city soon.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - When it comes to crime, the Queen City is among some of the most volatile urban areas in the United States, according to Forbes.
Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda has a message for people living in and visiting the City of Good Neighbors:
"I want them to know that Buffalo is a safe city. They should come down, enjoy themselves, and feel safe," he assured.
On Forbes Magazine's list of America's most dangerous cities, Buffalo ranked 10th. Detroit was first.

"The perception is not good," Derenda acknowledged. "But the reality is violence in the City of Buffalo is down."
The city's top cop says last year, homicides were at a 10-year low, and he points to a 17 percent drop in violent crime since 2005.
Common Council President Richard Fontana said, "I have no idea why Chicago's not in the top 10 with over 400 murders. But they must be using some statistics that really don't reflect the reality on the street."
Forbes ranked U.S. cities with a population over 200,000 according to their violent crime rate. Though top officials question the statistic, resident Pamela Miszko says she's not surprised by Buffalo's ranking.
"There's a lot of crime around here, and instead of giving tickets to people, go where the crime is," Miszko said.
And Melinda Morlock thinks patrols could be better utilized.
"They're not where they should be," she contends. "Where I think, and I come down. I used to come down a lot more. But they're not where the dangerous hot spots are."
But Murray Holman, Executive Director of the Stop the Violence Coalition, doesn't think high ranking reflects the reality on the streets.
"I don't see it. I don't see the numbers like that. We do tremendous work in the city. For us to be number 10, they got to be getting their numbers wrong some kind of way," Holman said.

Buffalo is a city in Western New York and the seat of Erie County, on the eastern shores of Lake Erie at the head of the Niagara River. As of 2014, Buffalo is the state's second most populous city after New York City with 258,703 residents, and with a population of 1.13 million, the metropolitan area is the 50th largest in the United States.
Buffalo grew significantly in the 19th and 20th centuries as a result of the Erie Canal, railroads and Lake Erie, providing an abundance of fresh water and an ample trade route to the Midwestern United States, while grooming its economy for the grain, steel and automobile industries during the 20th century. Buffalo's economic sectors include industrial, light manufacturing, high technology and services.

In banking, Buffalo is the headquarters of M&T; Bank and First Niagara Bank.
Buffalo is home to Rich Products, Canadian brewer Labatt, cheese company Sorrento Lactalis, Delaware North Companies[58] and New Era Cap Company.
The loss of traditional jobs in manufacturing, rapid suburbanization and high labor costs have led to economic decline and made Buffalo one of the poorest U.S. cities with populations of more than 250,000 people. An estimated 28.7–29.9% of Buffalo residents live below the poverty line, behind either only Detroit,[59] or only Detroit and Cleveland.[60] Buffalo's median household income of $27,850 is third-lowest among large cities, behind only Miami and Cleveland; however the metropolitan area's median household income is $57,000.[61] This, in part, has led to the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area having the most affordable housing market in the U.S. The quarterly NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index (HOI) noted nearly 90% of the new and existing homes sold in the metropolitan area during the second quarter were affordable to families making the area's median income of $57,000.[citation needed] As of 2014, the median home price in the city was $95,000.[62]
Buffalo's economy has begun to see significant improvements since the early 2010s.[63] Money from New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo through a program known locally as "Buffalo Billion" has brought new construction, increased economic development, and hundreds of new jobs to the area.[64] As of March 2015, Buffalo's unemployment rate was 5.9%,[65] slightly above the national average of 5.5%.[66] In 2016, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis valued the Buffalo area's economy at $54.9 billion.
Sports
Buffalo and the surrounding region is home to two major league professional sports teams. The NHL's Buffalo Sabres play in the City of Buffalo, and the NFL's Buffalo Bills play in suburban Orchard Park, New York. Buffalo is also home to several minor sports teams, including the Buffalo Bisons (baseball; an affiliate of the MLB's Toronto Blue Jays), Buffalo Bandits (indoor lacrosse) and FC Buffalo (soccer) as well as a professional women's team the Buffalo Beauts (Hockey). The Buffalo Bulls are a Division I college team representing the State University of New York at Buffalo, and several other Buffalo-area colleges and universities are also active in college athletics.

York (
i/ˈjɔːrk/) is a historic walled city at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England, and is the traditional county town of Yorkshire to which it gives its name. The city has a rich heritage and has provided the backdrop to major political events in England throughout much of its two millennia of existence. The city offers a wealth of historic attractions, of which York Minster is the most prominent, and a variety of cultural and sporting activities making it a popular tourist destination for millions.
The city was founded by the Romans as Eboracum in 71 AD. It became the capital of the Roman province of Britannia Inferior, and later of the kingdoms of Northumbria and Jórvík. Buffalo: 10th dangerous city in America Forbes Magazine puts Queen City in top 10 on list Updated: Monday, 22 Oct 2012, 5:58 PM EDT Published : Monday, 22 Oct 2012, 4:50 PM EDT Luke Moretti Posted by: Eli George BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - When it comes to crime, the Queen City is among some of the most volatile urban areas in the United States, according to Forbes. Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda has a message for people living in and visiting the City of Good Neighbors: "I want them to know that Buffalo is a safe city. They should come down, enjoy themselves, and feel safe," he assured. On Forbes Magazine's list of America's most dangerous cities, Buffalo ranked 10th. Detroit was first. MORE | See the full list from Forbes here "The perception is not good," Derenda acknowledged. "But the reality is violence in the City of Buffalo is down." The city's top cop says last year, homicides were at a 10-year low, and he points to a 17 percent drop in violent crime since 2005. Common Council President Richard Fontana said, "I have no idea why Chicago's not in the top 10 with over 400 murders. But they must be using some statistics that really don't reflect the reality on the street." Forbes ranked U.S. cities with a population over 200,000 according to their violent crime rate. Though top officials question the statistic, resident Pamela Miszko says she's not surprised by Buffalo's ranking. "There's a lot of crime around here, and instead of giving tickets to people, go where the crime is," Miszko said. And Melinda Morlock thinks patrols could be better utilized. "They're not where they should be," she contends. "Where I think, and I come down. I used to come down a lot more. But they're not where the dangerous hot spots are." But Murray Holman, Executive Director of the Stop the Violence Coalition, doesn't think high ranking reflects the reality on the streets. "I don't see it. I don't see the numbers like that. BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - When it comes to crime, the Queen City is among some of the most volatile urban areas in the United States, according to Forbes.
Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda has a message for people living in and visiting the City of Good Neighbors:
"I want them to know that Buffalo is a safe city. They should come down, enjoy themselves, and feel safe," he assured.
On Forbes Magazine's list of America's most dangerous cities, Buffalo ranked 10th. Detroit was first.

"The perception is not good," Derenda acknowledged. "But the reality is violence in the City of Buffalo is down."
The city's top cop says last year, homicides were at a 10-year low, and he points to a 17 percent drop in violent crime since 2005.
Common Council President Richard Fontana said, "I have no idea why Chicago's not in the top 10 with over 400 murders. But they must be using some statistics that really don't reflect the reality on the street."
Forbes ranked U.S. cities with a population over 200,000 according to their violent crime rate. Though top officials question the statistic, resident Pamela Miszko says she's not surprised by Buffalo's ranking.
"There's a lot of crime around here, and instead of giving tickets to people, go where the crime is," Miszko said.
And Melinda Morlock thinks patrols could be better utilized.
"They're not where they should be," she contends. "Where I think, and I come down. I used to come down a lot more. But they're not where the dangerous hot spots are."
But Murray Holman, Executive Director of the Stop the Violence Coalition, doesn't think high ranking reflects the reality on the streets.
"I don't see it. I don't see the numbers like that. We do tremendous work in the city. For us to be number 10, they got to be getting their numbers wrong some kind of way," Holman said.

An estimated 28.7–29.9% of Buffalo residents live below the poverty line, behind either only Detroit,[59] or only Detroit and Cleveland.[60] Buffalo's median household income of $27,850 is third-lowest among large cities, behind only Miami and Cleveland; however the metropolitan area's median household income is $57,000.[61] This, in part, has led to the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area having the most affordable housing market in the U.S. The quarterly NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index (HOI) noted nearly 90% of the new and existing homes sold in the metropolitan area during the second quarter were affordable to families making the area's median income of $57,000.[citation needed] As of 2014, the median home price in the city was $95,000.[62]

The NHL's Buffalo Sabres play in the City of Buffalo, and the NFL's Buffalo Bills play in suburban Orchard Park, New York. Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface.
And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Manhattan Island is the city’s most well known district and the Rockefeller Center in Midtown is often referred to as the heart of the New York. Nearby the Roman Catholic Saint Patrick´s Cathedral is the largest and most magnificent church in the United States. The Grand Central Terminal divides Park Avenue and is a huge station with which the railroad kings, the Venderbilts, left an indelible mark. The huge hall, with its magnificent vaulted ceiling in Beaux Arts style, has been the city’s central railway station for twelve lines since 1913. The confines of Chinatown are inhabited by a hundred and fifty thousand Chinese from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, most of whom are unable to speak a word of English. Chinese characters wherever one looks and restaurants and Asian stores on every street corner. The famous Wall Street was named after a wall which in the early days protected the growing city against attack by Native American Indians. However, the roots of its subsequent claim to fame were laid in 1792. The young state desperately needed investment and therefore the powers that be decided to issue bonds. Close by, on a small island, is New York’s most famous landmark, the Statue Of Liberty. The head of Lady Liberty leads to the crown from which there are stunning views from several windows. New York City is most certainly unique. A city that’s very much alive and kicking, self-confident and always a surprise!

Here are some Things to do in NYC :) This 1st of a "Things to do in NYC" is the BASICS. I will do more in depth videos on neighborhoods like Harlem, Brooklyn, Lower East Side which will include shopping, entertainment, eating, all that :) But for now I hope you find this helpful and excited about exploring NYC. I didn't "forget" to list anything. This is just the first video and trust their are a million things to do. Sorry for not including Brooklyn. I rarely go out there and didn't have footage to include in this video. But here goes!

Patricia Field is a NYC fashion fixture! Made famous for her costume designing in The Devil Wears Prada and Sex and the City: the Movie and sequel, her boutique is another MUST. I love playing dressup here and splurging on accessories!

Need to get around? Rent a bike! I have yet to try this but it seems fabulous! Save your feet and cover more ground. These bikes and bike spots are all over the city. A perfect way to burn calories and see more of the city faster.

Caracas! This happens to be a fav spot of mine! It's uber small and the lines can be long but I love the food. Yes it's fried and oh so good! I've never had an Arepa until I came here and the prices are perfect for us budget minded peeps Try it! just read their yelp reviews!

Summer in NYC isn't really summer until you get your butt on a rooftop. My pick was Jimmy Rooftop. Sunday's after 3pm are bomb! Amazing music courtesy of DJ Cato. I believe it is doorman discretion, which means, dress your best and don't travel with a bunch of dudes. You get an amazing view of the sun setting over the Hudson River and you get to splash around in the pool if you so choose. I chose this spot because I used to work here and loved it!

Yes! Go to Church! After you party it up Saturday night or Sunday afternoon bring your sinful behind to this awesome church! You don't have to be religious to attend. This is a non-denominal church and people from all over the world come here for the amazing sermons and not to mention the interior. This Church is a converted theatre and a must see. Now go and pray!

It was a stroke of fate that this collaboration came together with my dear friend, Amber! After living in NYC for the last few years, her cute little family is moving out of state this week. So I was so lucky to catch her right before her big move! It was a crazy time for me, with the launch of Somewhere Devine, and a brand new baby in tote — and also for Amber with her move, and launching her new product Barefoot Blonde Hair! But it all came together, and it was seriously so fun. This was the first time that Brad and I had traveled to the same city to work on different projects, let alone the first project that I put on myself with a newborn baby! Ha! Greta was no problem at all, she just snoozed the whole time. The real problem was the STROLLER! Uhg! I don’t know how you city mama’s do it! I take my hat off to you! Anyway… It was so awesome to hang out with Amber, and get a glimpse of a local’s perspective on the big city! We took bikes around Central Park, and I was seriously struggling to catch up with her! Hahah! It was my first time ‘working out’ post-baby, and my legs felt like JELLO. Oh man. Such a reality check!

We were on a mission to find the best things to do in Buffalo, NY and were really surprised at all the thing you can do! Buffalo has a ton of culture, ever-present history and some amazing food to eat. We visited Buffalo's Canalside, Riverworks, Larkin Square for Food Truck Tuesday and we even took a kayak tour down the river with Elevator Alley Kayak. Buffalo has a ton of culture, ever-present history and some amazing food to eat. We visited Buffalo's Canalside, Riverworks, Larkin Square for Food Truck Tuesday and we even took a kayak tour down the river with Elevator Alley Kayak. In the end we were amazed that there were so many fun things to do in Buffalo and know we'll be back to experience more of the city soon.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - When it comes to crime, the Queen City is among some of the most volatile urban areas in the United States, according to Forbes.
Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda has a message for people living in and visiting the City of Good Neighbors:
"I want them to know that Buffalo is a safe city. They should come down, enjoy themselves, and feel safe," he assured.
On Forbes Magazine's list of America's most dangerous cities, Buffalo ranked 10th. Detroit was first.

"The perception is not good," Derenda acknowledged. "But the reality is violence in the City of Buffalo is down."
The city's top cop says last year, homicides were at a 10-year low, and he points to a 17 percent drop in violent crime since 2005.
Common Council President Richard Fontana said, "I have no idea why Chicago's not in the top 10 with over 400 murders. But they must be using some statistics that really don't reflect the reality on the street."
Forbes ranked U.S. cities with a population over 200,000 according to their violent crime rate. Though top officials question the statistic, resident Pamela Miszko says she's not surprised by Buffalo's ranking.
"There's a lot of crime around here, and instead of giving tickets to people, go where the crime is," Miszko said.
And Melinda Morlock thinks patrols could be better utilized.
"They're not where they should be," she contends. "Where I think, and I come down. I used to come down a lot more. But they're not where the dangerous hot spots are."
But Murray Holman, Executive Director of the Stop the Violence Coalition, doesn't think high ranking reflects the reality on the streets.
"I don't see it. I don't see the numbers like that. We do tremendous work in the city. For us to be number 10, they got to be getting their numbers wrong some kind of way," Holman said.
