Longtime senators John McCain and Dick Durbin duel it out old school on the Senate floor regarding the debt ceiling.
The Senate continued work on the Keystone XL Pipeline bill on Thursday, voting on 10 amendments. After finishing the votes on those amendments in the evening, another dozen were offered, six Republican and six Democratic. Majority Leader McConnell wanted to vote Thursday night on those pending amendments, Assistant Minority Leader Durbin asked that the votes occur on Friday as Democrats wanted more time to consider the content of the amendments. Sen. McConnell resisted and moved to table each of the pending Democratic amendments. After successfully tabling 5 of 6 Democratic amendments Sen. McConnell offered a unanimous consent agreement to vote on the six GOP amendments and one remaining Democratic amendment on Friday. Clearly irritated by this maneuver Democrats objected. In the end...
George Galloway V US senate, probably the most prolific clip EVER in the history of left WING politics.
The Senate originally met, virtually in secret, on the second floor of Federal Hall in New York City in a room that allowed no spectators. For five years, no notes were published on Senate proceedings. A procedural issue of the early Senate was what role the vice president, the President of the Senate, should have. The first vice president was allowed to craft legislation and participate in debates, but those rights were taken away relatively quickly. John Adams seldom missed a session, but later vice presidents made Senate attendance a rarity. Interestingly, although the founders intended the Senate to be the slower legislative body, in the early years of the Republic, it was the House that took its time passing legislation. Alexander Hamilton’s Bank of the United States and Assumption B...
British MP Galloway, falsely accused of taking bribes from Saddam Hussein, tears the US Senate a new one in this exhilarating MSNBC clip that grows more apropos every day.

Barbara Boxer, who has served California since 1992. The live televised debate took place at 6 p.m. Monday, April 25, on Pacific's Stockton Campus.
Once a great deliberative body, the Senate is now known for deadlock, dysfunction and political games. Will Tuesday's election help? Steve Kroft reports.

US Senator Rand Paul tables a resolution to block F-16 sale to Pakistan in the US Senate. Senators Rand Paul, Christopher Murphy and Mark Warner make a strong pitch to stop the sale and severely criticize Pakistan's tacit support for terrorism. Even those who supported the sale were vexed with Pakistan's behaviour. The motion is ultimately defeated 71-24, which means Pakistan would get 8 F-16 fighter jets. Discussion is full but I edited out long silent parts where each senator votes one after another. A committee report on alleged abuses of the program had named Minister Galloway as one of several foreign officials who had received lucrative oil allocations in the scheme. Mr. Galloway harshly criticized the report and challenged members to produce evidence of the allegations. He also broadly criticized U.S. policy in Iraq and the decision to use military power to oust the Hussein government. This is not a complete record of the hearing, but contains Mr. Galloway's opening statement in its entirety. Transcript Text: h...

Tired eyes
Closed for days
There's no regret
'Cause there's no place
I don't know
What I believe
But if I feel safe
What do I need
A home
A home
A home
Revolution
Revolution
Revolution blues
What will they do
Revolution
Revolution
Revolution blues
What will they do to me
What will they do to me
What will they do to me
What will they do to me
Dulcet tongues
Whisper fast
The future yearns
Right now's the past
Rouse me soon
The end draws nigh
Who's side are you on
Your blood you cannot buy
Revolution
Revolution
Revolution blues
What will they do
Revolution
Revolution
Revolution blues
What will they do to you
Well I
I feel alright
So tonight
I got to ask you why
Why deny it
It's no surprise
I've got to survive
Freedom shines the light ahead
I'll lead the last charge to bed
I said my last rights
I don't have to run scared no more
Fight
I wanna fight
I wanna fight a revolution
Tonight
I wanna fight
I wanna fight a revolution
Tonight
At the light
At the light
Do you wanna watch me die
Let me be something good
Let me prove something real like I should
Let me embrace every single living thing
