(English below) Vemia, Aalto Yliopiston uusi mediatuotannon kerho yritti napata Vapun maagisuuden filmille. Aftermoviessa nähdään mm. Mantan lakitus ja tietenkin Ullanlinnanmäen meininkiä! So what are the Vappu traditions of "KY", the Association of Economics Students in Helsinki? 0:00 30th of April, Economics students gather in front of our beloved "KY Building" around noon to eat, drink, listen to music and have fun 0:17 The board and secretaries of KY have breakfast on the roof, right under the giant KY letters 0:29 We close the street to fit more people 0:35 during Vappu Finnish people blow a special kind of confetti "Serpentiini" 0:38 Girls posing with the huge hat we will put on the statue Havis Amanda 0:46 We hang the giant "Wappu" letters on the house. Even though Labour Day is called Vappu in Finnish, students often spell it Wappu. 0:47 This year's main show was Kyntelligens, with the Kyppendales doing back-up dancing 1:17 Our very own big band Boston Promenade also performs inside the KY Building 1:59 We start the parade towards the statue of Havis Amanda, the protector of university students 2:30 All students have a party uniform: the overalls. Each faculty has their own colour and we attach badges from all the events we attend. KY student's colour is dollar green! 2:36 Helsinki's students take turns washing and crowning Havis Amanda (or Manta as we call her). This year in turn was AYY, the Student Union of Aalto University. 2:37 We got some help for washing from the "Voluntary firebrigade" Retuperän WBK. 2:46 AYY brought the hat with a drone! 2:50 The Crowning of Havis Amanda is one of the biggest events of Helsinki, with 80 000 people. 3:04 In addition to the overalls, we put on our high school graduation caps with Havis Amanda during Vappu. 3:15 Havis Amanda gets her graduation cap too! 3:26 The cultural subcommittee jumps in to the Havis Amanda fountain 4:26 During 1st of May, students, alumni and families of Helsinki gather in Ullanlinnanmäki of Kaivopuisto with tents and even real furniture 4:38 YL Male Voice Choir (Ylioppilaskunnan Laulajat) performs on Ullanlinnanmäki 4:43 It's a huge picnic day, with people bringing food, tents and even Saunas on to Ullanlinnanmäki.
