An epistle (/ᵻˈpɪsəl/; Greek ἐπιστολή, epistolē, "letter") is a writing directed or sent to a person or group of people, usually an elegant and formal didactic letter. The epistle genre of letter-writing was common in ancient Egypt as part of the scribal-school writing curriculum. The letters in the New Testament from Apostles to Christians are usually referred to as epistles. Those traditionally attributed to Paul are known as Pauline epistles and the others as catholic (i.e., "general") epistles.
The ancient Egyptians wrote epistles, most often for pedagogical reasons. Egyptologist Edward Wente (1990) speculates that the Fifth-dynasty Pharaoh Djedkare Isesi—in his many letters sent to his viziers—was a pioneer in the epistolary genre. Its existence is firmly attested during the Sixth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, and is prominently featured in the educational guide The Book of Kemit written during the Eleventh Dynasty. A standardized formulae for epistolary compositions existed by the time of the Middle Kingdom of Egypt. The epistolary formulae used in the Ramesside Period found its roots in the letters composed during the Amarna Period of the Twentieth Dynasty. Wente describes the "Satirical Letter" found on the Papyrus Anastasi I of the Nineteenth Dynasty as an epistle which was commonly copied as a writing exercise by Egyptian schoolchildren on ceramic ostraca (over eighty examples of which have been found so far by archaeologists). Epistle letters were also written to the dead, and, by the Ramesside Period, to the gods; the latter became even more widespread during the eras of Persian and Greek domination.
The New Testament (Koine Greek: Ἡ Καινὴ Διαθήκη,Hē Kainḕ Diathḗkē) is the second major part of the Christian biblical canon, the first part being the Old Testament, based on the Hebrew Bible. The Greek New Testament discusses the teachings and person of Jesus, as well as events in first-century Christianity. Christians regard both the Old and New Testaments together as sacred scripture. The New Testament (in whole or in part) has frequently accompanied the spread of Christianity around the world. It reflects and serves as a source for Christian theology and morality. Both extended readings and phrases directly from the New Testament are also incorporated (along with readings from the Old Testament) into the various Christian liturgies. The New Testament has influenced religious, philosophical, and political movements in Christendom, and left an indelible mark on literature, art, and music.
The New Testament is an anthology, a collection of Christian works written in the common Greek language of the first century, at different times by various writers, who were early Jewish disciples of Jesus. In almost all Christian traditions today, the New Testament consists of 27 books. The original texts were written in the first and perhaps the second centuries of the Christian Era, generally believed to be in Koine Greek, which was the common language of the Eastern Mediterranean from the Conquests of Alexander the Great (335–323 BC) until the evolution of Byzantine Greeks (c. 600). All the works that eventually became incorporated into the New Testament seem to have been written no later than around 150 AD, and some scholars would date them all to no later than 70 AD or 80 AD.
Daniel Chester French (April 20, 1850 – October 7, 1931), one of the most prolific and acclaimed American sculptors of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, is best known for his design of the monumental work, the statue of Abraham Lincoln (1920) in the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D.C..
French was born in Exeter, New Hampshire, to Henry Flagg French (1813–1885), a lawyer, judge, Assistant US Treasury Secretary and author of a book that described the French drain, and his wife Anne Richardson. In 1867, French moved with his family to Concord, Massachusetts, where he was a neighbor and friend of Ralph Waldo Emerson, and the Alcott family. His decision to pursue sculpting was influenced by Louisa May Alcott's sister May Alcott.
French's early education included training in anatomy with William Rimmer and in drawing with William Morris Hunt. French spent a year studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and also several years in Florence, Italy studying in the studio of Thomas Ball. French first earned acclaim for the Minute Man, commissioned by the town of Concord, Massachusetts, which was unveiled April 19, 1875, on the centenary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. He soon established his own studio, first in Washington DC, moving later to Boston and then to New York City. French's reputation grew with his Statue of the Republic for the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893, in Chicago. Other memorable works by French include: the First Division Monument and the Butt-Millet Memorial Fountain in Washington; John Harvard, Cambridge, Massachusetts; bronze doors for the Boston Public Library; and The Four Continents at the US Custom House, New York (now the Alexander Hamilton US Custom House). In addition to the Lincoln Memorial, French collaborated with architect Henry Bacon on numerous memorials around the country and on the Dupont Circle fountain in Washington DC.

A Liar's Autobiography, Volume VI is a comical autobiography written by Graham Chapman of Monty Python fame, featuring a fictionalised account of his life. First published in Britain in 1980, it was republished in 1991, 1999 and 2011.
Unusually for an autobiography, the work is credited inside to five authors: Chapman, his partner David Sherlock, Alex Martin, Douglas Adams, and David A. Yallop. Adams' sole contribution was in the form of a sketch written by himself and Chapman for the television pilot Out of the Trees, which was rewritten for the book in the first person and passed off as a real event. It is not known how much material the other writers contributed. The book was re-released in 1991 with an afterword by Eric Idle, which has been included in all subsequent releases.
A semi-sequel, Calcium Made Interesting, was released in 2005.
In June 2011, it was announced that Bill and Ben Productions was making an animated 3D movie based on the memoir. The full title is A Liar's Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman. Although not a Monty Python movie, all but one of the remaining Pythons are involved in the project. Asked what was true in a deliberately fanciful account by Chapman of his life, Terry Jones joked: "Nothing… it’s all a downright, absolute, blackguardly lie."

The First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians audiobook Pope CLEMENT I ( - ) http://free-audio-books.info/christianity/the-first-epistle-of-clement-to-the-corinthians-audiobook/ "First Clement is one of the oldest Christian documents outside the New Testament canon. The epistle was written by Clement, one of the elders of the church of Rome, to the church in Corinth, where it was read for centuries. Indeed, historians generally hold First Clement to be an authentic document dating from the first century. From the fifth century to the eighth century, many of the eastern churches accepted the First Epistle of Clement as canonical scripture as it is clearly listed among the canonical books of the New Testament in "Canon 85" of the Canons of the Apostles. However, by the end of the eighth ce...

This is a section of the stereoscopic animated feature film 'A Liar's Autobiography', the untrue story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman. Beakus animated over ten minutes of the film, and this section was designed by guest director Daniel Chester. It's a strongly comic aside during the film, where Paul the Apostle writes a letter about morality, correcting some of the New Testament in relation to New Zealand... Rude, crude, and bonkers, the animation is beautifully, energetically hand-drawn. The film itself is out on DVD and Blu-ray 18th February 2013. "They Loved the Torah Part I" Did Yeshua observe the Law? Did Paul teach his congregations to abandon the Torah? Was the devout Jew, Peter, persuaded that the Commandments were cancelled? The answers you'll find in this message may surprise you! Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries in Tacoma, Washington USA shares profound insights and revelations from the word of God. He ties together the person and revelations of Jesus (Yeshua was his Hebrew name) thoughout what is known as the Old and New Testament.
Feast of Shabbat 4/4/2011 Pastor Mark Biltz Shabbat is a critically important torah picture telling us the Good News is we don’t work to earn our salvation it’s a free gift. The Sabbath is the gospel message. When we don’t keep the Sabbath we are denying the good news! Isaiah 58:10 "If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday. The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The...
YESHUA, THE LIVING TORAH Pastor Mark Biltz Session 6 John 1:14 And the Word(Torah) became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth. We are instructed to do what Jesus did. What did He do? What did Messiah think of the Torah(His Word), the Land of Israel and Jerusalem(His throne), and the Jewish people(His relatives)? Did He believe in His own everlasting promises regarding the Land of Israel and the people of Israel? Did Yeshua agree with His mission for the Jewish people that they would be a light to the nations in reaching the world with His Torah – instruction? Is the Torah the word of God? Torah equals instruction The first thing satan did was make Adam and Eve question God’s orah/instruction. Was tha...
The Separation of Church and Faith - Part II by Pastor Mark Biltz Reference: Copernicus and the Jews – Daniel Gruber Copernicus - February 19, 1473 – May 24, 1543 Deuteronomy 27:9 And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God. Deuteronomy 32:8-10 When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. Numbers 16:3 And they gathered thems...
Rejoicing in Our Heritage Pastor Mark Biltz 6/20/2011 Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: In Deuteronomy 30 there are 3 prophetic returns for the Jewish people: Returning to the LORD, Returning to the Land, and a Returning to the Covenant Acts 3:19-21 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restituti...
Connecting the Covenants Pastor Mark Biltz Romans 9:3-5 "For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Messiah for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh, who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Messiah came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen." We need to understand the relationship with God is always based on covenant. Let’s look at: • The torah as covenant • Historical backdrop of covenants • Connection of biblical covenants with other Ancient Covenants • Connection in establishing our biblical foundations
In the searchin' eyes of someone's daughter,
There's a hope that maybe things'll change.
Peace on earth will come and find us waiting,
Unless, somehow, we've wandered out of range.
Of salvation, mmmm.
And to the church in Baltimore, a question:
What have you done to ease the pain of man?
I've heard you've given comfort to some sinners,
But I'm afraid you just don't understand.
To an orphan child dyin' of hunger,
God is just a half a loaf of bread.
Rise up from your hundred dollar table,
Make sure your paroquet is fed.
And don't forget to save a dime for Jesus.
Don't forget who sent 'em all to war.
Take a pill to ease the call of conscience,
It's just a dream, it really can't be more.
An' to your marchin' men in blue or silver,
Everyone for peace is just a lousy red.
You just can't seem to figure out the reason:
The answer lies in what the shepherd said.
He said: "I'll choose you one out of a thousand.
"Only two out of ten thousand more.
"And you shall stand as one again,
"On the sacred shores of the promise."
Instrumental break.
I am the sea an' you're a ragin' river.
You are the sun, I'm a crystal fountain.
Flowin' in the growin' love of livin'.
Spirit guide us to the Holy mountain.
Spirit guide us to the Holy mountain.
I am you an' you are me an' all together, we are three,
Shinin' in the night-time of our bein'.
An' just in case our fathers have forgotten,
Maybe we should help them understand.
And to the church in Baltimore, a question:
What have you done to ease the pain of man?
