Candle Powered Heater DIY Space Heater. Clay/Terracotta pots absorb the thermal energy of the candles and convert it into radiant space heat. Reaches temperatures of 160F to 180F. Heater stays hot for hours. use caution, the inner chamber can reach 500F. heats a small area very effectively. uses 1 to 3 candles or more. could also use small alcohol lamps instead of the candles. of note: heater works by trapping and concentrating the heat that would normally just rise to the ceiling and quickly dissipate in the surrounding air. once pots have warmed up they stay hot for hours. I built both 2 and 3 pot heaters. the 2 pot heater seems much more effective (if you are using large thick pots). if the pots are smaller then 3 pots may be better.

Candle Powered Heater! (Improved!!) DIY Radiant Space heater! (with fan!!). Easy DIY. Produces 170F+ Temps. Since about half of all the heat from a clay pot heater is typically concentrated at the top of the heater, it just quickly rises straight to the ceiling and is "in effect" lost (or at least "not felt"). this new design attempts to tackle that problem by directing the hot air where you want it (in your personal living space, not at the ceiling). in this new design a vent tube and fan combination is used to trap all of the heat not radiated outward from the sides of the pot and directs that heat into the living space!. fan is a standard 80mm computer case fan (handles the heat fine). the bolts are 2" long (5/16 hex bolts) *not 2 1/2" as stated in video although 2 1/2" or 3" ones should work fine. vent tube used is 5" but buy the right size to fit the flower pot you have.

- TIME: It takes about and hour to make a noticeable difference on overall room temperature. But sitting next to it makes a huge difference. e.g. if you're working at your desk, sit it next to you
- MODIFICATIONS: The version shown in the video doesn't have any holes in the the top for the warm air to escape like many others on shown Youtube do. I have tried both configurations and my conclusion is that both options work well, but have slightly different applications
-- No holes version gets hotter and therefore is better if you are sitting next to it as you get more radiant heat
-- With holes version lets some of the hot air escape out the top and therefore fills the room with hot air, and is thus better for heating a larger area.

How to make a water heater with big plastic (PET) bottles. Inside each bottle there is a 3.5 meteres piece of 4 mm drip watering tubing. This heater takes advantage of the greenhouse effect inside the bottles. It is like the heat inside a car in the sun in summer. Since when the circuit is stopped the water heats more inside the tubing it woul be a good idea to use a timer with i. e. 1 minute ON and 1 minute OFF. This also would protect the pump motor from excessive heating. With a small water pump the water is cycled and the temperature rises. It would be better to use a 12 volt DC motor water pump connected to several solar cells. You can also try to paste a sheet of aluminum foil in order to concentrate more heat inside the bottles. The solar water heater is scalable, so you can connect more bottles and groups of bottles in order to heat a swimming pool.

How to make a water heater with big plastic (PET) bottles. Inside each bottle there is a 3.5 meteres piece of 4 mm drip watering tubing. This heater takes advantage of the greenhouse effect inside the bottles. It is like the heat inside a car in the sun in summer. Since when the circuit is stopped the water heats more inside the tubing it woul be a good idea to use a timer with i. e. 1 minute ON and 1 minute OFF. This also would protect the pump motor from excessive heating. With a small water pump the water is cycled and the temperature rises. Candle Powered Heater DIY Space Heater. Clay/Terracotta pots absorb the thermal energy of the candles and convert it into radiant space heat. Reaches temperatures of 160F to 180F. Heater stays hot for hours. use caution, the inner chamber can reach 500F. heats a small area very effectively. uses 1 to 3 candles or more. could also use small alcohol lamps instead of the candles. of note: heater works by trapping and concentrating the heat that would normally just rise to the ceiling and quickly dissipate in the surrounding air. once pots have warmed up they stay hot for hours. I built both 2 and 3 pot heaters. the 2 pot heater seems much more effective (if you are using large thick pots). if the pots are smaller then 3 pots may be better.

Since about half of all the heat from a clay pot heater is typically concentrated at the top of the heater, it just quickly rises straight to the ceiling and is "in effect" lost (or at least "not felt"). this new design attempts to tackle that problem by directing the hot air where you want it (in your personal living space, not at the ceiling). in this new design a vent tube and fan combination is used to trap all of the heat not radiated outward from the sides of the pot and directs that heat into the living space!. fan is a standard 80mm computer case fan (handles the heat fine). the bolts are 2" long (5/16 hex bolts) *not 2 1/2" as stated in video although 2 1/2" or 3" ones should work fine. vent tube used is 5" but buy the right size to fit the flower pot you have.

How to make a water heater with big plastic (PET) bottles. Inside each bottle there is a 3.5 meteres piece of 4 mm drip watering tubing.
This heater takes advantage of the greenhouse effect inside the bottles. It is like the heat inside a car in the sun in summer.
Since when the circuit is stopped the water heats more inside the tubing it woul be a good idea to use a timer with i. e. 1 minute ON and 1 minute OFF. This also would protect the pump motor from excessive heating.
With a small water pump the water is cycled and the temperature rises.
It would be better to use a 12 volt DC motor water pump connected to several solar cells.
You can also try to paste a sheet of aluminum foil in order to concentrate more heat inside the bottles.
The solar water heater is scalable, so you can connect more bottles and groups of bottles in order to heat a swimming pool.

The one I used had a bolt through it which acted like a radiator, however, the danger exists with the tea lights being too close in a very hot environment.

The only thing to remember is these requite quite a bit of ventilation, its like running a diesel engine in your garage, and also, you cant paint or use flammable aerosols or other such substances while its running and/or hot.... USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK

Although the device is efficient, in most all water heating applications it is difficult to economically justify a device. The company has moved towards the mixing and reaction chemistry applications and specialized heating applications. The system can heat water, but there are numerous competing technologies that can heat water and make steam that are much less capital intensive and often cheaper to operate, as electricity is an expensive and highly refined fuel when compared to gas, coal or oil. Because of this we ceased marketing home/residential heating systems and generic steam systems. Our core heating applications are now applications where:
A fluid scales rapidly on a heat transfer surface
Safety/operational concerns demand a flameless system for safety
Total automation is needed and not available with conventional technology
Our heating applications are largely niche applications where conventional technology falls short. Examples of heating applications well suited to the device include:
Heating of food products such as cheese, eggs and chocolate

Although the device is efficient, in most all water heating applications it is difficult to economically justify a device. The company has moved towards the mixing and reaction chemistry applications and specialized heating applications. The system can heat water, but there are numerous competing technologies that can heat water and make steam that are much less capital intensive and often cheaper to operate, as electricity is an expensive and highly refined fuel when compared to gas, coal or oil. Because of this we ceased marketing home/residential heating systems and generic steam systems. Our core heating applications are now applications where:
A fluid scales rapidly on a heat transfer surface
Safety/operational concerns demand a flameless system for safety
Total automation is needed and not available with conventional technology
Our heating applications are largely niche applications where conventional technology falls short. Examples of heating applications well suited to the device include:
Heating of food products such as cheese, eggs and chocolate
Heating chemical and polymeric streams
Heating industrial brines and heavy salt solutions

If you're replacing a single wire ignitor with one of these 2 spark plug lead wires units; ONE lead will hook to the existing spark plug and the other lead will ground out to the frame or housing that makes electrical contact with the outside(threads) of the spark plug. You can flatten out the end and put a screw in it or something similar.
