Space Ace (宇宙エース, Uchū Ēsu) is a Japanese science fiction manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuo Yoshida and serialized in Shueisha's Shōnen Book magazine from June 1964 to May 1966. It was adapted into an anime television series by Tatsunoko Production and aired on Fuji TV from May 8, 1965 to April 28, 1966.
Space Ace is an alien young boy given to homesick stargazing with the faces of his loved ones ghosted across the heavens. Ace’s tool of preference is the galaxy ring, a flat white hoop he could produce from his fingers to be thrown or ride on.
The supporting cast includes Dr. Tatsunoko, who is almost a father figure to Ace, and his daughter Asari, Ace’s love interest. Providing the show's comedy relief was crusading investigative reporter Flash Scoop, who usually burst on the scene riding his jet skycycle at the worst possible moment, screaming for Ace to give him interviews and so on.
One of the show's most important characters is "Ebo", Ace’s imagined projection into the night sky depicted as a humanoid robot.

Plot: Video games were exploding in popularity in the 1980s. Characters from several of the more popular games were featured in "Saturday Supercade," a weekly cartoon series perhaps most notable for being Donkey Kong's first starring appearance in a cartoon series. The famous gorilla starred in his own segment, this time as a well-meaning but slow-witted (and sometimes easily manipulated) gorilla who had escaped the circus; his trainer, Mario, and then-girlfriend Pauline (of whom Donkey Kong had a huge crush), tried to capture the large ape. Other segments included "Donkey Kong Jr.," the famous gorilla's young son who was aided in his search by his human friend, Bones; "Frogger," about an investigative amphibious reporter for the Swamp Gazette; "Pitfall," featuring the adventures of Pitfall Harry, his pet mountain lion Quickclaw and his niece Rhonda as they traveled through the forest in search of treasure; and "Q*Bert," about the misadventures of a teen-aged orange creature. The latter two segments were shown on alternate weeks during the first season. During the show's second season, only "Donkey Kong" and "Q*Bert" returned. Two new segments included "Kangaroo," about a young mother kangaroo and her son, Joey, who were constantly harassed by a quartet of mischievous monkeys; and "Space Ace," a teen-ager who fought aliens plotting to invade Earth.

Like Dragon's Lair, the gameplay of Space Ace requires the player to move the joystick in the right direction or press the fire button at the right moment to avoid the various hazards Dexter/Ace faces. Space Ace introduced a few gameplay enhancements, most notably selectable skill levels and multiple paths through several of the scenes. At the start of the game the player could select one of three skill levels; "Cadet", "Captain" or "Ace" for easy, medium and hard respectively - only by choosing the toughest skill level could the player see all the sequences in the game (only around half the scenes are played on the easiest setting). I was glued to this game when it came out in the mid 80's, even more so than Dragon's Lair, another landmark experimental arcade classic. The music and sound effects are unforgettable as are the memories of growing up with and around the 80's...
Don Bluth was making games full of terrible quicktime events before it was cool.

http://www.longplays.org Played by: Mad-Matt This version of the game was fabricated from pure evil and cruelty by its developers! The is quite long and you start of with a sackful of lives, but there are no checkpoints in the game. So when you are hit or misjudge a jump, its back to the start of the level. Ok, most games are like that its called a challenge.... Where this game turns it up a notch is that you need to get 'ACE' rating on every level. This is made of other stats on how well you did in the level. Not 'Energizing' will give a bad rating and will take you on an easier path through the level. Style Rating is the most annoying as it is based on how fast you kill things. Too fast and you lower the rating so the game is not about killing everything you see, but to take you...
For Spanish viewers, here's a commented version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vEkxFnfzO4 So, after not uploading anything for a while, I decided to upload this. Thanks to Maskaman for the recommendation of this game! I really enjoyed it. Also, thanks to amogirl, for the great TAS run. Sadly, Space Ace for the SNES is considered one of the worst SNES games. Why? Well, it must be because it's 'way too difficult' for some, but I'm not entirely sure. For me, this is a masterpiece, and I mean it. No randomness at all: just memory and skill. This is the kind of game that I love. I hate randomness. The only exception is when it is well designed (that is, no matter the result of random elements, you'll always win if you have the right strategy). Anyway... I'll talk about the game in general...

This is an underrated game and there's a reason for that. The game is really hard to the point where attempting to beat the game on the Super Nintendo console seems impossible. The best way to play it is to use an emulator. I use to have this game back then and I enjoyed it, even though we never beaten it. I remember coming home from school and I will turn this game on and play the fun first stage and whatever stage that I managed to find in the space maze. The stages are not that hard if you memorize it. I can beat many of the stages from start to finish without saving within them. Especially the first stage, which people claim to be difficult. No tool assist was used in this playthrough. The game was played with my skill and many save stats was used because save stats and movie rewinds w...
Disclaimer before we start, Don Bluth/Dragon's Lair LLC I believe own the copyright to Space Ace, designed in 1983 and released for the arcade in 1984 and then later for numerous over media like the Amiga and 3DO. Storytime!: "The villainous Commander Borf with the help of his "Infanto Ray" wishes to enslave humanity and the hero of the story, the muscle-bound Ace goes to prevent this but is hit by the beam weapon, reducing him to an adolescent version of himself. Borf then proceeds to kidnap Ace's girlfriend, Kimberley. Dexter, Ace's younger self must rescue his girlfriend, regain his manhood and save the world!" This is not going to be a serious or very involving LP, this is me, finding Space Ace had been released on Steam and after a bout of memories coming back deciding to grab my...

Have you ever been locked in a spaceship?
Lost in the sky
Flying high above highways
Still trapped in the sky
I know the meaning of success
Whoa, but you gotta believe
Evil has a way of showing its fine face
Still you gotta believe
Time has a way of standing still for you
Only to go up to fall down
[Verse]
Have you ever been locked in a spaceship?
And lost in your lies
Flying high above the highways
Still trapped in the skies
I know the meaning of success
Oh, but you got to believe
Evil has a way of showing its face
Oh, but you got to believe
[Guitar Solo]
So, you fly into the darkness
Using the stars for your lights
And you finally found your planet
Time to set things right
[Verse]
Have you ever been locked in a spaceship?
And trapped in a lie
But the beauty is the truth
You can look in your eyes
