2013 Yesler Terrace Youth Media documentary film about Relocating The Residents.
The Summer Youth Media Program at Yesler Terrace Learning Center creates a venue where teens discover their expressive voice through photography and video as a means to examine the history of Yesler Terrace, the diversity within their community, and the potential impact of the YT redevelopment project. In doing so, the program will promote civic engagement and build community connections.
During this intensive six-week program students will learn both digital and analog photography, video production, writing skills and research techniques. Students will also study documentary and journalistic practices.
The resulting images, text and videos will be published, exhibited, and broadcast during the workshop.
This program is created in collaboration with the following organizations:

It sits on public land with amazing views of the Puget Sound and is close to downtown as well as hospitals. It is about to be severely gentrified. In other words, all the low-income units will be torn down, expensive high rise condos will take their place, and it will take approximately 15 -20 years for the original residents to be moved back into their re-built units at Yesler Terrace.
