A tribute to the life & career of actor Ralph Meeker.
A talented actor of stage & screen,Meeker was also an accomplished musician (piano,cornet,drums,accordion & a graduate of Northwestern Univeristy as a music major)
Beginning his career on stage,Meeker replaced Brando in the role of Stanley Kowalski in ''A Street Car Named Desire'' in 1947,with some crirics proclaiming his performance as more in keeping with Tennessee Williams vision of Stanley.He then won the New York Critics Circle Award for his performance in ''Picnic'' in 1953.
Best known today for his defining role of Mike Hammer in the classic film ''Kiss Me Deadly'' (1955),his other memorable roles included that of the doomed soldier in Kubricks ''Paths of Glory'' (1957),the menacing stranger in 'Jeopardy'' (1953) and he was directed by Hitchcock in the first episode of the TV series ''Alfred Hitchcock Present'' which aired October 1955.

Jeopardy (film)
Jeopardy is a 1953 suspense film noir directed by John Sturges. The black-and-white film stars Barbara Stanwyck and Barry Sullivan as a married couple and Ralph Meeker as an escaped killer. The film was based on a 22-minute radio play, "A Question of Time".
Award-winning cinematographer Victor Milner, in addition to photographing the film, also has a bit part in the movie.
A portion of the film was shot in Pioneertown and features footage of the "cantina" building that now houses the popular hipster music venue known as Pappy & Harriet's.
Plot
Doug and Helen Stilwin (Barry Sullivan and Barbara Stanwyck) along with their son Bobby (Lee Aaker) embark on a vacation into desolate Baja California in Mexico to a remote, deserted fishing spot along the coast that her father used to frequent with his old military buddies. At a roadside barricade heading into the Baja outback, they are inspected by police but are not told about an American killer who has escaped from prison and is at large in the area.

Born 1920 in Minneapolis Ralph Meeker was a supremely talented, highly rated, but grossly under-utilized performer of stage, screen and television. With well over 100 credits to his name, he was able to offer a wide variety of performances from tough private eye Mike Hammer in “Kiss Me Deadly” to the witty romantic lead in “The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown”. Mr. Meeker passed from a heart attack in 1988. This tribute contains only a small sampling of his shining performances. Please enjoy!

Nick Bonelli, quarterback for Mid-State, proves himself an All American in the championship, but his parents die in an auto accident coming to the game. Nick decides to transfer to Sheridan University to pursue his real interest of studying architecture. His decision not to join the football team causes considerable friction for him at his new alma mater, particularly with Howard Carter who sees him as a rival. Romantic interests complicate Nick's life and he must make decisions about his future.
