The Ron Clark Academy is a non-profit middle school, housed in a renovated red brick warehouse located in southeast Atlanta, Georgia. The school has students in fifth through eighth grades, from a wide range of economic backgrounds. The mission of the academy is “to deliver the highest quality educational experience where global citizens are born through advanced rigor, engaging teaching methods, and a passionate climate and culture”. Classes began on September 4, 2007.
Teaching includes academics and moral education. The academy seeks to make education fun. Music plays throughout the school, the walls are painted with bright colors, and a two-story slide in the entryway is meant to serve as “a reminder to the kids that anyone can learn in their own way”. Students come from a range of backgrounds. Applicants must first be nominated for the school. In 2013, the students' test scores improved in all subjects: “In Reading, the test scores went up by 19%, in Math they went up by 29%, Language Arts was increased by 15%, Science 15% and Social Studies 20%”.

Clark was educated at East Carolina University through the North Carolina Teaching Fellows program. After graduation, he traveled for a time and then began working in Aurora, North Carolina. The Ron Clark Story (also known as The Triumph in Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Sweden and the Philippines) is a 2006 television film starring Matthew Perry, that premiered on TNT on Sunday, August 13, 2006. Based on the real-life educator Ron Clark (Perry), it centers on a teacher from a small town who moves to New York City to make a difference in the lives of his students. The film was sponsored by Johnson & Johnson.
The film received largely positive reviews, with particular praise going to Perry's portrayal. Additionally, Perry was also nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award and Golden Globe Award.
The Ron Clark Story follows the inspiring tale of an energetic, creative and idealistic young teacher who leaves his small North Carolina hometown to teach in a New York City public school. Through his passionate use of special rules for his classroom, highly innovative teaching techniques and an undying devotion to his students and helping them cope with their problems, Clark is able to make a remarkable difference in the lives of his students. For one young girl trying to attend school while helping to raise her 3 siblings, he offers a chance for her to overcome her situation and become the top student of the class. For a young man with a penchant for graffiti, he offers an ideal outlet for artistic expression. Even when he is almost overcome by pneumonia, Clark continues to work with his students, hoping that he can raise their test scores to an acceptable level, or possibly even higher.

Plot: 1998. Ron Clark, still relatively early in his career, leaves his stable life teaching at an elementary school in his suburban North Carolina hometown, the school where he is appreciated by both his fellow teachers and his students for his innovative teaching methods which results in raising test scores. Instead, he decides to look for a teaching job at a tough New York inner city school where he feels he can be more useful. He eventually finds a job at Inner Harlem Elementary School, where the students are segregated according to their potential. As Clark is white and "nice" looking, Principal Turner wants to assign him to the honors class, especially as Turner's job security depends on good test scores. Clark, however, wants to take the most disadvantaged class. He quickly learns that it will be a battle of wills between himself and his disruptive students to see who can outlast the other. But he also learns that he has to understand them, both individually and collectively, on their level to be able to get through to them before he can teach them the standardized materials. But even the best laid plans can be turned askew by unforeseen events, such as illness and the behavior of others outside of his control. And he has to overcome the self-fulfilling prophecy of failure to instill a sense of worth within the students. Through it all, he is supported by Marissa Vega, the beautiful waitress at the restaurant where he works part-time.

Many people could never imagine a school where it is normal to jump on desks, to sing classroom lessons, or even to have an electric blue slide. The Ron Clark Academy is different in so many ways, and some may wonder what would happen if our walls could talk. The premise of this year's musical centered on this question. Students came together and wrote a brilliant script that described what it would be like if the inanimate objects around RCA came to life. Just imagine that! Objects such as the bathroom mirror (who proceeded to rag on everyone who passed by), and a desk (who griped about the constant pain he experienced from students jumping and dancing on him), joined other colorful personalities such as the bathroom toilet, an RCA drum, the RCA wheel, and, of course, the electric blue ...

Sr. Medina edited this story not to be monetized, but with the pupose to show students how hard it is to be a teacher without their help and consideration, but at the same time it works for teachers of other countries in order for them to have a better understanding on what education looks like here in the USA. This version is cut and only the most relevant scenes were left to make it shorter for 1:15 class session,.
